Well, I can relate - two young kids here too. It's just smart time management - I assume in Brian's case it works like it works for me: you make some agreements with the missus like "You occopy the kids and give me 3 hours of peace to finish up the video, then I occupy the kids and you'll have your 3 hours of freedom - deal?"
The Tinker Dad this only works as long as the kids accept this. My 2.5 year old daughter often say something like „no mommy, daddy now goes to the potty with me now“. And then all those plans are gone 😀
Thanks for the tour Brian. And congrats for getting your own house (this is the next point on my big expenses list for the next 5 years or so). I hope we will see a tour of your new office/lab when it’s done or maybe see some progress of creating it?
I do enjoy a thorough lab tour. Man, you have your room well utilized -- no space ignored 👍. I actually got myself a Brother labeller like yours (although, the QL-800) after you first mentioned it on Twitter and after receiving some well-labelled kits from you. Are you using continuous roll labels or the die-cut ones? Enjoyed the video, good luck with your move (or I hope it went well), and keep up the great work!
I like your idea of using a lamp arm as a webcam mount! How did you find a matching adapter that works, though? I find that most of these IKEA-type lamp stands are rugged enough for webcams, but they don't come with a useful screw adapter.
Congrats on the new house and good luck with the moving! :) How about some vlog entries about moving, posted on your 2nd channel, or even on the main one?
My office/lab is less interesting, but more messy. Looking forward to seeing your new lab space in the new house.

Nice. Hopefully there will be videos on the new lab (with tours), even from the very beginning, somehow (maybe odd ...) I always love those kind of videos where I can see how a new place "forms" with all the progress meanwhile ... But it's just an odd wish from me, anyway :)
One thing I’ve just remembered - watch out with drive shucking. WD are putting out mixed drives that can be significantly slower than normal. From what I can find, there is no long term reliability figures yet. Video ruclips.net/video/1JP7A_A0tY4/видео.html and article arstechnica.com/gadgets/2020/04/caveat-emptor-smr-disks-are-being-submarined-into-unexpected-channels/ goes into depth. I know WD own/make Seagate drives but I thought Toshiba was still a separate manufacturer...
I moved last summer. Same thing, the entire work office was packed up pretty much a day before or on the day of leaving house. Good luck with the move!
I'm pretty sure living somewhere is essential! We bought the house before the lockdown was announced and already given notice to move out. We would be moved by now but we have been doing it ourselves to respect social distancing guidelines. We are also in the same locality so we aren't changing anything from a services point of view (same shops, same doctors etc)
@@BrianLough Notice to move out? Thats mad. I would've thought they'd have given you more leeway considering the current circumstances. I know of a few house sales that were all but finalised that fell through once the schools closed initially. Mad. Anyway, best of luck with it, hopefully it's an upgrade (I'm assuming you've been in the same place since you've had the kids?). At least it's nearby so you're not having to shift everything in one trip or, as you've said, change schools/creches and doctors). Aside from being in negative equity (and the house needing a good bit of work before we could sell it) I've no intention of moving, at least until the kids can carry some boxes themselves!
I think I misled, we handed in notice to move out, we wouldn't be able to pay rent and the mortgage anyways. Cheers! Yeah it is, but the last house wasn't too bad as it was much bigger than we needed when we were childless! Plenty of stuff we need to get sorted in it though! We'll try not to think of negative equity for a while anyways!
Brian: My desk is a mess...
Everyone watching: Is it, that just looks like mine 😳
I guarantee mine is messier.
same here lmao
I look forward to the New Lab tour when you are all set up.
How on Earth do you manage to make videos, or get anything at all done, with two infants at home? Mad respect!

Very inspiring to see how much you've been able to create from that small room. Hope you have space for a laser cutter in your new house. :-)
nice! especially like the trigBoard sighting!! :)

That’s not messy - it’s lived in.
Hope you are all happy in the new home and get settled quickly.
Good luck with the move pal.
Good luck Brian !
You are definitely far more organized than I am! Congrats on the new house and I look forward to seeing your first video there!
wow a detailed tour I might say !
03:20 I know that 10,000mAh battery pack! Mine packed it in a last year.

Hopefully you can do an interview with me to talk about your Projects.
Wow, you’ve packed in so much stuff into that room. Thanks for the last look around before you pull it all apart!

Congrats on the move, yes it's always a pain, but I'm sure you will improve your lab even further in the process :-D
All the best with the move. Thanks for the tour.
I am quiet interested in the fume extractor fan review.
Good luck with the move, look forward to videos from the new office. Less mess than my toy room.
Thanks Brian, that was great. I like the threaded rod and "o" hooks, a few other good ideas. I hope your move goes well. Take care.
Moving? During lockdown? I'd like to see the look on the Garda's face when you tell em that!
