When I lived with my grandparents we had those big, brown cockroaches for about a year. We were very clean, meticulous and organized. We still had them in our home. Every day we had to check our beds for eggs. Sometimes, in between the box spring and mattress, I would find these little sacks that looked like beans. Once I had a giant cockroach crawl across my face in the middle of the night. After two extermination treatments, my grandparents finally got rid of them before selling the house. Before moving, we combed through everything we owned before packing. For years I had nightmares about bugs crawling on me, waking up terrified. Somehow, I have no issues watching Auri clean while they crawl every where haha!

@@mariamaria2751 you don’t know what the family struggles with and regardless of how they got here Auri is giving them an opportunity for a fresh start. Having 2 small children to look after while you’re struggling to take care of yourself can get out of hand fast, I was lucky enough to have support and help for my issues, but not everyone has that support. Auri doesn’t judge anyone, all she is worrying about is giving this family a new start in life. You shouldn’t judge someone based on how their life looks at their lowest, and shame on you for judging their situation. If you continue to watch her videos you should listen to what she says about the correlation between cleaning and mental health; you would learn quite a lot.

Those are NOT cockroaches. Cockroaches do not run around like that in groups and not in the daylight. They’re German roaches and very difficult to get rid of. They need a pest control company to continually treat them or they will not go away even in a clean house. They also need DCF to monitor this family.

The mother, being a trained nurse, would know about hygiene and bacteria and disease. This house wasn't just messy, it was filthy! I know all about how exhausting it is to have twins. I had my twin girls when I was 38 and already had a two-year old, but I never let my house get like this. Besides, the kids must be at school now, so unless the mother is at work fulltime, she could do some cleaning then. It can be done after work too! Kids have to be trained that some things are ok in the house, and some not, ADHD or not. They can both put their toys in a big box before bedtime. They should know by now not to scribble on the walls, and if they keep doing it, they can scrub it off. The parents could paint one wall with blackboard paint and the kids could use chalk on that, or put big sheets of paper on the floor to draw on. The cockroaches are going to thrive in a place with so much leftover food and crumbs to feast on, and places to hide in and breed. Come on, it's common sense!! The parents need a routine and a system. When something is cleaned up or a chore done, then they could reward themselves with a drink if they must. A healthy diet would work wonders for all of them too. There is a direct link between what we eat and our mental health and physical well-being.

I want to add that I've been in therapy for years, and as a mom whose story parallels this one to a T, therapy only goes so far. They need community support. Children with neurodiversity NEED that support more than anything.

I leaded social sessions with kids with ADHD and after 1,5 hour I was more exhausted than after 10 hours office work. My cousin has ADHD and as a child he was full of energy not able to unload, there was no possibility to focus him for longer time, he played with no thinking about consequences - my aunt and uncle had to keep an eye on him all the time. Thankfully, they lived with grandparents, who were great support. It's vicious circle, because parents mostly try to pay the attention with new toys, but a clutter is overwhelming for sensitive kid's nervous system

To me the house was surprisingly not that dirty. The main issue is the cockroaches, which your house has to be super clean to have an exterminator come in. Also I'm pretty sure that was a bottle collection, which I don't think they probably wanted thrown away. While I agree that there are times kids should be taken away, this is probably not the situation. If they can get the cockroaches killed I guarantee they'll find things a lot easier to manage.

I don't know if Auri misspoke
given English is her 2nd language but the math isn't matching. The mom would have been under 16 when they got together Like 14, 😮..anywho. I hope they can get help for the girls, limit toys, have the girls clean! and get a home cleaner in or do it themselves.

Such a young Mom, she probably was not taught housekeeping. Guessing the Dad didn’t either.

We lived in an apartment with a moderate infestation while my first husband was in medical school. Our newborn was so allergic to them that he stayed ill the whole 18 months before we moved elsewhere.
