    Great content and applicable for what I am planning with driveway. I am very rural and don't have natural gas so we will be using a Garn Wood fired boiler for heat source for heating the driveway, shop, garage and house.

    Next step is hot water recirculation at every tap like in commercial buildings. They do have residential solutions available that are pretty easy to install, some use the cold water supply as a hot water return, but it sounds like you’re happy with the recirculation up to the manifold. The breakdown made this a lot easier to understand. Thanks!

    I was originally going to simply replace my driveway and only considered driveway melting when I found your channel. This is a rabbit hole that will end badly for me lol.
    Excellent content, well thought out and presented. This may seem quite complicated, but is far beyond what anyone else has out out there on the interwebs. Great job and I look forward to the rabbit hole.

    Have watched all your videos, for a DIY'er you have done fine. Your buffer tank does exactly what its designed for, stopping short cycling. My 2 cents would be to split temperature setpoints at boilers. One little higher than other, like 135 & 140 or 140 & 145. Could change this every season so run hours even out over time. Maintaining space temperature with return water is great, very comfortable to occupants. Great job piecing it all togetherl

      Hi Glen. Thanks for taking the time to watch all of my videos, I appreciate that! Regarding your suggestion to split the temperatures, it's actually not an option as the units are linked together. Takagi offers a built-in "Easy-Link" system where you can connect up to 4 units without any additional hardware. They even include the cable with each unit. With the 2 units linked together, they function as 1, and automatically modulate from 15,000 BTU's all the way up to 400,000 BTU's. You do bring up a great point though, if I am supplying the same flow with a fixed speed pump, I'm sure the would function the same individually as they do when linked. Hmmm, something for me to think about, thanks! I also agree with your comment about maintaining space temperature with water return. We have found it very comfortable.     Wish I had installed hydronic heating just so I could build this out. Have you considered PIR sensors to trigger your outlet on your Aquastat? In my quest to minimalize any wasted energy without interruption to daily living, I installed PIR sensors in each of the bathrooms and kitchen areas. Once motion is detected, they power the pump for 10 minutes. There are a number of ideas I am taking from your experiences like adding a secondary loop to the buffer tank and adding a 3 way mixing valve. My current buffer tank is a 5 gallon electric, however I have a AO Smith Hybrid Heat Pump that I was using before switching to tankless and may introduce it into the buffer position. Having 18kw's of solar, I want to take advantage of maintaining the standby heat.

    Hi, im going thru your videos and are very good and useful, my only question with the system its the position on the safety 120 degree mixing valve, why not at the entrance of the house water manifold and let the reticulation without that drop of temperature.

    Amazing system.. really impressed... I'm in niagara ontario. I'll try and do something similar to your system once i will start my new house in spring. I was wondering if in summer you are able to recover any heat from the driveway pipes.

    I'm curious as to what the bypass valve on the snowmelt system is for? Why not just energize the 0013 pump and start circulating the glycol? It seems like once you get the delta T between the supply and return temp to within a small value the snow melt would have heated the slab mass and done it's job and could be turned off? Great content BTW!

    Great videos. I need to binge watch the rest. Why is the foam board not to the edge and vertical on the edge? Also did you set the wire mesh on chairs to place the pex in the upper 2”?

      Hey davidpgh1! Thanks for the compliments, I appreciate having you as a subscriber! So the original plan was to run the foam board to the edge and up, and that's typically whats recommended. In my case, my concrete contractor had the idea of leaving the outside 6" un-insulated to "lock" the foam in place under the center portion of the slab, and prevent insects, etc from boring into the side of it. I wasn't starting the pex loops until 12" from the edge anyways, so I was ok with it. I wasn't planning on the edge insulation, as I'm pretty sure it would've gotten destroyed during backfilling, etc. I also like that I was able to run my sprinkler heads right up next to the driveway on each side without the foam being in the way. I'm sure I'm experiencing some edge loss, and even a little bottom loss to that 6" un-insulated strip underneath on each side, but considering most of the concrete contractors I contacted said they typically don't install any insulation at all under heated slabs, I think it's fine. 😊. In the garage slab we went right to the edge underneath, and also along the permitter, 45'ing the concrete up to the top. I talk about that and show some pictures in another video.     I don’t understand why hot storage tank are priced so much higher than water heaters.
