Today preorders opened for a third-party 1/12 Ryu Hayabusa. It looks good but I'm not sure if it's 80 bucks-good. After all, you could instead get multiple cheaper figures for that price. Then I see this, one such example of said cheaper ones, and you know what, quality over quanity is a good principle for a collector.
For the shoulders it can go a little past 90 if you move that arms forward first and then use the shoulder hinge, and then rotate it back. Annoying but possible. Heating it did nothing for me
I did find it so odd that the retro symbiote Spider-Man from several years ago has the exact eyes from the Secret Wars comic, and this, the “Secret Wars” figure has two heads that are both inaccurate lol. That said, I enjoy the two different looks for the heads, lets me switch up my looks on older bodies I still keep around. The Retro Spidey will be staying in Secret Wars cover pose for me. Tiny/low shoulders notwithstanding it fits better. I couldn’t care less about black pins on an all black figure.
Anyone else has had their AF15 buck spideys tear at the ankles? Like, the hinge is so insanely tight and the plastic so gummy that my Target AF15 Spidey has a tear at one ankle and I can just feel, painfully, my new symbiote's stretching out too every time I try to move it
I bought exactly ONE of those black costume Spider-Man a few years back because to me none of those is the symbiote. For one those eyes were drawn in the comics when he was wearing the cloth costume that Black Cat made. Specially the McFarlane eyes - McFarlane started on Spider-Man way after the symbiote was gone and - if I'm not mistaken - it was McFarlane who brought back the red and blue in a more permanent way and that's why he created Venom: to scare MJ so Peter would only wear the red and blue after that. Not to mention that the figures released that were supposed to be the symbiote usually came with twip hands (symbiote has webs coming from the top of his hands) and didn't have the dot on the top of any hands (which is where the webs were supposed to come out of) But most egregiously: ALL the spiders on his chest were 'wrong' as they were all designed after the McFarlane drawings that as stablished it was the cloth costume. This one on the video might be the one that is the closest to the comics symbiote spider - but like the others it comes with twip hand as and no dot on the back of the hands... Yes VERY nitpicky I know... but hey that's what we're here for isn't it 😂 As for the package and 'shield': damn I'd but the whole wave if they were 3.75" and they would be the only figures on my collection that I'd keep sealed. I was a small kid in 84 and never had the chance with the originals so I'd be completely down for a 3,75" release even though I do not not have that scale on my collection 😅
Why NO ONE is doing a 1/12 scale of spidey with you know…JADA STYLE joints that are the NORMAL joints that all figures should have. The heck is wrong with hasbro when other companies is doing their job so they could just ‘copy’
And yeah the big eyes didnt need the point at the top, just more rounded off would have been better, I like the small eyes though regardless of it being super accurate ,
I have the f4 colorway and I like that so I'm looking forward to this. Until it came out all the black and white spidermen were really expensive on the secondary market and I really like that scheme. I greatly prefer how these joints look compared to the waist swivels of the January wave. I think the sculpt performs well enough for a cheap by comparison to other toys reissue. Sure it would be ideal to have improvements but I think this is the best we're going to get until Hasbro changes their design philosophy.
Yeah, both heads are inaccurate for Secret Wars Black Suit Spidey, although you can get away with it using the alternate head. The default head is Kraven's Last Hunt Black Suit mask design that Hasbro keeps using
2:12 This is technically not true. We got a version of this suit on the teenage Ultimate Spider-Man body in that Spider-Man 5 Pack with Molten Man and Human Fly. However that one was more of a metallic purple than black, but it represented the same suit.
@AnthonysCustoms The Marvel Legends Symbiote Spider-Man from the 5 pack with Molten Man is a shorter figure than this one. The set includes Silvermane, Human Fly, teenage Black Suit Spider Man, Razorback, and Molten Man, and is $68 on Amazon right now.
@@21s_figs It was an Ultimate Symbiote Spider-Man from 1610 universe that they put with classic villains for some stupid reason. That why he was purple, not black. This one is a 616 universe Black Costume. So he is the shortest classic Symbiote Spider-Man. It's not really the same suit.
It’s one of two or three that I’m displaying on card in my collection, so nostalgia is the main draw for me on this one. The accessories are good, but articulation and body size are oddly limited. Why didn’t they go for the RYV Spider-Man? Perfect opportunity to double-dip on those who didn’t want the cell-shaded animated one that came in the 2-pack with Carnage. Hasbro must be keeping that it their back pocket for something else. Fingers crossed that Amazing Yamaguchi makes a Symbiote Suit (or black costume) Spidey on their Spider-Man 2.0 body to match the MAFEX Symbiote Suit Spider-Man 🤞🤞
They gave the right eyes on the vintage card black suit Spidey, and then gave the McFarlane and back in black looking eyes for the actual secret wars one lol at least I have both so I can swap if I want. I like this buck for spiderman though cause it makes him a bit smaller than daredevil and other characters that I want to be a little bigger
I personally am burnt on out on all these figure "updates." I already have previous figure releases of these Secret Wars characters (black suit Spidey, classic Cap, classic Iron Man, and brown and gold Wolverine). Great opportunity for fans who missed out on the previous releases, but i passed on all of them.
The retro carded version is all around a better figure and still my favorite black suit spiderman and I even prefer that head sculpt to this one .....I would have rather seen this on the renew your vows buck.....at least then we would have gotten properly sized feet with toe articulation
I need a company to make a six inch scale classic spider-man with amazing articulation that isn't mega expensive. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR IN THIS DAY AND AGE.
Wish it had Toe Articulation. Funny how many Spider-Man necessities they skip on. Like the minimum 6 hands. One eyes look McFarlane, the other looks the black suit squint eyes from Spider-Man 2 weirdly
Do you think that these companies have to pay patents for certain articulation technology that maybe smaller, lesser known companyies like Jada don’t have to? Only reason I ask is bcuz the old DC icons’ articulation very much so mirrors these newer ML bodies with the weird upside down ab crunch under a ball joint, and a lot of these newer releases having no boot swivel (which is just insulting tbh)
Im not excepting half way there anymore,Give me Characters that look like Mike Zeck artwork for these or im not interested. 2:24 I can't speak to the actual size of the toy since I don't have it but Peter Parker is like 5'10 so he's not really the tallest to superhero around even Storm is taller than him
@@bgksm7201 The original one goes for way higher than MSRP on the after market though. The CT toys one is a logical choice if you don't want to drop a fat stack on a figure that might get a reissue in a few years time.

Easy pass for me since it uses 16-year-old Peter Parker's buck. He doesn't get the symbiote until he's an adult working at the Daily Bugle. Also, of course the reflector shields are there for nostalgia along with the retro cards. These figures came out in 1984, not the 1990s, BTW. And just about all of them used the same buck.

But most egregiously: ALL the spiders on his chest were 'wrong' as they were all designed after the McFarlane drawings that as stablished it was the cloth costume.
This one on the video might be the one that is the closest to the comics symbiote spider - but like the others it comes with twip hand as and no dot on the back of the hands...
Yes VERY nitpicky I know... but hey that's what we're here for isn't it 😂
As for the package and 'shield': damn I'd but the whole wave if they were 3.75" and they would be the only figures on my collection that I'd keep sealed. I was a small kid in 84 and never had the chance with the originals so I'd be completely down for a 3,75" release even though I do not not have that scale on my collection 😅
What's the difference between this one and the 90's TAS carded one that was released not too long ago?
Paint. Heads. Pack-ins
Top 10 best dc multiverses for 2024 would be nice😢
Why NO ONE is doing a 1/12 scale of spidey with you know…JADA STYLE joints that are the NORMAL joints that all figures should have. The heck is wrong with hasbro when other companies is doing their job so they could just ‘copy’
Have you seen the preview of the McFarlane 1/6 statue based on the cover of the same comic? I know you don't review statues but it looks cool
And yeah the big eyes didnt need the point at the top, just more rounded off would have been better,
I like the small eyes though regardless of it being super accurate ,
I might get this one since I don't have a symbiote Spider-Man
Finally!! Great review… mind reader
I feel like if you really want a secret wars Spiderman the old retro one is actually better, but I prefer this one personally in most ways
Just wondering, man. Are you gonna review the Storm Collectibles Morrigan and the new MDLX Megaman fig? Cheers and happy new year!
I will be for sure
The black symbiote suit made it's first appearance in the amazing spider -man #252❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😂😂😂
Sure it would be ideal to have improvements but I think this is the best we're going to get until Hasbro changes their design philosophy.
what is your favourite black suit spiderman figure?
Yeah, both heads are inaccurate for Secret Wars Black Suit Spidey, although you can get away with it using the alternate head.
The default head is Kraven's Last Hunt Black Suit mask design that Hasbro keeps using
Yeaaaahhh... I'll stick with my retro card Black Suit.
Enjoyed that MvC2 pose!
Hey anthony! Im curious what figs u display on your marvel heroes display, if you have one. :)))
I don't have one. But to be fair, i haven't set up any displays yet since i moved this summer
I got mine🖤
But I really enjoy this fig when I traveling or playing dota.
2:12 This is technically not true. We got a version of this suit on the teenage Ultimate Spider-Man body in that Spider-Man 5 Pack with Molten Man and Human Fly. However that one was more of a metallic purple than black, but it represented the same suit.
What's not true? That is the shortest bs Spider-Man? It is true if you're only counting ML
Fingers crossed that Amazing Yamaguchi makes a Symbiote Suit (or black costume) Spidey on their Spider-Man 2.0 body to match the MAFEX Symbiote Suit Spider-Man 🤞🤞
Cel-shaded. There's no such thing as "cell shading." Unless prisons are letting felons have blinds.
Would you consider doing a review of a model kit like the bandai liber knight
Anthony has said before that he doesn’t particularly like model kits and does not have time.
@bigmoneycollector5136 true. But then again one of those 30 minute fantasy kits would probably take less time than messing around with a revoltech
hey man gumby has infinite articulation
True
Pretty sure the 2009 Hasbro Spider-man is shorter. Had limited articulation but much preferred the sculpt overall.
Funny you say the eyes lol its why I passed on the figure.
Try looking into the CT Toys Mafex 185
I just wanted one the last hasbro I missed out on it’s decent figure
Anthony can you please review revoltech superman?
Only if they make a new one
@ also Anthony will you review tonsenarts Warped vengeance Trunks since you reviewed the kid buu a little while back
Wish it had Toe Articulation.
They do not. It would have to be far more complex and specific to be able to patent a joint type
@@AnthonysCustoms Then why do u think they keep trying to push this terrible articulation on us? It’s GOT to come down to money, somehow.
I don't have this figure yet but gonna switch his head with the original Retro card release one. The eyes are too big on this one
Im not excepting half way there anymore,Give me Characters that look like Mike Zeck artwork for these or im not interested.
When it comes to that leaked list for this year ,the rumoured fan channel ultimate packs better deliver on a truly great Spider-Man and Hulk ,if not I'm done.
All I really want is a great Spider-Man, Hulk,Black Cat , Hobgoblin ,Punisher Juggernaut,Vulture, Doc Ock and Mary Jane .
I still am not sure how ML makes Spider-Man figures that can't do splits. HE'S SPIDER- MAN! You gonna make a Cap figure with no shield?
2:24 I can't speak to the actual size of the toy since I don't have it but Peter Parker is like 5'10 so he's not really the tallest to superhero around even Storm is taller than him
Looks like they got the white designs on the back of his hands wrong. They appear too triangular...
They did it to match the cover i imagine
Just get yourself a CT toys Black Suit and call it a day
bro support fake figure lol
@@bgksm7201 The original one goes for way higher than MSRP on the after market though.
The CT toys one is a logical choice if you don't want to drop a fat stack on a figure that might get a reissue in a few years time.
@@bgksm7201blows this shit away.
@@bgksm7201better than legends for sure
@@bgksm7201 Why not? they give you a waaaaaay better figure for the same (if not cheapest) price that hasbro gives you this mediocre figure.
Isn't this just a rerelease of the retro card black suit figure?
hey now thats a sticker thats gotta be worth something lol
i'm just waiting for revoltech to make a symbiote spidey at this point lol
I skipped on this whole wave today Wolverine looks like he’s wearing a oversized thong facing the wrong direction and the beyonder looked like he needed a disco ball and some powder 😂😂😂😂
I know he’s symbiote spiderman but they didn’t have to give him venom sized feet lol
I still stand by that the jazz hands pose is just stupid. Both on the cover and for the figure.
Stupid and iconic. So get used to it.
@@AlanDavidDoanedon't have to.
Will you be reviewing the Figma Isaac Clark from Dead Space?
Not sure
Easy pass for me since it uses 16-year-old Peter Parker's buck. He doesn't get the symbiote until he's an adult working at the Daily Bugle.
Also, of course the reflector shields are there for nostalgia along with the retro cards. These figures came out in 1984, not the 1990s, BTW. And just about all of them used the same buck.
I wish his joints weren't as stiff out of the box and heated up. Heating up is a temporary solution somehow. Otherwise a nice figure.
"Somehow" because when it cools off the plastic reverts to its default state.
@AlanDavidDoane true but this is the worst case i've had
Haha try 1984 when they first came out!
