AMAZING playing, transcription, thoughtful program! What a musician and player. One would never know this was not conceived for the bass. And BTW..I don't like transcriptions unless they are masterfully played, usually better than with any artist of the original instrument. Jacob transcended this standard! BRAVO and the pianist was equally musical, adept and sensitive. We have a new young leader and star in Jacob Warren! Congratulations for your mastery and musicianship!

Thank you so much!! I agree, it can be quite a task trying to pull off a transcription when you have to live up to great performances on the original instrument! If a listener can forget that it wasn't written for bass, that's when I feel like I've done my job!

I personally think that fingering cminor in solo tuning to keep the original dm works better. Just like Barbé and a couple more bassists have done.
Anyway, beautiful playing, and it's great to see more people getting this fantastic piece to the bass world.

It's interesting, I've found that fingering in C minor often makes certain moments of the piece line up in less "celloistic" places on our instrument, sometimes making it sound like a bass transcription rather than being faithful to the gesture Debussy intended by putting it on the cello where he did. Having access to the open D string (second string) and tuning down the fourth string to a low D also opens up the sound a bit more, which is another reason why I prefer it in this tuning! But I think it can work either way for sure!
