I just lost my husband last week, a chef/restaurateur of 35 years to alcohol addiction and lifestyle, and it’s an awareness that needs to be raised by everyone in the industry and not to be ignored. It’s so incredibly sad
It is a privilege to work for this man! And the indagó group has been a blessing! I changed my life 26 years ago and to think that the founder had this much in common with so many of us in this industry.
For all the help and support one can get, maybe we should shake up the 16 hour shifts and the 90 hours work week. So much for changing the culture, nothing to change the industry
Is it bad I thought your percentages for drug and alcohol prevalence in the industry were low? It's almost everyone in my experience. I'm very recently sober bc I just can't do it anymore but being in a kitchen does make it immensely more difficult than it would if I was in a different profession

I could write a dissertation about this. It is NOT your industry. Any industry which does not drug test has rampant drug addiction. Why? Read your news paper.
While there is little humor in the topic of discussion in this video, it is a bit funny that you were so offended that he used the term "my" in reference to the restaurant industry! I hear people all the time speak in this manner, regardless of the industry they are currently work in, and not once have I ever thought they were actually referencing the fact that they owned/created the industry, its merely a way of speaking that positions you within an industry you work. In my opinion, even a dishwasher or a busser has the right to call the restaurant industry, their industry because the job they perform is within that industry. Would be interesting to know, what you do within the restaurant industry, and also if you think that it is YOUR industry lmao
@@kevinmaloy4247 They stressed the word "not" instead of "your." I think they were trying to imply that a lot of industries have rampant drug and alcohol use, not taking offense that he implied some sort of ownership by saying "my industry." Either way I think they missed the point if that's what they got out of it.

Powerful moving. Heartbreaking.
Steve, what a heartbreaking story. Thank you for taking action and making a difference in your industry.

Yeah, that much work is inhumane.
Powerful story Steve, thank you for sharing. I am sending this to my daughter right now.

This is odd, my notifications shows a reply but nothing here.
