The hero is thinking about his past , that is showed to us like it’s present , he’s thinking how he could’ve saved his wife , if he could’ve rewritten his past , but once he accepts death , he transcends from this world and goes towards XIBALBA, and out of the bubble only to die and reunite with his wife

You haven't spoken a single word on the Visual Effects and background score which are the main highlights of this movie. This movie is really a treasure for movie lovers. 2006 was really "The" year for best movies including this one, prestige and Illusionist.
