@@vexfilms8807 Because it stomps on Kenshin's whole journey as a character. Kenshin has been through a lot to forgive himself, find peace, and make a home with Kaoru. He's had to learn self-acceptance and find the will to live for himself and be with the people he loves. But in the Reflections OVA, Kenshin feels guilty for living a happy life with his family, so he leaves his wife and son to go wander again and help people, and Kaoru's like "okay sure, I'll just be waiting here with a smile on my face even though the possibility of you making that decision absulutely terrified me during the whole Kyoto arc, and I had supposedly learned to not just take your questionable choices and stay put but rather fight for the man I love." Kenshin visited once every blue moon, but Kaoru was pretty much a single mother while her husband went down the guilt rabbit hole again. At some point, Kenshin's dumb ass contracted a disease (leprosy?) and Kaoru's like "I wanna share your pain, pass it to me too," so they have the saddest intimacy ever, and then Kenshin freakING LEAVES HIS NOW SICK WIFE TO GO GALLIVANT IN THE 1ST SINO-JAPANESE WAR (granted, not killing people). Sano finds him half dead and sends him back to Tokyo where he reunites with a VERY SICK Kaoru for like 2 seconds before he dies in her arms. Also, Yahiko showed Kenji (Kenshin's son, who dislikes his absent father and wants to surpass him) that Kenshin's strength didn't come from wanting to be great but from his love for people, and passed the Sakabato to him, which is good and all. But considering how much Yahiko had to work and grow before Kenshin gave him his sword, this was much less impactful. Yahiko earned it, whereas Kenji got it in the hopes that he would learn what it means. It's beautifully animated, it's tragic and emotional, but everyone deserved better, and after all they have learned during the series, the choices they made make absolutely no sense.
the manga author has declared the 2nd OVA where Kenshin dies as non-canon. To quote 'Kenshin went through too much to die like that' which makes sense as the end of the OVA goes against the series' philosophy.
It might be an unpopular opinion, but I liked it because it put greater weight on his past. I mean, before that, we just shrugged it off as, "Yeah, he killed a bunch of people, so what?" But the OVA actually went into detail about how his past affected the lives of the families of the people he killed and that you can't just erase all of that just because you decided to be nice for a while.
@redbeast could you possibly post a link to him saying that it would be greatly appreciated, I remember a friend of mine mentioning this ending as if its canon so I'm really happy to learn the author didn't pay a part in it
@@MetalGearDavid57 because Jinchu arc was actually the one that tackles his past, consequences, and Kenshin forgiving himself and moving on to live his life, which was symbolized by his X scar slowly healing. Jinchu arc is his personal redemption arc.
@@primordiuspendragon1620 Yeah, true but the whole "Kaoru was alive the whole time" kind of defeated the purpose of Kenshin finally paying for all the people he killed, including Tomoe, Enishi's sister. So, in the end, the writers go back to ignoring that he was once a mass murderer and give him a "and they lived happily ever after" ending despite building it all up to seem like he was going to have some kind of retribution with his only punishment being that he can't use Hiten Mitsurugi style anymore because he was too skinny to use it in the first place. As much as we hate to see our favorite red-headed samurai in pain, I feel like the OVAs properly executed the realistic emotional reaction to being a former killer with not only Kenshin having the need to travel due to guilt, but also that people literally told him to go away because he killed their family members. And to top it off, he gets sick helping people (as retribution for his past killing) and ultimately dies in the arms of the woman he loves, with his scar fading away (a sign that he is forgiven, as the scar would bleed previously when he was remembering his "evil" deeds). As sad as it is, it's a beautiful ending and you really feel like he paid for his past and has left the world guilt-free.
Reanimated? How likely can we get the *same* voice actors like Chuck Huber as Hiei? It wouldn't be the same. I love Berserk, but will Guts still be *GUTS?* Rurouni Kenshin should stay a product of its time.
@@edwardgaines6561 Eeehh, nah. Things can be updated. I will definitely not mind a decent reboot faithful to the manga. Get some top-tier fighting animators. Bring back Kenshin's dub actor. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but I really want it.
It really is incomplete without the Jinchu arc. I have been wondering all these years why the anime studio stopped at the unsatisfactory fillers, but it's not too late. You are right to say Rurouni Kenshin is quite a beloved series (I was exposed to and only want the Sony dub). It has spawned 3 live action movies so it goes to show people still like it. The Jinchu arc would be, as it has always been, the perfect closure the series deserved.
Tl, dr: The arc wasn’t close to finished when the anime finished the Kyoto Arc so Sunrise decided to run filler until it was ready. Problem was, that was a lot longer than anyone thought and filler arcs declined in quality from “decent” to “flat out terrible” and the anime got cancelled before Jinchu was finished
My guess is that because the anime caught up to close to the final arc, and decided to make more filler episodes to fill the void, the anime just wasnt popular enough to continue, so they straight cancelled the anime. That's a problem some studios have when they decide to animate a long running manga, and make hundreds of episodes non stop, it was a problem with naruto, and is a continuing problem for one piece too.
@@PatZalatoris nah after the kyoto arc, the rest of the episodes went to filler and it become unbearable for the watchers so the ratings went low, eventually it got cancel.
@@k125catu5 that's what I mean, when all that filler came out, the show just got too low of ratings to continue, stinks we are never gonna get the final arc animated
@@PatZalatoris That's stupid since the anime got canceled in 1998, not in recent times, the popularity of the Manga still remains high even without a remake. also the Hokkaido is doing pretty well so i think they probably could get the final arc animated
Terry Low as a fan, yes i want to see more (i’m most interested about Sendo plays in the Nationals) but in the end, I’m fine with it.. Inoue is the type that doesn’t like to stretch out the plot...
Omg.... I didn't know the manga is different from the OVA for the Jinchu arc.... it was 10 ish years ago that I saw the OVA & was soooo disappointed by it that I just took it as closure.... I'm gonna find rurouni Kenshin manga translations now! Thanks Ryan!
The Jinchu Arc is incredible!! I enjoyed the entire arc! Until this day it's pains me to know that we don't have a proper anime adaptation! I would love to have the jinchu arc animated in the style of the old anime, specially because of the music. The music in that anime was superb! The arranged songs of classical musics like Cavalleria Rusticana by Pietro Mascagni when Kenshin says goodbye to Kaoru or Patetique by Mozart when Yumi runs to stop the fight between Shishio and Kenshin are high point for me in the anime and I think a reboot will lose those moments, at least in a way that was presented there. Not only that, the incredible songs "Ishin tenpuku kenkaku" that was presented in Kyoto Arc and was a prelude for a mayor battle or the oniwabanshu song "Oniwanbanshu Kyoto Tansakugata", those are songs rooted in the anime Rurouni Kenshin, I can't imagine a reboot without those songs. For you who are reading this comment, take your time and search those songs that I named here. You will not be dissapointed and you will agree with me (prepare for nostalgia feeling). A reboot without those songs is something that I don't want. (and many others because, let's face it, that anime has an amazing soundtrack).
I didn't enjoy how Sanosuke never really improved Futae No Kiwami. That was its biggest flaw (second might just be Banjin). It was heartbreaking seeing him continuing to damage his right hand. I did like that he managed to bring out the ol' Zanbato once again and get a little more mileage out of it for one last time. And how he got to be reunited with his family.
It did have its problems tho, mainly the total lameass Sushin underlings of Heishin (and also Heishin himself), but they weren't the only ones. Banjin was a total dumbass and Sanosuke didn't really advance his skills.
I would like the idea of having a live action for the Jinchu arc, Takeru Sato was brilliant in his performance fleshing out Kenshin but even if it will be a trilogy this will be a bit closer to LOTR budget to bring out the story of the whole arc. An anime reboot would be unnecessary since the first 2 seasons of the anime already is good but if they will make the whole arc into a new season that is for me a better way to end this legendary series. With great artist who knows and love the source materials the arc itself does not need a lot of artistic liberty.
Now i'm expecting gein and banjin returning to get revenge on kenshin and sano for their defeat in the first LA movie ( if banjin does return, he would probably be played by another actor because his actor in the first movie is now a politician )
It'll be interesting to see how many liberties they take with the movie(s). While the first film is one of the best anime adaptations out there, I look forward to how much they keep "realistic" and fat trimming.
Great video! It's a shame Enishi's arc was never animated, this story is so good in the mangas and it would be awesome to see some characters return and grow with this story (like Aoshi - one of my fav characters on this arc..and Sano too...) I agree with you, continuing the animation picking up only this saga wouldn't work, I also think a reboot, faithfull to the manga like full metal alchemist had would be amazing for this series.
@@machabeleloka318 Hmm... I must have misread somewhere or failed to get the gist. Was a bit sleepy already when I made that. If so, disregard what I said
Your prayers are answered. There will be a complete Reboot of Rurouni Kenshin and it was announced that it will be more faithful on the manga like what FMAB animators did. So let's be happy and celebrate
@@karandev9316 they did really well adapting this arc, but there are some changes that kinda didn't work for me but overall, it's better than nothing and it's not a bad adaptation in any way
@@easyr5303 I see! I was actually expecting them to adapt trust and betrayal with this one, and eventually build towards the final arc. That's one of my major complaints from this film. It's hard to feel the same stakes as Himura and Enishi are feeling during the final battle without experiencing kenshin's past and familiarising ourself with Tomoe. It felt more off to me because I knew Jinchu was supposed to be the last arc, so what were they gonna adapt next? I'll be able to enjoy this more with this new information now. Thanks!
I need everything Kenshin. I vote for the complete reboot, following the manga all the way through the Hokkaido arc. As serious or comedic as it needs to be. Hopefully since it's still so popular, it will actually happen.
Kristi Adamski: Actually, I believe the reboot should follow the manga from the Wandering Swordsman arc through the Kyoto Revolution arc TO the Jinchu arc and END IT RIGHT THERE!! Then, they can start a second series that follows the Hokkaido arc.
Hell, for the last 20 years, i still listening songs from this anime, heart of sword, its gonna rain, tactics, fourth avenue cafe and etc.... That's how good this anime was....
Enishi is one of my favorite characters design and plot-wise. A lot of antagonists in the series were great, but he serves as a very personal and great final antagonist.
Yeah if you think about it he is the real antagonist in the story considering he is the one who wants to hunt kenshin for real personal revenge unlike other antagonists who are fighting him for glory or ideological differences
True. It just makes you want to decry all filler. (Similar stuff happened to Shaman King, which diverged from the manga.) The true issue is not waiting until the manga is complete, or at least a decent amount ahead (like toward its ending). Imagine if DBK was what we originally got (except without the extra Gohan vs Freeza fight).
A reboot of the the anime would be a dream come true actually..a 50+ episode 2 season reboot much like what they did with FMA:Brotherhood since RK has 28 volumes and FMA has 27. :) this is a pipe dream as a Japan will probably never run out of content to turn into an anime but hey, we can always dream right? I do hope the last 2 live action movies will be good. Jinchu arc was such a page turner and I hope the movies will do it justice. They just released the trailer a few days ago and to say that I am excited is an understatement :D
i love this manga, when i was a child here in Colombia it was called Samurai X, i used to see it every day after elementary school i really miss this.....
They dubbed it in Colombia! That's why it doesn't sound too Mexican like Disney's and other movies. Colombian dubbing is really neutral in their accent, and I love it. Sería brutal que si rehicieran el anime, usaran los mismos actores de voz!
The guy making this video it's just a lucky kid that had access to all the story way after it unfolded. Let me tell you the real reason of why Kenshin sucked after Shishio's arc. You needed to be a teenager back in 1996, Kenshin was a massive success. The first season up to the Shishio arc was filling every television station from Europe, Japan, USA, China etc. We were all obsessed with the show (and merch). But the first chapter of the last manga arc came after Shishio's season run and in Japan, in 1996 you didn't stop a show when it's the number one right at the top. It wasn't like attack on Titan is now, if the manga has to end, the anime people make the production wait for the manga to come out. The TV series started inventing crappy episodes hoping that the sucky episodes were good enough to keep the interest alive until the real story comes out. The horrid ratings made the show to stop. I asked Watsuki in AX2001 why the episodes were so bad and he said that he never meddled or dealt with it and they could have found more interesting ways to fill the show. After the show halted, they made the OVA "Tsuiyokuhen" series which with only 4 episodes at 65.00 each, It was a hit on sales and they decided to wait until all the manga was done to make "Seimu Hen" which was just meh. I'm 43 now and to date, Shishio's arc was the last decent Kenshin show animated. It happens all the time in Japan (Gantz, anyone?)
Fuck. Why'd you have to remind me of Gantz? The last few episodes were such bullshit...and then we never got any more. It's still one of my favorite series and one of the few I'll argue that the english dub was better.
There are things that will remain unknown : - why are we here on Earth? - why are we conscious of ourself ? - why didn't we have the Jinchuu arc properly animated ?
i actually was introduced to ruroken through the live actions, and it quickly became one of my favorite series. I would love to see a reboot that skips all the fillers, it'd be a much more condensed anime that can focus on the main arcs instead. i'm also really looking forward to the next dual films coming out this spring, since it revolves around this arc!
As a kid, I remember watching Rurouni Kenshin for the first time around 2001 when it was picked up by a local network here in Kenya and began airing on Sunday afternoons around 2 pm. Boy, was I hooked!! It came with the Samurai X title so that's how I identified with it for years until grown up me looked it up (thank you cellular internet 💪🏿) and "knowledged up". So I downloaded the show and as I re-watched it, I noticed the differences because the version I watched as a kid referenced Kenshin as "the slasher" instead of "Battousai the manslayer". Anyway, regarding your video, I agree that everything about the anime up until the end of the Kyoto arc was amazingly phenomenal. I have never read any of the manga so a lot of what you pointed out in the video was new info to me. However, I differ with you regarding the Shimabara arc (as I've seen it referred online) which had the whole religious story and the antagonist/antihero Shogo Amakusa who also used the Hiten Mitsurugi style. I really liked that arc a lot. It was great seeing Kenshin go up against someone who had the same fighting background aside from his master Seijuro Hiko. I also liked the historical allusions it had since Shogo was based on a real life Japanese Christian rebel called Amakusa Shirō. I'm surprised to learn the arc was filler by the anime guys. That aside, I agree that everything else that came after that arc was lacklustre, especially that whole Feng Shui story. That was just awful. On the OVAs, Trust and betrayal was okay. It offered a nice back story to Kenshin's life before the events of the anime series which was satisfactory for me. However, the Kyoto arc OVA was really disappointing and I'm glad the original writer of the Manga Nobuhiro Watsuki hated Kenshin's ending on the Reflection OVA as much as I did. Kenshin deserved better. With that said, I'm really looking forward to watching the new upcoming live action movies.
I completely understand the reality that it had to be cancelled before it could be adapted but the very reality that this arc was never animated back then in spite of all the narrative momentum that the show had intact, the innate spiritual caliber that it carried, the endearing voice artists it involved, the stellar music and nostalgic 90s art style it enjoyed, and just the sheer quality of the whole series up to and including this arc brings out a sort of pain I can't even begin to form into speech. I hope someday it gets animated and i'm sure it will be and it'll be great but I'll always deep down wish it had the chance to run its full course during the zeitgeist it was first brought into the world as. To realize that version, what WOULD have been is desiderium without dilution, to me. Executing that level of nuance in the same vein which would've naturally come originally and unabated had it been able to resume until completion is incredibly rare if not outright impossible with the passage of time. If ya want to talk first world problems lol this is one of those more heartaching ones!!
It's better that no Jinnchu arc exists, instead of a rushed arc like Yu Yu Hakusho's _3 Kings_ saga. Both YYH and Rurouni Kenshin as anime end way too fast, especially compared to the zombie series of Dragonball.
I believe Togashi ended YYH because he lost the passion he had for the series so I think he was rushing the final saga because he just wanted to be done with the series. Hopefully the same doesn't happen to Hunter x Hunter despite the amount of hiatuses
Jinchuu arc is arguably best arc in the manga and the final battle with Enishi is one of the best fights if not the best fight in the series. Not the mention the ending was superb and certainly wasn't rushed.
Yes Kenshin. I get curious about characters who are presented bearing the weight of their extraordinarily hard choices. While I liked Rurouni Kenshin, his past was always enticing, especially how it would be hinted at by other characters, usually enemies. A lot of anime utilize history as a plot mechanic, drawing up a big backstory for some predecessors or origin of something. Kenshin had his own history, he was 2 eras in himself. I liked that Trust and Betrayal went there and explored that.
While I am not necessarily opposed to a reboot of the series, I would MUCH rather prefer a studio pickup the rights and give there best attempt to finish the saga properly with the Jinchu arc in a late 90's animation style anime with the original season 1 and 2 voice actors. However I will say that if they do choose to do a complete reboot, they HAVE to do a direct manga to anime adaptation, all 3 seasons, and in the same animation style (I am aware that the new style will differ from the amazing 90's style, but at least keep it consistent... unlike the TRAVESTY they did with High School DXD where the latest season just completely changed to a far worse animation style for no good reason)
@@アンディカ-y5b Wrong. FMA Brotherhood and HxH 2011 are widely accepted as being a lot better than their original counterparts. Anime fans are fine with remakes as long as they actually improve on the originals and follow closely the original author/manga story, instead of changing it.
Two things: - "Samurai X" was a name officially chosen by the author to help to expand the brand all across the world; - I worked for a publishing house in Brazil that published Rurouni Kenshin and he came here on 2015. He said that, despite the OVA ending, Kenshin is not dead. To him, Kenshin is not dead, and that's why he is working in new stories.

a full remake would be better at this. watched the anime like 3 years ago and stopped watching the anime after finishing the Kyoto arc, after reading comments that every else was filler after that i decided to read the manga from the start has a nice ending and it was a good read.
Watsuki said the intention was that Kaoru was indeed dead, Enishi's revenge was to kill Kenshin's loved one. But fans, being fans, didn't like that and he had to retcon her death into a "I have a character that can do convincing human marionettes, so I can just do that" type of resurrection.
It’s possible a complete reboot of the series would be the best bet, and to stay true to the manga’s story as much as possible. It is possible that the final arc will be animated if the demand is there for it to be animated.
As a huge fan of Kenshin, I grew up on this completely, My favorite anime of all time, I was SO obsessed with anime and Kenshin in my Elementary and Middle School days, I really hope someday I will get to see my childhood hero in action again. I never got into the manga as I watched most of the show on Toonami when it aired but men everytime I see something Kenshin related it just hits so hard with my childhood, Awesome video.
After seeing Berserk come back in recent years, I'm ready for a full reboot of Kenshin so we can get the story retold and FINISHED this time. I went through the same journey with the Jinchu Arc after I completed the original series, I want that arc animated so bad!!!
I have lost hope at this point. Even if it comes out I know that is not going to use the same music as the 90s series and the art is not going to look the same. It was just a wasted opportunity and we will have to live with that. Its amazing just how many people loved and watched the anime but never saw the real Jinchu arc because they refuse to read the manga.
Agreed. The directing is phenomenal in the Kyoto arc and the pacing of the animation, like with the Cho episode, Soujiro story and Saito's fight. If they aren't able to get the same director and storyboarders then it won't have the same artistry and vibe. Brilliant animation
I loved your video This series was immensely popular here in Latin America at the beginning of 2000, but here we met it as samurai x since its premiere in toonami.
I just got into Rurouni Kenshin a couple months ago but, let me tell you, I'm obsessed and enthralled with the TV series and manga. The Japanese seiyuu are incredible, especially Mayo Suzukaze who voices Kenshin. The animation in the TV series is, to me, phenomenal; to say I prefer it and the character designs compared to the OVAs would be an understatement. Especially in regards to Kenshin, the TV series takes an awesome character design, great animation, a top-quality voice talent, and excellent characterization to turn out a Kenshin Himura who feels 101% REAL. I desperately want a Jinchu and Hokkaido arc made in the same style as the TV series, with all the same Japanese seiyuu. That is my Holy Grail now. Honestly, I don't think it's too much of a dream considering that Rurouni Kenshin is still very popular and the announcement that a new TV series is underway this year. I've heard rumours that it will only deal with the Hokkaido arc, but I hope they're wrong and will also deal with Jinchu (even if only in flashbacks). Also hoping for at least ONE "oro" from Kenshin.
If Castlevania can get such an amazing anime while being such an old franchise, I'm damn sure Samurai X could as well. I know I'm being optimistic but Rurouni Kenshin has shaped so much of my childhood that I just want to see it end with decency in anime form !
When did Castlevania get an awesome anime cause in 2017-2019 I saw complete edgelord trash pointless profanity liberal western politics in a series that promotes goodness and discipline over evil and apostasy. I think you must have confused Castlevania Netflix for Vampire Hunter D or the episode of captain n where the Belmonts are framed for fraud.
This is my favorite anime/manga. It is also the anime that taught me about what manga and filler is. I sought out the manga and maaaaaan. Volumes 18 through 28....OH MY GOODNESS!
I would say reboot but keep aspect of the colorful anime style, keep the soundtrack as well. I could and would just listen to all the soundtrack. The ending songs are absolutely on fire as well. Sad they had to ruin such a good anime
Thank you. I just finished the Kyoto arc and I was so confused about the franchise as a whole! I love it and I hope we get to see the Jinchuu arc in some iteration! Either live action or anime
And there's the new animated series, still in season one. Now they have no (legitimate) reason to ruin the series with filler, they have a straight-shot all the way through to the end of the Jinchuu arc, new episodes premiering on Friday, available on Crunchyroll. The Jinchuu arc is still an easy 2 years off, at least, but still...
Three years after this video premiered. And I was so happy that the Live Action adaptation (Rurouni Kenshin: The Final) somehow portrays the Jinchu arc. Though I haven't really read the manga but I was so hooked with the anime and saw both OVA's. And now I can't wait for the fifth installment of the movie (The Beginning). All the best!
Just found your channel. Don't really post , but had to here because we have similar stories on how we found kenshin. After all the anime I've seen in my life this one is still my favorite. I have now passed that on to my daughter who has become a huge fan as well.
I have a friend who still loves Rurouni Kenshin. He even ordered a sakabato a long while back and still cherishes it to this day. He'd shit bricks if this show got another shot with it's actual ending.
@@arx117 Correct, English speakers do tend do use English accents when speaking. If you think that's bad you should listen to Japanese people when they try to pronounce anything in English lol
@@machina5 no it's not exactly an English accent, it is just misinterpreting the pronunciation of the Hiragana. Japan uses the writing system known as Hiragana which has characters that can be represented by English alphabet. For the most part their pronunciation is what you would expect for an English speaker: "a" is a short "a" sound, "ka" sounds like "ka", "hi" is "hee", "su" sounds like "sue", and so on. The problem arises when names like "Tomoe", "Sasuke" or "Yusuke" shows up. By English pronunciation rules when a word has a vowel that is followed by an e we are supposed to make the vowel the long version of the character, so if we interpret those names as English words, "Tomoe" would be "Tomo", "Sasuke" would be "Sa-sook" and "Yusuke" would be "Yu-Sook". However in Hiragana, they are pronounced "To-mo-e", "Sa-su-ke", and "Yu-su-ke". The key is to read the Hiragana character by character, and if you want to pronounce the words even more authentically you would read them kind of fast. Just listen to the Japanese dub of Naruto or Yu-Yu Hakusho and you would hear that the "su" in Sasuke and Yusuke are both really short and barely emphasized, to the point where the "u" in the "su" is almost non-existent.
Funny of RUclips to recommend me this. I was a big fan of the anime when I was young, now 29. No anime has ever captivated me as much as Rurouni Kenshin did. In Brazil, the anime first aired in 1999 on national tv, many episodes were missing due to censorship. It then went aired again on Cartoon Network circa 2001, I watched all episodes multiple times after recording them on VHS and knew most of the lines. Then again, in 2003, I heard the local manga publisher had finished the Shishio saga, and would start the Enishi saga, a character I was fascinated by, but only knew through artwork in message boards. I proceeded to hound the newsstand every month to buy every single volume from the Enishi saga, and found it to perfectly end the my favourite anime. I still own them, including "Yahiko's Sakabatou" and the "Kenshin Kaden". Really wish they turned it into an animated series.
Hey be grateful you got the manga ending for Kenshin, imagine the agony of Hunter x Hunter fans still waiting for the continuation of Dark Continent Arc.
I personally would like to see a reboot that has that ark and also includes kenshins backstory and his past and a season taking place when Kenshin was still a assassin
Still my favorite series of all time. I adored the Kyoto arc, and not long after I got the Tales From the Meiji boxed set, and was so disappointed. Similar to you the first manga I ever owned was the Jinchu arc, no joke. Enishi was cool and deserved to have his time to shine. I am not sure about a full reboot, I’d like sort of a updated continuation if that makes any sense. Side note; I HATED Reflections.
I love the 90's style, but sadly I know we won't get that style back. Kenshin is a great manga and anime, despite what happened with the creator. I feel it needs to come back.
Hi. There is significant proof the 95 episode anime series was gearing up to do the Jinchu Arc, and you found some of its evidence. The ending song where you see part of Tomoe's face, is called "1/3 no Junjou na Kanjou". Some lyrics from the song: "Give me smile and shine days// Gimme your smile today//" One of the central themes in the conflict between Kenshin and Enishi is who Tomoe would smile upon. This is no accident. "Kowararuhodoaishitemo sunbun no ichi mo su Tawara nai, Junjou na kanjou wakara mowari, I love you sae ienaideiru my Heart" Translates very roughly to "If I gave you my whole heart, you would only ever feel a third" which details both Kenshin's deep feelings of love and remorse, and Tomoe's feelings of revenge, turned to empathy and love. "1/3 no Junjou na Kanjou" is proof the Jinchu Arc was on it's way, but was never got it....
Complete reboot would be incredible. RuroKen was my favorite anime growing up and is maybe still my favorite manga. A studio like Production IG taking this on would be incredible.
@@JoseRufus idk about that considering they announced and have a trailer for 2 new films adapting jinchuu, the annoucement of a collectors statue that is celebrating the 40th anniversary of kenshin vs shishio and the new manga is still ongoing
Ruruoni Kenshin's Jinchu arc is becoming a Netflix live action 2 movies called The Beginning and The Final, covering the Jinchu arc! TF is already out, TB is coming out this Friday, if anyone is interested!
To me, the Jinchu arc is leagues above Kyoto Arc... Like, i was blown away by it... Yahiko, my most hated character turned in to a badass and it was so believable.... AMAZING!
A reboot may be the best option to do, that way the art style will be consistent and they can maybe use some special effects that they didn't have back then. Over all I would just be happy to have this series return.
I personally really liked the arc with the religious people, even though it does feel like a different story and some of the music of the latter part is amazing (e.g. "Painful Memories") which, could be argued, just makes things worse, because it feels like it could be great but definately isn't
The music used in the last parts of the anime, mostly pieces for piano and strings, is actually from the Rurouni Kenshin: Requiem for the Ishin Shishi movie. It's great music, but the way they just repurposed it for the last filler arcs shows how low effort all of it was.
Yea i liked that one too , seeing someone else that uses the same style of Kenshin besides his mentor was cool , my favorite filler arc .I would love a full on sequel manga series of sort even if is with a new cast but taking place in the same universe , or at least a remake of the anime , that will include the real final arc and maybe those other extra small continuations from the manga (still need to read them , didn't knew the manga was updated with some extra stuff , always wonder what the writter was up too after the series ended ) Maybe i will read the final arc too.
The last two arcs were a touch weird but worked (it was literally the most anime the series ever really felt)... that last one though.. yeeesh. She’s just Started the Jinchu arc
Hi I've just been recently a fan of Rurouni Kenshin. I would love to see that they continue the Jinchuu Arc Sequel from the 90's. Best anime are from the 90's! 😊👍❤️
I hope if they ever reboot the anime, specifically the english manga blasters dub they bring back the og voice actors, and i hope the ost doesnt change at all, or at least the ost gets updated or remixed, and the new hokaido arc gets animated as well!
I would kill for a complete reboot with updated animation, no filler, and adapts the entire manga. Rurouni Kenshin was one of my first anime and its very nostalgic. after finding out the manga went in a different direction i read it to completion and was my first manga and to this day in my top favorites. the storytelling and art is superb. and because of the 90s animation i can say it doesnt fully do it justice, which is why it would be awesome for a complete reboot.
Just to clarify, the Author of Kenshin hated Samurai X Reflections. He stated that after everything kenshin went through, he deserved a Happy Ending.
Why did the author hated it
@@vexfilms8807 Because it stomps on Kenshin's whole journey as a character. Kenshin has been through a lot to forgive himself, find peace, and make a home with Kaoru. He's had to learn self-acceptance and find the will to live for himself and be with the people he loves. But in the Reflections OVA, Kenshin feels guilty for living a happy life with his family, so he leaves his wife and son to go wander again and help people, and Kaoru's like "okay sure, I'll just be waiting here with a smile on my face even though the possibility of you making that decision absulutely terrified me during the whole Kyoto arc, and I had supposedly learned to not just take your questionable choices and stay put but rather fight for the man I love."
Kenshin visited once every blue moon, but Kaoru was pretty much a single mother while her husband went down the guilt rabbit hole again.
@@vexfilms8807 Author wan't kenshin have happy ending .(But seriously fuck kenshin new arc )
@@DollRyougi author create a new hokkaido arc right now
This doesn’t make sense because trust and betrayal is a prequel to the anime series.
the manga author has declared the 2nd OVA where Kenshin dies as non-canon. To quote 'Kenshin went through too much to die like that' which makes sense as the end of the OVA goes against the series' philosophy.
Which we were all greatful for
It might be an unpopular opinion, but I liked it because it put greater weight on his past.
Rurouni Kenshin is one of my favorite anime and it one of the anime that I want to see reanimated alongside Yu Yu Hakusho.

They're making a live-action of this arc
@@megamanx766 I'm ready. I know it'll be 100% better than Seisouhen.
To summarize the video:
Question: Why was the Jinchuu Arc never animated?
Answer: I don't know. But I can tell you things you already know.
Thank you, stopping now
My guess is that because the anime caught up to close to the final arc, and decided to make more filler episodes to fill the void, the anime just wasnt popular enough to continue, so they straight cancelled the anime.

At least we have a live action adaptation now

It did have its problems tho, mainly the total lameass Sushin underlings of Heishin (and also Heishin himself), but they weren't the only ones. Banjin was a total dumbass and Sanosuke didn't really advance his skills.

Just got to the remembrance part of the arc, cant wait, so far I'm loving it, just the mini battles in the beginning hyped me up!
Kyoto arc was the greatest, Shishio and Sojiro rules!
"Never animated" but "Live Actioned" now
I would like the idea of having a live action for the Jinchu arc, Takeru Sato was brilliant in his performance fleshing out Kenshin but even if it will be a trilogy this will be a bit closer to LOTR budget to bring out the story of the whole arc. An anime reboot would be unnecessary since the first 2 seasons of the anime already is good but if they will make the whole arc into a new season that is for me a better way to end this legendary series. With great artist who knows and love the source materials the arc itself does not need a lot of artistic liberty.
@@edgedjbob new movies ARE coming out...

I just hope the new 2023 anime adaptation doesn't get cancelled. This probably our final chance to see a proper adaptation of the final arc
I never thought this arc ever existed up until now. So, it seems I have to find this manga to find what its all about.
Have fun! Don't forget to watch the Trust & Betrayal (Tsuioku-hen) OVA too!
Yeah me too, and also waiting for a reboot with this lost arc
Won't disappoint
After have reading the Jinchu arc, I realized what was made in anime after episode 63 is unforgivable.

However I will say that if they do choose to do a complete reboot, they HAVE to do a direct manga to anime adaptation, all 3 seasons, and in the same animation style (I am aware that the new style will differ from the amazing 90's style, but at least keep it consistent... unlike the TRAVESTY they did with High School DXD where the latest season just completely changed to a far worse animation style for no good reason)
a studio doing 3 seasons... how long would it take--they better start naa-ooowww!!

In case anyone wasn't aware, the live action Rurouni Kenshin movies, just adapted the Jinchu arc.
The RUclips recommendation algorithm has blessed me once again
Subbed for this dope content bro Rurouni Kenshin is one of my top 5 animes of all time
Welcome!
So, the coming Rurouni kenshin movie: The final, is the Jinchu Arc? And The Beginning is Trust and Betrayal OVA?
That's right!
The Jinchu arc is literally what made me get into manga so I NEED an anime in my lifetime
I’ve been saying some of this for a while, man. Absolutely one of the best anime shows and managas of all time.
Rorouni kenshin the final/ the beginning here🖑
After seeing Berserk come back in recent years, I'm ready for a full reboot of Kenshin so we can get the story retold and FINISHED this time.
Or they just dont know much about manga to begin with
Agreed. The directing is phenomenal in the Kyoto arc and the pacing of the animation, like with the Cho episode, Soujiro story and Saito's fight. If they aren't able to get the same director and storyboarders then it won't have the same artistry and vibe. Brilliant animation
Bro it’s coming back!
Great video my dude. Exactly what I was looking for when I searched for this subject
I would say reboot but keep aspect of the colorful anime style, keep the soundtrack as well. I could and would just listen to all the soundtrack. The ending songs are absolutely on fire as well. Sad they had to ruin such a good anime
Keep the same character designs by fumie muroi and Hideki HAMASU and adapt the hokkaido arc
This is one of the few anime I would LOVE a full reboot for. One like the FMA brotherhood anime, where they follow the manga almost religiously.
Thank you. I just finished the Kyoto arc and I was so confused about the franchise as a whole! I love it and I hope we get to see the Jinchuu arc in some iteration! Either live action or anime
Live action is coming for sure!
@@omegagilgamesh yeah I know I'm watching it
Three years after this video premiered.
This is series that I really wish got a new anime adaptation that stays completely faithful to the manga from beginning to end!
Tell your friend we are getting a whole ass faithful adaptation
Her name is To-mo-e (short e), not To-mo.
This happen when English speakers never speaks other language except english.
@@arx117 Correct, English speakers do tend do use English accents when speaking. If you think that's bad you should listen to Japanese people when they try to pronounce anything in English lol
Bob Jones omg thank you, I literally came here to yell about this haha
Someone heard this man's prayer... now you got to support it well, so that it doesn't die
Hey be grateful you got the manga ending for Kenshin, imagine the agony of Hunter x Hunter fans still waiting for the continuation of Dark Continent Arc.
Ha! I want the ending to the "X" manga.
hunter x hunter is a joke very long story
@@tanwodan3689 it is not that long
don't forget berserk
2022, I stumble onto this video on the day the remake Kenshin animation trailer has released. What a time to be alive.
Random but trust an betrayal was always my favorite
Well, it is the best piece of anime in history, so yeah
I personally would like to see a reboot that has that ark and also includes kenshins backstory and his past and a season taking place when Kenshin was still a assassin
If they did a reboot I'd want it in the style of the first OVA. Samurai X is still one of my favorites.
It’s 2023 and your and all us fan’s wish came true. Rurouni Kenshin is back
Still my favorite series of all time.
I too would like a continuation. We seem to be the minority but I feel like redoing it could ruin the magic of what all ready exists.
I hope you make a video about Netflix Rurouni Kenshin The Final. New sub here. Also a long time fan of the series.
I love the 90's style, but sadly I know we won't get that style back. Kenshin is a great manga and anime, despite what happened with the creator. I feel it needs to come back.
i hope the new anime will do Kenshin justice.
Hi. There is significant proof the 95 episode anime series was gearing up to do the Jinchu Arc, and you found some of its evidence.
The ending song where you see part of Tomoe's face, is called "1/3 no Junjou na Kanjou".
Some lyrics from the song:
"Give me smile and shine days//
Gimme your smile today//"
One of the central themes in the conflict between Kenshin and Enishi is who Tomoe would smile upon. This is no accident.
"Kowararuhodoaishitemo sunbun no ichi mo su Tawara nai,
Junjou na kanjou wakara mowari,
I love you sae ienaideiru my Heart"
Translates very roughly to
"If I gave you my whole heart, you would only ever feel a third"
which details both Kenshin's deep feelings of love and remorse, and Tomoe's feelings of revenge, turned to empathy and love.
I hope they make a whole reboot including all the new manga content
They wont cuz of what happened with the author
Hunter Hunter?
@benjamin ramsey the original anime is horrible flawed, and pales in comparison to the anime with its dreadful filler. It needs a reboot
@@JoseRufus idk about that considering they announced and have a trailer for 2 new films adapting jinchuu, the annoucement of a collectors statue that is celebrating the 40th anniversary of kenshin vs shishio and the new manga is still ongoing
Uh did you know what happen to the author?,if they brought it back now it would a total shitstorm.
Ruruoni Kenshin's Jinchu arc is becoming a Netflix live action 2 movies called The Beginning and The Final, covering the Jinchu arc! TF is already out, TB is coming out this Friday, if anyone is interested!
Here after Jinchu arc Trailer, Rurouni Kenshin beginning/end
Rurouni kenshin M0vie 2021 is the Arc that never got to anime ..
The reboot just came out
Fun fact:Eichiro oda of one piece once was assistance of the rurouni kensin mangaka.
Jinchu Arc is now going to be spanning over two movies, on the big screens in Japan. And I could not be happier. :)
At least we get a live action adaptation of the Jinchu Arc
I hated the samurai x branding. I watched this on fan subbed vhs tapes. The translations were done so well.
I love this series and I so wish it will be animated someday. Trust and betrayal is one of my favorite movies ever created
If they can make a reboot of Shaman King and Digimon, we will get a reboot of Kenshin.
The Knights and Ninjas Episodes were cool
Yea i liked that one too , seeing someone else that uses the same style of Kenshin besides his mentor was cool , my favorite filler arc .I would love a full on sequel manga series of sort even if is with a new cast but taking place in the same universe , or at least a remake of the anime , that will include the real final arc and maybe those other extra small continuations from the manga (still need to read them , didn't knew the manga was updated with some extra stuff , always wonder what the writter was up too after the series ended ) Maybe i will read the final arc too.
The last two arcs were a touch weird but worked (it was literally the most anime the series ever really felt)... that last one though.. yeeesh. She’s just Started the Jinchu arc
same thing, i liked it as well, taught some important history about japan that I didn't know when I was young weeb.
They should make like the Final season now that Rurouni Kenshin is very popular these days. I mean it worked for Samurai Jack.
at least the live action movies are doing the last arc
After watching Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning and Rurouni Kenshin: The Final on Netflix, this all made sense to me.
Even Shaman King will get a remake after being butchered originally, I believe Kenshin's time will come eventually.
Personal I'm a fan of the original English dub yip the sony dub. But yeah the ost cannot change
marcus alexander yeah thats one thing i hope that doesnt change at all if a reboot ever sees daylight
Well it’s on it’s way lol
@@Jacintojudio3478 lol
The reboot is already happening!
