For the trigger plate on a 220 i use aluminum pull lids from my cat food can's, remove pull tab and punch 2 holes on one side of lid and 2 on other side squeeze yer trigger wires together and slide lid on release trigger wires and presto!! And they last longer than de corrugated plastic ones..
Great vid . We are getting a new series of Dual Survival here in Ireland , starting on Monday , featuring my favourite Survival Guy Mr Canterbury . Happy , Happy , Happy.
the plastic corrigate will also increase the leverage on the trigger assembly. more leverage means it will take less work or weight on the part of the animal to move the trap release.
Turning the trip wire into a pressure plate is genius. I'm a structural trapper and will be adjusting a few flat 220 sets for raccoon today with this tip! My biggest worry with these sets are miscatches because the animal pulled on the trip wire. Thanks!!
@longtrekker i own both and if i had to choose one or the other i would go with a recurve. i dont have any real experience with a take down but i would say that wouldnt make much of a difference in shooting
Hey Dave great video Defiantly going to try a few of them out and see how they do. I had messaged you a while ago about using 550 cord to compress the springs on my trap with out having to use the setting tool.. My question to you is how do I take the tension out of the spring when there is an animal in the trap using the 550 cord method? Because when I use the 550 I step in the trap and then pull the cord to compress the spring, I can't do that if there is an animal in it. Thx
Dave: Nice video! Those mods were really good ideas. I always used heavy duty zip ties to hold the loops of the spring together; now I will try that S-Hook as a safety latch, instead. I also use an Irwin Quick-Clamp to squeeze down the spring, beforehand. By the way, what do you do to keep the traps from rusting?
Not sure how reliable that treadle mod would be. I've seen the whiskers on a 110 pushed all the way to the ground (when laying the trap flat), and not get set off. And that's on the most sensitive dog setting. Not saying it won't work, but you'd need to really make sure it is made correctly and functioning smoothly and set well, because all trappers know that animals will find ways to defeat their traps if at all possible.
hey can you show more of thats debris shelter in the backround looks cool better than the one you did just a video on or is that an extention to that one thanks i love debris shelters have numerous one scattered through out my cities woods
ok thanks dave i found the other videos bath i have a question would you in diary of the tipi even explain how to make a water bottle that you already had hanging, you have shown him as you courd container made
Hay Dave, Great video. Could you do a video from start to finish on how to process a rabbit hide. Been raising silver fox rabbits for a year and can't ever get a hide to come out right. Thanks for the videos.
Dave i just bought an aluminum water bottle from dollar store was that bad idea to use as a container for heating water ? Love all your videos Dave. You are very knowledgeable.
Hey Dave I have question for you. A neighbor asked me to help him with his yote problem. Killin his livestock. But he completely wants no firearms shot on his property. I and gona set some footholds. How can I ethically dispatch them swiftly without using a .22? Is using a crossbow a option? Anny special tools or broad heads I can use?. Thanks sir.
Don't mean to change the subject, but looking to get in to traditional archery, dave what bows would you recomend, longbow or recurve or a takedown model?
hey dave i like your videos i'm a big fan of you i have a question why don't you do video's where you learn to make traps with the nature around you with some sticks and rope as you do in dual survival sometime greetings:lino bogaert ps: i come from belgium
Dave I've noticed you havnt been using your case hunter trapper pocket knife are you not diggin it, I love my pathfinder knife were I live in Cali everyone always asked me if I'm carrying a butcher knife lol Dumbasses love the corrugated sign mod thanks brother!!!
Great video’s Dave, I’m going on a survival tour with my dad because of your vids. I have one request, can you explain what the best way is to humanly kill small animals like rabbits without a gun. Is it best to cut off their head or something else? Thanks!
Nice tip on the S Hook safety! While a 110 is easy to get out of - on a cold, wet raw winter day getting popped by one of those little buggers hurts!
"Dave is the king !" The wealth of info that he passes on for free is priceless. " Thanks for being there for us Dave."
I learn from every modern trapping video you post but this is one of my favorites.
Great work and ingenuity. Always taking it to the next level and staying outside the box. Cheers!
So sick, great idea. It kind of makes conibear traps more versatile to foot holds in a way it seems like.

That pressure plate mod is incredible! After I add the safety to my 110, that's the next mod
the beard is bad ass dave! makes chuck norris look like a ballerina

That should be on one of those reduce, reuse, recycle commercials. I like how it is common man and effective. Good stuff Dave
Great tip, I look forward to giving it a try.
