- Russia has responded after Volodymyr Zelensky changed his stance on talks. Moscow called Zelensky's willingness to hold talks with Russia a sign of "nervousness." The Kremlin, too, has responded to Zelensky’s remarks on talks and said Russia has already incorporated the four former Ukrainian regions, emphasising that this reality “cannot be ignored.” Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky suggested that a return to 1991 borders is no longer a precondition for negotiations with Russia. However, he still insisted that Kyiv must regain the territory it lost to Moscow in 2022. Zelensky's latest statement shows that he is ready to give up on Crimea amid a mega Russian blitz.

Zelensky has proven to be COMPLETLY un-trustworthy and it wouldn't surprise me if Russia doesn't take any talk of peace or treaties seriously while he is still in power.

Best time to negotiate was during the start of the war when Ukraine had an upper hand but definitely not now when Russia is in control.
Ukraine never had the upper hand! Zelinsky shouldn’t have listened to Boris Johnson! After the peace talks in Turkey there was almost a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia and Russian forces were being pulled out of Kiev. That was the time to seal the deal and stop the dying and destruction.
Ukraine never had the upper hand. The best thing for Ukraine was to implement the Minsk Accords, but its bought-up political elite saw too tempting a chance to make themselves even richer than they already were by milking the West of hundreds of billions of dollars.
Best time was in 2015 when Ukraine signed the Minsk peace deal. In 2022 ex-president Poroshenko and Merkel confessed they were just cheating to win time:( Then there were Istambul agreements in 2022 which could have saved hundreds thousands lives but the western puppet Zelensky was told not to sign them and continue the war. No good offers are now in store for Ukraine

As a descendent of a soldier who fought in the Crimean War, I don't see Ukraine getting England's continued support or Uncle Sam's for that matter if he gives up on Crimea. Underneath it all control of the Black sea is what they obviously prize above all else.

Instead they did what austria called a slow cook. Slowly providing just enough weapons for the Ukraine to survive, not enough to win. all the while upgrading their own army, and spreading NATO. England has an interest in Odessa, but USA does not. You might as well have no support than support designed to slowly cook you.

It is interesting that regions like Kosovo can vote for independence but regions Kiev has shelled the last 10 years are annexed by Russia when the local population vote to join the Russian Federation. When Russia complains about the expansion of HATO to its borders the west says these countries have every right to vote to join HATO and that HATO is a peaceful organisation that creates peace and security. Russia is too big and powerful so European countries need to join together in a group together with north america who pays most of the bills and has most of the hardware so they can pretend to be on equal terms with Russia in talks and negotiations, yet they always manage to turn discussions and talks into lectures and demands. The west has forgotten the meaning of diplomacy and discussion.
One correction - Kosovo never voted, there was no referendum at all
