that's really great video but the HIV long protein, spike protein is GP41 and the short one like a round cap is GP120. GP120 binds to CD4 cell receptor, and co receptor is CCR5 or CXCR4 ( chemokine receptors)

Awesome information! I have a question about Reverse Transcriptase inhibitors (like Lamivudine): Why they do not affect dna construction of our own cells? If virus can't see the difference why our cell can?
I think DNA transcriptase is not found in the body naturally but then they are released by the virus alongside their RNA to transcribe the RNA into DNA and vice versa
Of the series, I think viral processes are my favorite. Understanding a few concrete examples seems to open the door to understanding more of them in abstract. Lots of lightbulb moments where things call back to previous lessons, or even spur the imagination as to hypothetical ways something could function given the constraints of the systems.
