    Alicia's Key was released over 12 years ago, Imho it would have been fair to use a more recent NI development like Noire.

    Never thought i would say this, but actually i think that the NI libs sound better in a busy modern production, while Keyscape sounds stellar and second to none when auditioned on it's own. In a production you don't always need realism and the 'best' sound; you need something that blends well.

    I'd call the Grand Pianos a draw with Keyscape maybe edging it at a pinch. After that Native Instruments. I don't know whether they were the more authentic sound, but they just had a lot more life in them, for me.

    The maverick and the granduer are way better than Alicia's keys in terms of tech. Newer, bigger, release, resonance all that. And my lord: the cfx grand NOIRE. Y'all went straight to the 2000s to compare to keyscape??

  • @drum877

    I like “noir” better than maverick and the gentleman. The keyscape cinematic grand sounds good. I also have pianoteq 5

    Something I've never been satisfied with in any piano VST yet, with one exception, is true velocity depth of expression. Even with Keyscape's marvelous grand, it doesn't have that true mellow sound you get at quiet playing volumes of a real piano. Very annoying for my style of music...but they clearly are mostly used for mezzo-to-forte sounds. That exception, btw, is Piano in Blue. Unfortunately, it has a nasty sustain noise buildup bug. So nothing's satisfied me yet. Would love recommendations.

    • @dynoroad
      @dynoroad 2 года назад +1

      I would guess that the VSL stuff samples the quietest pppp stuff.

    • @mellowords
      @mellowords 2 года назад

      @@dynoroad great suggestion. I've avoided buying vsl stuff for its extremely high price, and my assumption that it's old samples geared towards classical music, but I should give it a closer look. I've also been curious how well the sample modelled stuff at pianoteq is working

    • @deyvidpetromusic
      @deyvidpetromusic 2 года назад +2

      VI Labs also. The Modern U is a joy to play and you can play it at very soft emotive levels of expression, it is my go to. Inexpensive also and not heavy on hard drive space either.

    • @SpectrasonicsVIDEO
      @SpectrasonicsVIDEO 2 года назад +4

      Would recommend making sure you are using a matching velocity curve to your controller...makes a HUGE difference on soft dynamics. Also, the "Softest" LA Custom C7 piano patch is really emphasizing the lowest ppp pianos. Try it and you'll feel a huge difference. Cheers! :-)

    Love the comparison and your videos as usual but these were seriously odd and dated choices on the Native Instruments side. Some samples libraries compared to Keyscape literally were from different eras almost 10 years apart.

    I love Keyscscape but it doesn't compare to Komplete 14 Collector's Edition. Now, of you restrict it to electric pianos, Keyscape wins. Otherwise, Komplete all day. And Alicia's Keys it's nothing to write home about, Noire is by far the best piano in Komplete... And they conspicuously omitted it.

    Uhhh Thomas Skarbye is the founder of Scarbee from Denmark. English speakers wouldn't be able to pronounce his last name properly, hence, "Scarbee". It's only awful because you Brits drop your Rs, but it's an actual person's name.

    Theres a reason why Keyscape is so damn expensive and demoed by GOATS like Robert Glasper & Herbie Hancock. need i say more. Keyscape is a keyboardists VST when it comes to EP & Acoustic Piano.

    Alicia's Keys was never great. It was popular because of it's name, not its sound. (MY OPINION I KNOW!)
    I grew up playing classical piano, so that is my bias.
    The best NI piano's without a doubt are Grandeur and Noire. Don't believe me? make a blind "taste test" for yourself.
    I wish they would have compared to either of those.
