Agreed. It's just really weird. If you're an adult thinking that way, I don't really know what to say. If you're a teenager trying to find out who you are, I can kind of understand it.

I had a number of friends that have been in the mission field -working for a church in a foreign country, that literally have women proposing to them on the street. So they can move back with them into American. Life is tough in other countries and there are a lot of misconceptions of what life in America is like for us. But in a lot of what’s it is a much more secure life. Keep in mind, marring for love instead of for a secure future or even an opportunity to status climb is a very American/western idea. Most countries see it really differently. The light skin verse dark skin is real too, I’ve seen that in most developing nations for Central American to Asia.
I agree. And like I said, no marriage is completely disinterested for sure, like I know a lot of female friends that a big reason why they got married is just because of the cultural pressure, and the fact that it's almost impossible to live alone without living paycheck to paycheck. That's not to say that I don't think these young ladies don't love their husbands and vice versa, but I think if the economic situations all over the world, even in developed countries, were a little better a lot of them would be delaying marriage.
