      I have slowed WAYYYYYYYYY down on buying them. Now I'm an in-box collector for for me the bar is lower than most: Is this a cool character design or not? Do I like the way it looks? 9.75/10 it's meh.

      @reignmanss yeah same here. Lately they've been doing a lot more re-releases which is fine with me cause I started back in 2018 and good for new collectors. I have most of the characters I like including a lot of MCU but they keep raising prices and not quality is my biggest issue with Hasbro so I've moved on to imports and other lines that offer a balance of quality and value.

      They don’t really make many of them. There used to be a new wave like every month now it’s just an occasional “deluxe” figure and store exclusives. Very few sets or waves.

    Fun fact: the origin of the symbiote design is from Peter thinking on Spider-Woman costume when he found the alien during the Secret Wars event.

      It's just a fact. Nothing fun about it.

    • @jordanscott4543

      Almost. He thought he was going to the machine that gave him clothes from his thoughts, but he went to the wrong one. And the only way he could rationalize why it looked that way is because of spider woman’s costume

    • @californiareddevil6366
      @californiareddevil6366 19 дней назад +1

      @@jordanscott4543It did respond to his thoughts, that’s why the color scheme and symbol looks exactly like Spider Woman’s. Originally, the costume wasn’t meant to be a living alien.

    • @jordanscott4543
      @jordanscott4543 19 дней назад +3

      @ it’s clearly implied in the or story that he did not go to the right device and instead went turned on the wrong machine. Specifically for the fact that he doesn’t know what device actually makes the clothing and guesses, then it comes out as a ball of sludge that causes his spider sense immediately go off and then it forms around his body. The story does not confirm that he was definitely thinking of spider woman. He quite literally states he doesn’t know why it would be black, because that’s not what he was thinking of and just rationalizes that he must have been subconsciously thinking of her suit. In the same secret wars comic after everything is resolved Reed straight up tells him that he wants to examine the suit when they get back.

    • @californiareddevil6366
      @californiareddevil6366 19 дней назад

      @ yes, it was the wrong machine (which is why Thor’s costume didn’t change). But it’s well established it responds to his thoughts. He’s able to mentally change its form into street clothes.

    • @Pay_connection
      @Pay_connection 19 дней назад +7

    • @DimsumGarbage
      @DimsumGarbage 19 дней назад +3

      @@Pay_connection i wouldn’t mind slightly larger feet, but they only stick out so much on this mold because they’re so disproportionate to the rest of his body. Sure, spidey is sometimes depicted with exaggerated body proportions- but it’s still somewhat proportionate to itself vs a real human being. You have some very unique art styles that push it to extremes, but i feel like for a figure based on a comic where that really isn’t the case at all? the big feet, combined with the very slim-swimmer built body, make him look like he’s got clown shoes. Still enjoy the figure for what it is, and once it’s posed it’s not as noticeable, but it IS still noticeable

    The old Secret Wars toy line came out in 1984, If I remember correctly. I used to have Spider-Man (red and blue), Iron Man and Magneto.
    I think the smallest/shortest black suit Spidey Marvel Legends has done is the one that was included in that villains 5-pack that had Silvermane and the Fly.
    I agree about the eyes. They're not accurate to Secret Wars, but I do like the alternate head with the squinty eyes. I think the eyes on the Symbiote Spidey on the retro Spidey mold (they put that out in 2022, I think?) fit Secret Wars more.
    On the other hand, the Amazing Fantasy buck is currently my favorite Marvel Legends Spider-Man mold, and I've been waiting for them to make a black suit Spidey on that mold. It's not perfect, but I'm happy they made this figure.

You could build a figure line using much of DJ or Fei Long as base bodies which combine the functionality and sculpt extremely well. Also, Serpentor and SGT Slaughter from the Classified line, LooseCollector’s new stuff, really seems like Marvel Legends is a step behind.

    I bought exactly ONE of those black costume Spider-Man a few years back because to me none of those is the symbiote.
    For one those eyes were drawn in the comics when he was wearing the cloth costume that Black Cat made. Specially the McFarlane eyes - McFarlane started on Spider-Man way after the symbiote was gone and - if I'm not mistaken - it was McFarlane who brought back the red and blue in a more permanent way and that's why he created Venom: to scare MJ so Peter would only wear the red and blue after that.
    Not to mention that the figures released that were supposed to be the symbiote usually came with twip hands (symbiote has webs coming from the top of his hands) and didn't have the dot on the top of any hands (which is where the webs were supposed to come out of)
    But most egregiously: ALL the spiders on his chest were 'wrong' as they were all designed after the McFarlane drawings that as stablished it was the cloth costume.
    This one on the video might be the one that is the closest to the comics symbiote spider - but like the others it comes with twip hand as and no dot on the back of the hands...
    Yes VERY nitpicky I know... but hey that's what we're here for isn't it 😂
    As for the package and 'shield': damn I'd but the whole wave if they were 3.75" and they would be the only figures on my collection that I'd keep sealed. I was a small kid in 84 and never had the chance with the originals so I'd be completely down for a 3,75" release even though I do not not have that scale on my collection 😅

    I have the f4 colorway and I like that so I'm looking forward to this. Until it came out all the black and white spidermen were really expensive on the secondary market and I really like that scheme. I greatly prefer how these joints look compared to the waist swivels of the January wave. I think the sculpt performs well enough for a cheap by comparison to other toys reissue. Sure it would be ideal to have improvements but I think this is the best we're going to get until Hasbro changes their design philosophy.

    2:12 This is technically not true. We got a version of this suit on the teenage Ultimate Spider-Man body in that Spider-Man 5 Pack with Molten Man and Human Fly. However that one was more of a metallic purple than black, but it represented the same suit.

      @21s_figs 19 дней назад

      @AnthonysCustoms The Marvel Legends Symbiote Spider-Man from the 5 pack with Molten Man is a shorter figure than this one. The set includes Silvermane, Human Fly, teenage Black Suit Spider Man, Razorback, and Molten Man, and is $68 on Amazon right now.

    • @MrRobCo
      @MrRobCo 19 дней назад

      @@21s_figs It was an Ultimate Symbiote Spider-Man from 1610 universe that they put with classic villains for some stupid reason. That why he was purple, not black.
      This one is a 616 universe Black Costume. So he is the shortest classic Symbiote Spider-Man. It's not really the same suit.

    It’s one of two or three that I’m displaying on card in my collection, so nostalgia is the main draw for me on this one.
    The accessories are good, but articulation and body size are oddly limited. Why didn’t they go for the RYV Spider-Man? Perfect opportunity to double-dip on those who didn’t want the cell-shaded animated one that came in the 2-pack with Carnage. Hasbro must be keeping that it their back pocket for something else.
    Fingers crossed that Amazing Yamaguchi makes a Symbiote Suit (or black costume) Spidey on their Spider-Man 2.0 body to match the MAFEX Symbiote Suit Spider-Man 🤞🤞

    Do you think that these companies have to pay patents for certain articulation technology that maybe smaller, lesser known companyies like Jada don’t have to? Only reason I ask is bcuz the old DC icons’ articulation very much so mirrors these newer ML bodies with the weird upside down ab crunch under a ball joint, and a lot of these newer releases having no boot swivel (which is just insulting tbh)

    • @AnthonysCustoms
