Hi, thanks for the question. According to the Brian Rust Jazz Records book, the Seven Blue Babies started out as Mickey Bloom trumpet, Tommy Dorsey trombone, Pete Pumiglio clarinet, Spencer Clark base saxophone, Chauncey Gray piano, Tommy Felline banjo, Herb Weil drums with Jack Kaufman vocals. Then Cliff Weston replaced Bloom on trumpet followed by Reg Harrington replacing Dorsey. Then Weston was replaced by Fred Van Eps Jr and Harrington was replaced by George Troup. Then Harrington returned to replace Troup on trombone and Chick Condon replaced Weil on drums. Lastly Clark was dropped just before the recording of recording Nagasaki. It was very common for band members to come and go as engagements popped up and as record deals were made. After the Nagasaki recording, both Dorsey brothers were in the band. So, this record would have been cut by: Mickey Bloom -> Cliff Weston -> Fred Van Eps, Jr. Tommy Dorsey -> Reg Harrington -> George Troup -> Reg Harrington Pete Pumiglio Spencer Clark - dropped out Chauncy Gray Tommy Felline Herb Weil -> Chick Condon Jack Kaufman
Since there is so much vocal, you don't hear much of the band. according to Brian Rust{1978}, personnel is: Fred Van Eps Jr. t; George Troup, trb; Pete Pumiglio,cl; Chauncey Gray,p; Tommy Felline,bj; Chick Condon,d Not quite the busiest or most well-known NY studio musicians of 1928 but they did get around.

Who are the seven?
Edison's visage disapproves, but I like it. A lot.
Has verse!
someone must have got fired. edison would never hire anyone named kaufman.
well....the electric microphone is definitely not superior, but the song is fantastic nonetheless! :-)
Back in Nagasaki where the women chew tobaccy and the men are wicky wacky whoo. !! that's better.
1928!!!! Not very enjoyable to listen to. Vocal is a bit stilted...
