    I'v been EDCing your entire list and more for 38 years with one Victorinox Swiss Champ. That being said, I'm a facilities maintenance man so I also carry, Knipex 5" Pliers Wrench and 5" Cobras, Milwaukee 6 in 1 Fastback, Kline mini ratchet and 5 bits, Kline 1/4 to 5/16 flip bit and Craftsman 8 foot tape measure. I don't work in an office, except when I'm fixing something in someone's office. With 8 pockets in my KEY logger jeans and suspenders I have the pockets and load carrying capacity to carry what ever I want. Ps. 90% of the time I carry all of this when I'm not at work because I don't care what people say or think.

    I just ordered a super tinker and a pair of knipex 125s. Are the knipex easy to pcoket carry. I went for the size up from the 100s for utility. Is it better to make a sheath or can i just drop them?

      I had good luck with just leaving it in my pocket along with an SAK but have been running a sheath for a long time on the XS which is my preference.
      Biggest issue is I kept grabbing a bit of fabric in my pocket when I’d slightly close the handle to pull it out

    I really like the Knifeless Rebar, with the bit adapter. I carry 12 double Wiha bits, in a Charge sheath and a Victorinox Rambler. I am thinking about getting some pliers but I don't know which ones yet. The Knipex look like they would work. I don't need them all the time, since I always have my Knifeless Rebar, even if I only have it in the smaller sheath it came with, without the bit adapter and bits. Thanks for the video.

    Highly recommend the Leatherman Crunch for good pliers in a smaller carry size. The pliers are actual channel locks in a footprint not much larger than the Skeletool. I EDC a Crunch in a belt sheath with a combo of a Benchmade Bugout in my front pocket and Victorinox Pioneer X in my 5th coin pocket.

    Am I crazy for thinking you can go a step further past the pocket clip to just removing it and putting it all the way in your pocket?
    Working in the trades as I went to college I always carried my rebar that way. Upgraded to a P4 and was 2 ounces heavier but not a huge difference profile wise, and carried that the same way. I have been project manager in construction for 2 years now and that’s my solution for not looking “too tactile” but also “impressing” the guys in the field when I got some serious fire power in my pocket.
    However I have been looking for a lightweight solution for gym short/sweat pant/wedding/date night carry to stay handy. I like my SAK Fieldmaster but I don’t like not having one hand blade or pliers.
    Just pulled the trigger on a skeletool last week and also got a SAK Huntsman for that perfect pair combo w scissors, saw, reamer, tweezers, straight blade/2nd back up blade.
    I really fell in love with the Skeletool design, and was excited to carry my new tool so I brought that and the Huntsman with me to work over the P4.
    I realized 90+ percent of what I used my P4 for was the blade, drivers, and needle nose. Also scissors but those are less necessary and more comfort. Think I am going to be a skeletool/huntsman guy for a while especially since I can distribute weight over 2 pockets. P4 will live in my work bag for now but may just go back to Rebar because I have a one hand blade already, lighter, smaller, get a better file, better ruler, 3D philips, and the bit adapter is a nice bonus since I have the bit kit on my as well now.
    Not sure if I’m going to be able to swing both my skeletool and huntsman for my light carry purposes but I’m going to try.

      Got the power pint a couple years back and they are the best micro pliers as far as opening width and grip strength but I barely carry them because the rest of the tool selection just isn't quite right. Tiny drivers, poor file, etc. Fortunately they are held together with regular torx bolts. Modded with a carbide jigsaw blade, 3-sided letherman file (removable from one of their kits), maybe a slim 4mm bit kit, etc... it could be unparalleled for size. But that's a lot of work for what is already a mid-priced tool.

      @@TestSpaceMonkey I ended up buying it and I agree (the design is impressive given the size, but the tools really need work). I occasionally carry it, just for the pliers (which are awesome, although I wish the handles were longer) and because you barely feel it in the bottom of the pocket. But SOG is actually coming out with a new “Flash” multitool, with a larger one-hand D2 blade, flathead and bit storage…. also, a deep carry clip! It seems great, if they execute it well. Clip that to one pocket and all you need is a SAK with any remaining tools you need.

    Get a cheap leather card case and put the head of the Knipex pliers in them to hold them upright. I carry the XS separately and a Vic compact/Farmer X and a small screwdriver set in a small pouch.
    I personally found the Squirt and Style PS almost useless as pliers except for small delicate tasks. The only decent ones were the scissors and electrical plier models IMO.

    • @EngineersPerspective701
      @EngineersPerspective701  3 года назад

      I have used the pliers on the style effectively several times but overall I'd say there are not a great solution. Often even the wave/charge isn't enough when I truly need pliers. The XS does the job best.

    • @simonh6371
      @simonh6371 Год назад

      My experience with the Cobra XS is similar too, they have excelled in any task I've used them for, many which a Leatherman Squirt pliers can't do, as long as I don't need to cut wire which I hardly ever do without access to more tools, it does the job. I've really gone off my Squirt now since the scissor spring broke, they were pretty poor before as they have a lot of play between the 2 blades, now they are practically useless. I can't get it replaced if I send it to LM apparently, they would send me a Micra back. I'm not going to buy a Style PS either as the scissors are the same as on the Squirt. So it barely makes sense to carry it as I have to accompany it with scissors. I often carry my Cobra XS with the Farmer X too, or the Climber.

      That's a good tip to use a card holder to help keep a small amount of tension on the pliers. I'm assuming it's a two handed operation to put the pliers back in the card holder.

    the difference between swiss army knife and leatherman. is that leather man is for more for the working man. and swiss is more leaning for the survivalist or bushman. for bushcrafters the hunter swiss knife is the best knife. because it has two additional knives/saw/awl/scissors/twizzers/can opener/bottle opener to store clean water/ small flat head that can get by as a screwdriver/ then a big flathead,... i also spent the money for the extra pen addition and needle, and small flat head for glasses for the cork screw. and gave it some yellow skins to find it so i do not loose it.
    besides that i have the 125mm and listen to reviews. and not wanting the 100mm. the reason why i want it is because it act like e needle nose pliers because its thinner than the 125mm. so i think getting a needle nose pliers on your swiss is unnecessary. but its a cool idea. but its kinda a gimmick. but thats just me. plus the build quialty isnt like a leatherman base on the thickness of the pin they used for connecting them together.
    i think just the huntman swiss knife and the 100mm and a bic lighter is the best setup... with my pocket sheath from hide and drink on amazon. its a 3 pocket setup for like 10$. however there is another setup with the ranger swiss knife that a littler bigger that gives you a locking blade knife that imo give me everything i want. but i lose a few more tools for the length. im just trying to carry light where i hardly notice any weight or room taking.
    i been in market for a edc knife been looking at the cold steel finhawk for the scanny grind.

      They both can function in either role, work vs. bushcraft well all depending on how you set them up and which model you get. But I definitely see a lot more Leatherman in working hands than SAKs but that could be a USA vs. Europe thing maybe?

      @EngineersPerspective701 na, I remember I got a swiss. And The only think that made Leatherman amazing was just the pliers. That was it. But the sak was the best thing invented imo. But now that knipex invented these pliers these are ground breaking for the power and veritlity this have vs needle nose. Only thing I wish is that the pliers had wire cutters on the back side of the teeth maybe I'll mode one and file one in. I think this as a head for a Leatherman will be impossible because it too big. Plus I rather just have the pliers independent from other tool handles. I think buying the two sizes of knipex is the best investment because you can find other ways to fit them in any combo of tool edc's.

I bet if you were to dip the handles into straight gorilla glue clear you might be impressed with the results..I think 🤔 it would be the extra grip you are looking for and would probably bond really well onto that textured black handle..they might look pretty slick and legit..I may try it myself for shits and giggles on mine to see what the results would be..I like my as is but just for curiosity’s sake I may try it.
