My wife bought me this boxset for Christmas, first saw the band in 81 in Sheffield and have since seen them countless times and in various European countries, including Berlin and Paris on the last tour. Haven't had chance to play any of the discs yet, love the books, but just waiting till I get the time to watch and listen properly. Yes it's expensive, but was a present, so it'll be treasured (little treasure) 😉. Thanks for the video.

I'd like a Violator one as well actually. Even though I've pretty much got everything... Like, all the regular versions of the albums, plus the Sire promo remix CDs that accompany the Sire limited edition CDs (with all the bonus tracks). AND the remastered chunky Collectors Edition digipaks, which are awesome to. As well as the majority of the other remix CDs AND all their singles...🤔 So if there's anything else left to release that hasn't been done already, then... I want it!!! 😊 😀
Hi Paul, thank you for another great video! A couple of things: The second booklet you show is the exact replica of what comes in the original 1989 vinyl release, and I believe the CD release as well. I bought the 2003 DVD regular release and mine also has some sort of production issue and the second disc did not work properly, similar to the SACD version you were referencing.

101 was remastered in 2019. Why didnt they included the remastered CDs instead of the ones most longtime DM fans already have since 1989 🤷♂️
It's supposed to have grain. It was shot on 16mm film most likely. Film will have grain. That is what film is about.
Seen them at the Edinburgh Playhouse on this tour, they were brilliant.

I picked up just the blu ray disc.. Audio and Video is great, but I was disappointed as well that the original DVD 2 special features or commentary wasn't included.
That thin booklet looks a lot like a replica of the original CD insert. In fact, I have this vague memory that the OG vinyl release had a full size booklet (just like the one in this box) in it as well with those photos. I might misremember that, though, and my collection is in storage so I can't check lol. Great walkthrough of the box. :)
Yeah, the thin black booklet is not an ad for Anton Corbijn’s photo book. It’s the original booklet that came with the vinyl release in 1989 as well as the DVD in 2003. You should update your video to make a note of that.
Sony pretty much invented SACDs. They didn't repress SACDs when they reissued the 2-disc remastered albums, so I wouldn't have expected them to do it here. That's Sony, one of the most consumer unfriendly "software" companies out there. Of course they're going to put in minimal effort. Have any of their other DM reissues made you think that you would be getting value here? This isn't Daniel Miller we're talking about. Having said all that, I did just order it because one of the online sites had it for a "good" price. I'm still debating whether to cancel or return it later, but I'll probably keep it. It will be the first DM I've gotten since Spirits, and that was four years ago. Thanks for the unboxing.
Judging by the price that poster costs about £20. Do people really want folded posters?

Even though SACD was developed by Sony (and Philips) and Sony supports 4K Ultra HD blu-ray and this is a Sony Music release, it doesn't automatically mean this package should include hybrid sacd's and 4K Ultra HD blu-rays. That's record company logic for ya, folks!

Which is really pandering old tech. Having to go download a 4K version is a bit silly.
Too much for too little. I love 101 but I´ve seen that concert so many times and the bus bit is great but also seen it so many times. Would have been nice with something "new" in there. Like interviews with the band and rest of the cast. It would be interesting with them all reflecting on it now. For me this box is too pricey for what you get.

Very glad I didn’t pull the trigger on this, very disappointing. Deluxe? Most of it seems a repackage of older pressings.
What a mess of a release.... A pointless SD DVD, but it has the commentary and the BD does not? But also a download of a 4k, but no physical disc 4k, and no hi res audio disc. Nothing new content wise, and not even a basic attempt to create a concert only viewing experience without the annoying kids... Also very expensive. No thanks Mr Kessler, I have already given you and the band enough money for ill-judged product releases - not this time.

I love Depeche Mode but I kinda gave up after Sounds Of The Universe. That was the last album of theirs that I _really_ liked. Playing The Angel was, for me, their last *GREAT* album. Up there with SOFAD, Violator, Black Celebration, Ultra and the rest!

@@nickthelick I have a soft spot for Delta Machine - actually quite catchy in places. Their albums post Ultra just don't have any consistency anymore in song quality, and album production is now so basic and lame compared to their lush and intricate peak with Alan overseeing (although Tim Simenon did a great job with Ultra). Also I can barely stand the blues tinged tracks though, and wish they went back to a complete electronic sound.
