Let me see, when did gangster-ism become a thing outside of organized mafia groups? Granted the most prolific Mafia conglomerate was East Coast NY but that's following another code, culture, and conduct. And what does that serve ?...the exact same result of those mafia groups: targeted, jailed, and or murdered. And it's even more cowardly to profit from the promotion of that destructive culture you helped to recycle, this is why most of G-Unit sonically didn't age well. Most of their run resembled a series of pyramid schemes with 50 & the record company reaping most if not all the reward. None of G Unit is even close to successful as Fif. Lyrically some of his artists had more potential but they were followers too and look at em now. Yayo pop all this fly shi but still doing mad interviews for bread.

Gangster rap was just an organic thing that grew out of hip hop which was naturally always symbiotic with the street. It was only a matter of time before the lyrics really started to reflect that. Only idiots think the music created the problem instead of the problem created the music. Tony won this debate clearly

Rap didnt create the problems, but it did make it a lot worse for the younger generations. It's completely insane nowadays.

Shit, you can't even blame it on Onyx. What about Schooly D with PSK? Kool G Rap pretty much invented mafioso rap with Road To The Riches, even BDP was on some gangsta rap shit on Criminal Minded.

old dude bigga is right. yeah hip hop fans liked the gangster rap at the same time as the positive, but part of the problem is when the industry and the artists blurred the lines between what's real and what's just a "gangster persona", and didnt make a real distinction between "keeping it real" and entertainment. it wasnt cool to say "we're saying all this gangster stuff just for entertainment. don't be out here like this." In order to sell and market themselves the companies, and artists maintained the perception that the persona they created in their lyrics is how they really are in their real lives. So fans who didnt know any better, or who were really going through whats in the music felt it, they took music to heart and ran with it.

Ultimately Yayo is actually correct, Bigga’s view of it is mad biased
Because Yayo never DENIED that. But if you say you not for ANY misleading(Bigga’s words), then say you fux with MOP, my nigga, that invalidates everything else you just said about positivity and bullshit
Yes, there’s a difference between being actually real, ten toes to the ground, and actors. This is true. BUT! This view totally disregards once it’s ALREADY OUT THERE. The masses already been caught
So! As Yayo said. Whether you ACTUALLY real or not, you’re damned if you do, damned if you don’t
If G Unit didn’t have street shit like they did, Bigga’s next excuse woulda been, well y’al real but not as real as ‘insert name’
And respect ALL GOOD and BAD? Is total BS. Why do you think Reality/Conscious Rap took such a drop off? If respect was across the board? Guys like Lupe Fiasco and King Los would be chart topping like how Drake does
Bigga’s entire arguing point is trash. Because it’s hypocritical. If you say NO MISLEADING. ANY gang shit should be a violation by that logic

@amanSpawn00 It's the duality of the 90s 2000s that made rap a global market, NY was already the most diverse mecca there ever was so naturally you getting all flavors and iterations. But don't get wrong the game wouldn't be where it was without the Kwelis the Curtis Jacksons the Lil Kim's and Lauryn Hills. But yes when real ppl life started to be in danger based on the energy, the essence of that is G Unit to this day they played it like they weren't bumping shoulders with millionaires since way back. Portrayal a certain lifestyle as "more real" kind of polluted this shi.
