    I heard Paul singing live in a concert and found his voice so sweet and very deep. Not only that, the most impressive thing that I noticed on Paul was his humble heart.
    Years ago I sung bass in a quartet but the resources of learning was much less than today.
    Thanks Paul for your support and may God continue blessing your heart.

    I sang bass for 35 years and never heard of this technique until I heard someone on your page, here about 2 or three months ago. I never thought I had a problem, but I'm finding out that one can get more volume using this technique and this is critical for the very low notes. My problem is that I get a note that is between this new technique and the old way, and the sound in the middle, comes out ugly!! not sure if I need to get used to singing with such a nasal sound or not. Right now, it sounds "not good", however, when I get it right, I love it because it's effortless. In California, I have no one for instructions, that I know of.

    Hi, I had thyroid cancer for 30 years. I have no high pitched bird chirps. Nope. I can make my bass notes echo outdoors. I will post a BASS clip of me singing on my channel soon. Just got a cheap tube preamp working with my SM7b mic properly and tried some real low notes for fun and it picked them up beautifully.

      +Chris W a good mic and mix is absolutely important but it doesn't determine if you can physically hit the note or not. Can't hit it, doesn't matter the mic you use. Thanks for following!

    I'm a big fan of EH&SS and i'm 14yrs old i just started sing bass its so weird cause i'm a tenor in our choir since i was 7-10 and when i turned 11 i can't reach that high voice that i have before😂😂and it's continue dropping until now so i guess i'm a bass singer.The lowest note i can hit is E2.

    • @BassSingingCentralMatt
      @BassSingingCentralMatt  6 лет назад +2

      Yes...natural progression that’s part of the male voice. Mine did the same thing.

    • @calebcooper2841

      dude same. I was sing high tenor from 2nd to 5th grade in school. then at the end of 5th grade at 11 my voice started dropping and I was singing baritone. then in middle school when I was 13 it became official that I was going to be a full time bass singer. my lowest note at that age was C2. I'm 16 my lowest note in full voice is F#1.

    good video. I like hearing multiple view points. it would be great to hear from Tim riley some day on here. my voice is usually sore at the end of a Sunday, it would be great to get tips on singing bass (or any other part) without straining your vocal cords.

    • @BassSingingCentralMatt
      @BassSingingCentralMatt  8 лет назад +4

      I think part of what Paul was talking about singing from your "mask" is a step toward not straining your vocal chords. I also hope to sit down with Tim sometime in the future.

      @GamingDrummer89 8 лет назад +1

      +Bass Singing Central Obviously this isn't from this channel, but I did stumble across this video of him doing some pretty at-length discussion of the "mask" technique and some other stuff like that. Just put this after the ".com/" watch?v=GcoLTGYd-sg
      BTW, I'm not a singer (let alone a bass, lol), but it's something I admire and I have had the privilege of meeting Tim Riley (who happens to be my favorite Southern Gospel bass) when Gold City came to California back in 2011. He told me Leroy Abernathy was a big influence on him with tone placement and resonance. Hope this helps!

  • @SmoothCoastBeats
    @SmoothCoastBeats 6 лет назад +2

    Hey Matt, I'm just curious.. So I've now heard, from several people (including you guys), that the high range opens up your low end...Two questions, for anybody who can answer them..
    1) How does increasing the top end affect the voice's bottom end and open up the lower end? I ask this because I've heard it the other way around... Learning to sing relaxed on the bottom helps you with your top end.
    2) Do you think increasing your falsetto would also be considered increasing your high end or are you guys talking about increasing the top of your chest/mix-voice?

    • @BassSingingCentralMatt
      @BassSingingCentralMatt  6 лет назад +3

      I believe he’s talking about chest voice. I do believe that stretch your voice is good no matter if you’re increasing top or lower end

    By "growling" is Paul referring to vocal fry or something else?

    •  8 лет назад

      +Matt W it´s some sort of fry, you should hear tim foust, from home free vocal band, he uses this technique a lot

    • @GamingDrummer89
      @GamingDrummer89 8 лет назад +1

      João Pedro Oliveira Magalhães Yeah, I've heard Tim Foust before...his technique sounds more "breathy" than like a growl.

    • @heyitsskie
      @heyitsskie 6 лет назад

      I believe there are two types, the vocal fry is very croaky and not powerful but has a lot of overtones of your own voice and the other uses the vestibular or “false” folds or chords. which is a common used technique in the basis for the beatbox technique “throat bass” and the metal false chord growl.

    "Singing from the diaphragm" is really a misnomer. The human body has no independent control over the diaphragm. You actually have to use the 4 sets of abdominal muscles as well as the intercostal muscles to breath well.
