  • Another unique blend of lush synth textures, driving basslines and rhythms, all recorded using a combination of hardware and modern production techniques.
    Gear Used:
    - Roland JP8000: Heading over to the first epic pad-preset, I straight recorded this one into my Digitakt. I feel like there never comes any wrong sound out of this machine!
    - Roland JD990: Same here, just headed over to the first lead-sound I had by hand and the rest was serendipity. I recorded a note into my Digitakt and arranged everything in its sequencer
    - Moog DFAM: My weapon of mass creation - just tune a few knobs and it results into new and creative noise effects.
    - MFB 522: I'm a big fan of this little monster. Especially its 808-like Bass Drum can be used as a foundation for any bassline.
    - Elektron Digitakt: Last but not least, an Elektron-machine in the chain. I could have recorded everything straight into the DAW. But adding this process in between adds further "creative accidents".
    - Native Instruments TRK01 - This is and has been such a creative tool for bassline & rhythms. I regularly come back to this Reaktor-plugin, since it provides endless fresh sounds.
    Production Process:
Everything was meticulously recorded into the Elektron Digitakt, allowing for precise control and manipulation of each sound. The final mix and processing were done in Bitwig Studio, where additional effects and refinements were applied to enhance the overall soundscape.
Whether you're a drum & bass enthusiast, a fellow musician, or simply love exploring new soundscapes, this session is sure to captivate your ears and inspire your creativity.

I have a JP8000 and feel that I need to add a lot of reverb to make it sit well with other instruments, what external effects do you find useful for it?

I agree, adding extra reverb diffuses the sound even further. Also boosting bass and treble on the JP always adds something exciting. In my video I was using the Digitakt‘s reverb and delay.
