    Most Arc'teryx items do this and I'm pretty sure it even explains it in the description before you buy it, I have no issue with it as it doesn't come down unless I need it too.

    Thanks for the information, I was planning to buy the Arc'teryx vest and found every one of them at a local sports outlet had the same zipper issue...glad you saved me the frustration!

    I was lead to believe that the zip coming down is a design feature. It is pointless on a vest. The feature allows the wearer to reach, when scrambling etc, freely without being inhibited by the garment. The zip coming undone is a safety feature.

      That’s a dumb feature

      @miked3589 8 месяцев назад +2

      It’s so you can unzip with one hand in climbing and scrambling situations. It has nubs where it catches at certain spots. I agree it could use a couple more.

    I like this guy, but it felt like 90% of the video was about the zipper. By the way, I don't have this problem with Arc'teryx vest. The hem cinches are on the side, not the back.

    • @olaf2046
      @olaf2046  2 года назад +2

      Thanks Eric. I focused on the zipper because it is a big fail. Most people wear vests with the zip up 99% of the time. It seals in your core temperature. If the zip don't stay up then it is pointless. Hem cinches on this new model Atom LT are on the sides towards the back and not the true side (if that makes sense). Vests from the previous years had them exactly on the side.

    Hey Sir,
    I know you got a medium but how does the arcteryx fit? How tall are you and how much do you weight? Thanks

    • @olaf2046
      @olaf2046  Год назад

      It's a normal fit. I'm 160 lbs and 5' 9" tall.

    I have this and no issues unless I actually pull on the vest.

    I've had both vests and I prefer the Arc'teryx. I actually use my vest for hiking and fast walks. Nano puff doesn't breathe and gets way too hot. Of course if you want to be fashionable at the office, Patagonia is a better choice. You are also exaggerating the "zipper failure"!

    Think you got a dud. I own both vests and neither unzip.

      The Patagonia vest is fine. The arcteryx vest is possessed. I went to the arcteryx store and all the atom lt vest had sliding zippers. They offered to exchange it when I complaint but in the end it would have been pointless to get another faulty vest. The store clerk also never seen the issue as well. Must be a bad batch.

  • @SensorailPluto3
    @SensorailPluto3 2 года назад +3

    They are made to do that

    • @SensorailPluto3
      @SensorailPluto3 2 года назад +1

      But it sucks that you going on your day makes it unzip

    • @olaf2046
      @olaf2046  2 года назад +2

      I see no advantage to having the zipper not locking and just casually sliding down and open from gravity. It's a strange option to want to have much less need.

    Try to understand gear features, before saying this is a gear fail. I suspect, by the way you review, you’re not into outdoor adventures, but urban look good fashion.

    • @olaf2046

      The zipper does not stay up. The solitary function of a zipper is to stay zipped until the user zips it down. How is this simple factualky observed analysis up for any debate?
      The zipper doesn't stay up and fails at its job. This is 100% gear failure highlighted by the fact that this simple Arcteryx vest costs $200. Has nothing to do with whether you are on a hiking trail or in an office. The zip will surely fail regardless of the environment. Americans are always looking to debate things. Please save your energy for something more abstract like politics.

    Crazy to me how they could allow such poor quality control. Like their brand is based on their quality. What a let down.
