The D2 community needs to petition Blizz to make you turn in to a cow when full Cow King set is worn. And add 100% chance to moo in agony when you die.
Tal's is easily the top set through all classes. It can be used for high end PvP, and allows you to hit all the important breakpoints. Rest of the sets hold back their respective classes, but Tals is massive.

Angelic Raiment + Sigon is probably the most overpowered you can possibly be as a twink in normal difficulty. Both have extremely low lvl requirements and you can wear the entirety of both sets at the same time with the only overlap being the chest piece. You can get almost 200% mf with both sets if you use the angelic chest or can just be a bigget melee powerhouse if you use the sigon chest. I always hold onto a full set of both for anytime i roll a new melee character. The moment you hit lvl 12 and put both of them on you are basically immortal all the way thru normal and holds out fairly well thru a good amount of NM too.
I have full trang-ouls, I just don't use it often enough because the faster cast rate is a massive omission. The main benefit from the full set is that you can turn run off and get the defence bonus. You're probably about to mention that in the video but it's 9/10ths of the way to being a mega set.
The lack of FCR really hurts for poison or bone, and the lack of teleport really hurts for a summoner. It's a really awesome set that just isn't good enough, unfortunately.
this is such an excellent overview of the sets! you know, we all accumulate these sets on mules but rarely do we really have the time to research the usefulness of partial sets bonuses. the weap/armor upgrade ability has made some of these old sets worthy all of the way in to hell. what a great video.
I wonder if they've already fixed the full trangs vampire cast speed penalty. It wasn't just the regular penalty you'd expect from the fact that the vamp's animations have more frames - it literally put a cooldown on your bone spear. They did even have a note on Arreat Summit saying they acknowledge it's a bug. So has anything been done with that in D2R?
Sigon's set is insanely powerful for an Assassin due to it's amazing synergy with that character, as it gives you EVERYTHING you need no matter which build you go. It's also insane for a Paladin when using Holy Fire due to the thorns ability helping alongside it. If you pump everything into strength at the beginning until you hit 65, then equip the entire set, you become 100% unkillable. It can easily carry you through Nightmare too. There are other set bonuses that you can use to max out resistances where Diablo can't even kill you when being a really low level Barbarian. Sets are genuinely overpowered in Normal and Nightmare. The dev's should buff Mavina's, due to Stony Tomb now being an area to farm. It would also be good if the dev's decided to rework the requirements on all gear classes, and remove the ridiculous amount of strength required to wear, let's say, a Spired Helm.
Sigon's is also pretty easy to get (as in it drop rates are insanely good) and quite easy to wear since un-upgraded it needs like cLVL 6. The only problem with Sigon's set is that they usually get passed pretty quickly (doing normal and like A1 or A2 on NM is still fine on particular classes) but calling it OP is madness (there are plenty of uniques and runewords that are much more useful especially in mid levels; and it also require a bit of points dumped into STR very early on (not a good deal for caster/dex based characters). Other than that, IMHO opinion it maybe even deserves a higher spot on the set ranking list.
i 100% agree Sig's is the number 1 set i will always pick up a full set through the ladder or single player. normal is a walk with sigs and will take you into NM no prob i drop the shield most often then just replace other peaces at around the lvl 29ish mark
definitely not unkillable. seen someone die with it in like a 5 person game on hardcore. they triggered some monster spawn on act 2 and got surrounded and died instantly.
honestly I dont oppose having a house in D2. That would be sweet if they made it like sims where You can display Your treasures in like museum cases then take it out to put it in inventory.
i gotta tell ya man this is quite an impressive VOD. When I first saw the title and then saw that the video duration is about an hour long I was scratching my head thinking... How in the hell is he gonna talk about top 10 sets for an hour without alot of bullshitting around and babbling on about alot of nothing BUT then I watched/listened and U did a HELL of a job explaining things like " why sets made honorable mentions and why u like or dislike certain aspects of the sets while still getting directly to the point/meat and potatoes of it all. Great job and great break down. Kuddos and keep up the great work.
Well Thank you, I know my content tends to be on the longer side but it makes for great listening while your at work =p. I even format my videos in a way that allows the viewer to listen instead of watch if they want to. This is also one of the reasons you see my videos tend to be hyperfocused on one single topic instead of broad topics like this. Because in general I tend to have a lot to say. So when the focus is broad like top 10 sets ranked, the videos end up being pretty long. But when I Focus on say a single unique item or a single skill the content is shorter and more digestible Anyway I am glad you enjoy the content I have a lot more where this came from =).
I use TO poison nova build with max block and Death's Web. This was an insane cow killer and now with the sunder charms can clear the entire game with ease. It's the only build in game which keeps its max block while moving insanely fast. Even with my 900 hp I haven't died once.
Good video, I didn't know about the usefulness of Iratha so TIL. I'd like to add that Sigon's belt is imo one of the best belt in early game, simply because it gives you max potion slots without upgrading it.
Personally feel like its better paired with two angelic rings and angelic set armor, what I guess could say is the biggest drawback is needed lvl 15 to wear everything, but when you hit that mark its lots of resistance, poison length reduction, reasonable amount of armor and lots of attack rating. Also you don't get nearly as much stamina drain as you do with Sigon's. But around 30 I usually change to unique stuff like most probably do since that when some the good stuff there become available.
Lol no edits just pauses, 🤣 Obs while recording allows you to pause the recording so you can do other things like cough and die in the corner. So instead of editing, I pause the recording while I get whatever I need ready.
Hope they make some new sets too! And name them after other characters we hear the names of during the game, like Horazon, Ku Y'leh, Lam Esen, Talic, Korlic, Madawc etc.
Stunning video I didn't even know you could upgrade set items!? Been playing this game whilst waiting for d4 to drop running LK right now whilst watching this video to make my first infinity And learned so much 10/10 would watch again Also I love the way you pronounce 'especially' xD
Whats great about most top teir sets is that they take alot of the guess work out of a character build, and get your character pretty viable and hell worthy all awhile being realistically affordable to the average player. You throw in and add a few charms and that torch, you're looking at a very respectful build that hangs with the best of em.
You just reminded me that D2 vanilla didn't have cube upgrade recipe for set items at all. Man, to have forgotten that must mean that I accepted it fully. Glad that they changed it in D2R.
Thanks man, really appreciate the thorough content. Am 45yo and been playing D since the very 1st one. But everytime I'm watching one of your vids I'm learning new things 😎
Keep in mind that you mention upgrading the set parts which can only be done by a ladder character currently. In order for all characters to use full sigons right at level 6 they would need to add - requirements to all the parts for the gloves -42%, belt -30%, boots -40%, helmet -30%, body -40%, and shield -40% in order for all classes to be able to equip the full set at level 6. This is figured from the base strength of the sorceress which is 10 at the start of the game + 25 attribute points (5 per level x 5 level ups from level 1 to level 6) putting all points into strength and this also uses the +10 strength from the gloves to equip the rest of the set. As far as it goes currently none of the characters can even equip sigons gloves right at level 6 much less the rest of the set
Love your work, Ginger-sensei !! I listen to your playlists (Uniques / Sets / Skills) regularly while playing D-2R , since getting it on Playstation last month ☺️. One very minor point / question I wanted to mention - on the Sets playlist, you have Naj’s (iirc) as the second to last - and even say in the vid you think it should be the final one. Then the actual last one is Vidalas ? I just wasn’t sure if the order had accidentally been flipped w those two, when you added em’ to the List. Other than that, I’m debating starting a “Poison Necro” to go with the Bone Spear / Prison one I already have.. and I’d love to see you do the Skills vids on those (Dagger / P-Explosion / Nova) at some point, to continue your Skills Analysis Playlist 🙏 PS - thank you SO much for all you do for the game / Community. You have an amazingly helpful channel !
Go Poison Nova and Skeletons. Max Skeletons and get up to summon resist. Max Poison Nova and its bonuses and put the rest / some points along the way into skeleton mastery. For curses use Lower Resist most of the time and then amp damage for your minions. This build rapes.
Probably uploaded them wrong or, completely missed viadals and had to go back to finish that video. As for the Posion Necro skills will be doing videos on them. My list of videos that need to be finished is a mile long so in time
I like Aldur's weapon, it's really nice at level 43 when you get it. Seems like I always get it from NM Andy. Going through early NM is all it's good for though.
of course this video is only opinion based but the craziest part about it is that the number 10 here is by far the MOST seen sets being used on ladder from start to finish lol, for its level nothing competes but like you said past lvl 40 its starts to fail but its almost essential for power lvling any char to 40 imo. leagues better than cowking and the other much higher tier sets it was against. awesome vid bro
Last week, I wore a full Iratha's set for the first time. I've played over the years, and I would usually just throw the helmet on before fighting normal Diablo. But, yeah, I tried the whole set on my Javazon, and I used it from Act 4 in normal until Act 1 or so in Hell. It's an under-rated set for sure!
I would have rated it higher it it weren't so difficult to obtain and to deck out in jewels and runes.. Moral of the story is, yes you can make Griswold's insane but you need insane jewels and insane runes to do it.
As a complete set, IK is very hard to beat for its cost. I started as barb on D2R launch, and I got the set on like day 3 or 4. I always mained barb, but surprisingly never played full IK, and I was amazed how strong it is. Super tanky, massive AR bonus solves hit chance issues, farms CS solo easily. Only drawback is shattering corpses, but honestly the CC freezee provides made me content with it (bosses rarely shatter anyway, and I did take it up to 90). As partial set uses, I agree with your list 100%
Thanks for the info ggm! Fyi there is a faint electronic beeping or whining sound in the background of this and at least one other video I’ve seen recently.
can't find it, whatever it is I can't hear it and there are so few objects in my studio that could even make the noise. I honestly wish I knew what it was.
So just realized something about the Trang gloves that was different back in LoD days. Don't think most people noticed this but that +25% to poison mastery use to require 2 or 3 peices of the set which kinda messed with builds outside of necros. So the set defilently got an upgrade making it more useful for other classes.
Love Trangs! One of the best things about it (as HC especially) is the huge 25% damage reduction from the full set which paired with the defense walk bonus makes for truly tanky characters.
Love the video and the detail you go into, and I can even understand how you came to your number one choice. However, you understated how good Tal Rasha's set is for the sorcerous. Tal's set when used to the full potential on the sorcerous is leaps and bounds better than what you could get out of any other set in the game, specifically for endgame use, and it's one of the best gear choices for sorcerous in the game. It is very expensive and difficult to build a better sorc than a full Tal's sorcerous. The damage, the resistances, the faster cast rate, and the insane magic find boost are all top tier. In order to gear up past it you need vex rune for HOTO, one of three unique helms (shako, griffons, or nightwings), Mara's amulet, arachnid mesh, at the very least Skin of the Viper magi for the armor but even with those pieces you're going to be losing out on potential magic find. When I say you need those pieces, I mean you need them to keep your FCR breakpoints, Max resistances, and to improve your damage over Tals. Without them, you're better off using full Tal set or at least the 3 piece (amulet, chest, belt). There's no comparison when it comes to that level of disparity. Trang's is easily matched in value for necro without needed the set bonuses imo, you just use the gloves with homunculus and arachnid mesh. I prefer the Trangs in that situation still, but it's not as big of a disparity as it is with Sorc trying to piece out suitable replacements which is nearly impossible to do without high runes.
@@LaPoubelle42 my problem with Tals is it's not Best in Slot for any build. It's good yes and that's why it ranked in the first place. But once you get Best in Slot gear who is really using it? Not a lot of people still rock Tals after they get their optimal setups. Kill speed > Magic find 3 piece Tals finds moderate usefulness for the magic find specifically. But not as a Final setup. But fear not I have an idea for a video cooking on magic find equipment. And Tals will obviously be high on that list.
@ thanks for replying. You're absolutely right, it's not BiS. Trang's belt, gloves, shield combo is considered BiS for poison necro. And I agree that kill speed is most important. I've been grinding solo a lot lately with blizzard sorc, and I admit that I swapped off of full Tal set as soon as I found a nightwings to increase my damage. I guess the experience I'm trying to show that is unique to Tal's is just upgrading from it. Once you have full Tal's, you don't need to upgrade anymore. Especially if you're farming online P1. There are upgrades, but they usually get expensive and they don't make a huge difference on P1 for blizz sorc. You're already able to farm any area in hell difficulty with complete ease. That's completely unparalleled from any other full set for endgame farming, and the 3 piece for MF is arguably BiS for MF since you leave your helm and weapon slots up for damage increases. Either way, it's an interesting comparison and I don't think any other channel highlights the unique value of Trangs and the argument for it's spot at number 1 like you do. I also learned a lot about Iratha's set which I'd never considered using until now.
@@LaPoubelle42 I mean you gotta give it to trangs it has multiple best in slot uses. Even the sorc running Tals set is usually using Trangs gloves as their BiS lol 3 piece Trangs is BiS for poison Necro. Trangs belt is BiS for cannot be frozen when you can't use ravenfrost or other options. The gloves are Best in slot for non Necro poison builds because of the poison skill damage. Though not Best in Slot, Trangs armor is amazing early Necro kit. And full Trangs has a unique transformation that does something no other set does. 4+ Best in Slot uses, People actually use the full set, the gear is arguably well regarded in general. Basically every class hunts for the gloves for FCR. What set is better honestly?
I don't understand how the iratha's set is giving you 95% (overcapped 85%) resists in normal mode. You've got 30% from individual item bonuses, 15% from the amulet partial bonus, and 20% from the set bonus. That still only adds up to 65%, where's the last 30% resistances coming from?
My favorite set is M'avs for a freezing/exploding arrow zon. I play hardcore, and it's amazing for that. You get full res, decent MF, and you can farm anywhere in the game safely, even on higher player counts all for an ist rune or less.
Trang- Oul, Tal Rasha and Inmortal King sets give you an amazing amount of resistances from all, very high defence, life, dextery, strengh, damage rating, skills points, magic finding and drain mana/life for hit. But they are designer for a specifical class build, Trang Oul and Tal Rasha is for long distances with magical attacks and Inmortal King is for short distance with meele attack. You can very easily beat the game since normal to hell with anyone of those full sets without a merc support you, Even "Terror zones". (Except Ubers) here you will need a very good merc gear for help you survive and kill Duriel, Izual, Lilith and the Three Evil Primes Ubers together.
I believe Mavina should have been ranked higher simply because it has allowed me to create a budget bowazon that can farm anywhere. After getting more equipment like Highlord, SOJ, Raven Frost and 4pcs of +Bow Skillers I can farm literally anywhere including Baal. Not the fastest Baal runner but definitely bang for the buck.
Solid rankings, can't argue with much. Yes folks dislike the fast cast issue with Trang's but it's the ONLY way to run and have full def and block in the game. Add that to the other goodies the full set does and it makes the helmet worth wearing even. Poison Nova necros with a few facets can make this nasty indeed
@@cIeetz Yeah it's a pretty major feature, and especially with poison necro, fast cast isn't important. Really not much of an issue for the summon necro w/ corpse explosion either. It's a bfd vs those damn piercing ranged missiles
Every time I level a new caster, I use Sig's boots, gloves, and belt, with full Cathan's until I can level up enough to equip stuff like leaf, stealth, and Vipermagi. It's a very short window of usefulness I know, but I stash enough +str charms to be able to equip the Sigon's pieces at lvl 6. Kind of bummed Cathan's didn't get an honorable mention. It makes those 6/8 levels super quick.
Ggm is the Encyclopedia Britannica of D2R. Best on youtube bar none and i watch a lot content creaters. He even comments on recent questions on his old videos. The man is the GOAT
I know that cosmetic is a totally superficial feature, but come on. IK= glow. Mavina= Glow. Tals= glow. Aldurs= glow. Natalya's= see-through? Trang= FREAKING VAMPIRE! The run/walk thing is definitely OP and I was unaware of it. Awesome list!
Yes now the road can use the moving his butt as well as several other pieces of the set. Theoretically put the bow the helmet in the armor on her and get the three-piece bonuses
For sigons, I leveled a pally suuuuper easy to hell with it. I wanted to be a smiter, but was having super poor luck getting a shield. so until I got a 4os pally shield, I just had 1 point into sacrifice and put that on left click and literally just left clicked my way through. granted, I had to have healing pots ready for skeles. I think the weapon I was using for a long time was civerbs
I like the 3 piece combos from Sigon’s, and later IK. Specifically the G/B/B of both. The Hs are also great on both. But the 3 piece is what I usually run on my melee char as a base setup. IK 3 piece strength, vitality, ias, +ar, fhr, frw, and def are all sweet for 3 piece. And that’s off top of my head for non barb. Sigon’s has the ias, frw, mf, and Def for early leveling. None are necessarily BiS, but can definitely get you through the search for BiS no problem.
42:30 When you put just the belt(upped) it claims just 24 level of req but when both pieces added together it transforms to 29 lvl of req and this is a correct one since people complained that before level 29 it is impossible to use it.
I like sigon's head and armor on melee mercs in normal. I had them run across the whole normal with those two items and decent poking stick in hand without any issues multiple times ( on player 8 ).
Sigons and Death's sets are probably the two best sets for hardcore players early on. These two sets basically make most of the low level unique items useless.
Sigon's is VERY underrated. I have no idea why this guy doesn't like it. It's literally OP for all classes apart from the 2 dedicated casters, which are Sorc and Necro. You can even benefit from it when using a Fire Druid, and especially if you use a Trap Assassin.
@@WardenOfTerra Everyone knows that Sigs are basically one of the best sets in game you can legit use it up til like lvl 60 and still be viable and tear it up.
The Disciple set is missing here. Since most of the sets here include a (mediocre) weapon and yes that can be a problem, The Disciple should be mentioned.
@@francootaola9172 down the rabbit hole we go. O-Skills are skills granted to you by a piece or pieces of equipment. They don't just allow you to use the skill, they grant the skill to you as if you own it and plus to skills effects the O-Skill.
I am afraid that unless something was changed in last patches that Fire Mastery doesn't affect the fire part of CE. As far as I understand that was tested with use of CE items and a sorc. But I am not sure about Full trangul since CE is a native skill for a necr and things might be different.
A lot of those sets are especially useful for leveling. I think that was a little bit lost there because all the earlier sets where upgraded. When you wear Trang-Oul full set you will have *terrible* faster cast frames. On that alone I would disagree that this is the best set.
I really luke using Guillaumes Face with the belt on my barb, the 5/5mana and life leech is great and the 2pc bonus grants 35 life and its w9rked amazing
Made a barb in d2 resurrected on ps4, he's level 13 right now, and I have cleglaws shield and gloves, sigons helm and belt, and isenharts sword and armour, it seems like a pretty great combination for him so far
Damn I didnt know Iratha was so badass...10% every resistance cap on every res type is so huge on hardcore. Throwing an Um in the helmet to top up resistances even further and possibly pairing that with something like a Shaftstop body which reduces physical damage by 30% to prevent deaths by dolls exploding would be legit. Then wearing a couple spirit runewords in the weapon and shield slot which are easy to farm runes for to get the resistances, magic absorb, +500 to defense from missiles, and +4 to skill levels, You would be pretty damn tanky.
Yes Iratha's is one of the tankiest sets in the game easily making your character into basically an unkillable god as low as level 15. When paired up with something like Dark Glow Ring mail you can actually get all your resistances up to 90% at lvl 15 with ease. Or just use some very offensive equipment like Twitchthroe or BoneFlesh Even in nightmare and Hell difficulty it can still be useful.
All I ever seem to find is either Isenhart's Case (sucking armor) or Sander's Rip Rap (awesome pair of boots). What is funny: These are not unique. I find spare pairs of these boots every other session. Or is it a bug, because I had Anya personalize my well-worn pair to "Nightingale's Sander's Rip Rap"?
I have to finally ask/mention if anyone has ever noticed that sometimes when you take something out of your cube, you health goes down? You’re even injured. Not taking about a charm which adds to life either. It’s a small amount of health but it makes me think you were in the cube too long, like it’s a hell raiser cube.
While I agree with your assessment of the top sets, I feel like sets need to be reevaluated given the modern context of the game. There are some seriously questionable choices in itemization that limit the usefulness of the set, especially when compared piece-by-piece to things like Shako or other "meta" options. I believe each set needs an identity within the meta, or as a logical step in your progression through the meta in order to be compelling to players; like seen in Tals and Trangs. It is probably the least exciting balancing that can be done, but the ability to actually wear some of the items that have a unique appearance without majorly limiting your character would be beneficial to the health of the game imo.
Damn...as soon as I saw the title my guess was Angelics would be #1 on the list.... fun vid good stuff Also.....I wasn't looking at the screen when you said the #1 and I thought you said Tancreds....I almost fell off the couch lol
Personally I like combo sig glove, belt boot and maybe helm, then the rest be angelic set to slap some elemental effects at 60% ias. Pick your own shield or helm, but those pieces slap!
I would if you don't have like Wealth RW or 4 Ptopaz socketed body armor. Can never have enough MF. Moar is bettah! I ran full Cowking for my budget Frenzy/ WW Barb with double Bloodletter gladius' and it was pretty damn good setup too. I don't see why it wouldn't work with ur Java.
Mavina's is a terrible set for an Ice bowzon because it basically has 0 negative Cold res. And if also consumes all the slots you would use for negative Cold res. The other big issue with Mav's is that it sucks partial. So putting on a few pieces of it isn't an option either
I think it also depends what level You are. I'm fairly new to D2 and didnt even know you could upgrade set gear before watching this vid. People like Sigons at low level cause its complete, but Isenhart is also a good starter setup as well as civerbs if You are a pally. I guess as you get higher level splitting the sets up is a better option typically except with certain ones like Tal Rasha.
Depends on the Set Item, but if you check any of my Set Videos I have the Corresponding recipes for each set as I always upgrade the items in each video. There are basically 4 different recipes depending on what you are upgrading. For Instance Normal Armor -> Nightmare Armor is Shael + Tal + P Diamond
I think the thing that kills a good number of sets too is just that you can find some really good rares, actually. Or make like a blood helm or something like that. I have a pair of rare boots with 2 res globs of MF and run walk and like, besides crushing blow or something else uniques might offer, those are Fantastic boots. I don't think people sleep on rares or anything at least experienced players and its obvs always a gamble but worth checking. BOUND to find some good rares espesh cause they can be upped.
I love that fire mastery bonus with the full set My firemancer has fun with the corpse explosions and the fire walls on nice thing is the skeletons keep the monsters tied down in firewalls. If you are a pure summon necro the firewalls from the 3 piece bonus makes a tremendous difference in areas like maggot lair and other tight spaces like jail or arcane sanctuary flayer dungion and choke points in act 3 bridges or act 2 doorways
I would love to see a balance state of the game where we can use the full 5pc trangs, Fire golem, CE and LR from the necro kit and the Fire skills from the set bonus to make a full Pyromancer. It would have all the same issues as other fire builds, but the bones being there already for another way to play the necro makes me want it to happen.
@@gabes7356 that sounds like a pretty solid build option. maybe remove the LR diminishing returns so it makes sense to put more than one point in it; with enough +skills you hit the soft cap of -63. I also like the idea of rolling +% elemental damage for both the Fire golem and mages into the summon resist skill; maybe call it "elemental mastery". At present there isn't any reason to take more than one point so a synergy bonus might make it more appealing.
Oh shit! I'm literally at Baal in hell difficulty right now and am still using the regular death's sash. I had no idea you could upgrade it so I've just had 2 rows for potions the entire game 😅😂
I don't really agree with his take in regards to M'avina's set. It favors the Amazon's cold skills, but it also boosts everything else. Javelin skills get a 2 point boost while passive and bow skills get 5 or 6. It isn't detrimental to your amazon build unless you're already wearing gear specific to your amazon's skills.
@@GGMentor exactly. I am playing Barb only weapon mastery skill and I had luck to find early game in normal full Civerb. Actually I socketed and corrupted the mace and it's damage leveling up with me. I actually use it now on nightmare too but you can feel that on hell I will need better. My goal is Immortal King cuz I am playing mele only
Great content as usual. Not sure if I agree w trans over tals just cuz of the fcr drop as a vampire, but it is definitely still a top tier set as you outlined. Never knew about iratha's so thanks for that as well.

Full Trangs actually goes against your FCR sadly. You're better off using only 3 pieces of it I believe it was.
The lack of FCR really hurts for poison or bone, and the lack of teleport really hurts for a summoner.

Sigon with Cathan Amu and 2 Cathan Rings +20 str 12% LL ftw
definitely not unkillable. seen someone die with it in like a 5 person game on hardcore. they triggered some monster spawn on act 2 and got surrounded and died instantly.
I absolutely love set items. I wish Blizzard included a display area in the game where you can put your collected complete sets and display them.
that would be awesome
honestly I dont oppose having a house in D2. That would be sweet if they made it like sims where You can display Your treasures in like museum cases then take it out to put it in inventory.
yeah, that would be epic. rly good idea bro@@cIeetz
@@cIeetz this could make an epic boost in game time
Sigon's carried gens of chars through normal and into nightmare back in the day. Good memories..
The plus 12 regen on angelic also lets you use the 100% bleed runeword without worrying about the negative effects, too.
i gotta tell ya man this is quite an impressive VOD.
But when I Focus on say a single unique item or a single skill the content is shorter and more digestible
Anyway I am glad you enjoy the content I have a lot more where this came from =).
I did notice that knockback works well with a whirlybarb because you can knock enemies back and continue to spin into them again.
Excellent work my friend. You taught us about little details that make the difference. D2R is a new game now.❤
As always, your content is criminally underrated!
A pure stuff conversation, the guy really love d2... nice info and work...
Fantastic content! Honorable mention: Arcanna's Tricks. Massive amount of mana on any caster.
I love the fact that you edited the video, it help the flow, good job.
Lol no edits just pauses, 🤣
Obs while recording allows you to pause the recording so you can do other things like cough and die in the corner.
So instead of editing, I pause the recording while I get whatever I need ready.
3 pieces sigons (gloves, belt, and boots) combined with full isenharts then angelic ami and ring is the way to go for early game melee.
I’ve been running a Bliz sorc with Angelics and half of Sigons for insane magic find in low level gear. Took me through NM no problem
Hope they make some new sets too! And name them after other characters we hear the names of during the game, like Horazon, Ku Y'leh, Lam Esen, Talic, Korlic, Madawc etc.
Horazon's Urinal set 🤣
Wirt's Whizzy Wonder... 283% faster run/walk on boots.
This video was awesome! I was grinding countess while listening to this and she dropped me an Ist!
Niiiiiiice
Stunning video
I didn't even know you could upgrade set items!?
Been playing this game whilst waiting for d4 to drop running LK right now whilst watching this video to make my first infinity
And learned so much
10/10 would watch again
Also I love the way you pronounce 'especially' xD
"I didn't even know you could upgrade set items!?"
That was added like a year and a half ago on a d2r patch
Whats great about most top teir sets is that they take alot of the guess work out of a character build, and get your character pretty viable and hell worthy all awhile being realistically affordable to the average player. You throw in and add a few charms and that torch, you're looking at a very respectful build that hangs with the best of em.
Always learning something useful. Thanks a lot Ginger.👍
Run sigon helm+gloves, hsarus belt+boots, and angelic rings+ammy. Would love to see how the AR turns out with different skills
Sigons and angelics are my two favorite. Broken up bonuses how and where you need them suit every champion at different times.
Sigs will always be one of the best sets in game.
Glad I can help
Other than that, I’m debating starting a “Poison Necro” to go with the Bone Spear / Prison one I already have.. and I’d love to see you do the Skills vids on those (Dagger / P-Explosion / Nova) at some point, to continue your Skills Analysis Playlist 🙏
PS - thank you SO much for all you do for the game / Community.
It's an under-rated set for sure!
pair it with treachery and win
Griswold full set is one of my favorite sets. Super useful. Cant say enough.
I would have rated it higher it it weren't so difficult to obtain and to deck out in jewels and runes..
Moral of the story is, yes you can make Griswold's insane but you need insane jewels and insane runes to do it.
I was just wondering, wouldn't 4x amn rune in the weapon be godly?
As a complete set, IK is very hard to beat for its cost. I started as barb on D2R launch, and I got the set on like day 3 or 4. I always mained barb, but surprisingly never played full IK, and I was amazed how strong it is. Super tanky, massive AR bonus solves hit chance issues, farms CS solo easily. Only drawback is shattering corpses, but honestly the CC freezee provides made me content with it (bosses rarely shatter anyway, and I did take it up to 90).
As partial set uses, I agree with your list 100%
You play it as WW barb? Always asked myself how Concentrate would do.

@@GGMentor I have sensitive ears. I originally thought it was something in my room haha. I’m probably in the minority that notice this stuff.
Kill speed > Magic find
3 piece Tals finds moderate usefulness for the magic find specifically.
Even the sorc running Tals set is usually using Trangs gloves as their BiS lol
3 piece Trangs is BiS for poison Necro.
@ solid argument, and vampire looks cool. I'm here for it
I don't understand how the iratha's set is giving you 95% (overcapped 85%) resists in normal mode. You've got 30% from individual item bonuses, 15% from the amulet partial bonus, and 20% from the set bonus. That still only adds up to 65%, where's the last 30% resistances coming from?
Any additional resistance is gonna put you over.
30% from the three anya quests a good shield with res, a res armor ect
@@GGMentor It was the anya quests I was forgetting about thanks.
Poison Nova necros with a few facets can make this nasty indeed
i didnt know about the run and still have defense. thats hard to argue with for a hardcore player.
Cathans is much better now that they upgraded it, it's still very niche for fire users though

It's Wikipedia not Britannica, duh
(I have the full set, no pun intended)
I knew that making this top was a good idea, nice job 👏
Wonder if full faceted griswold holy shock pally with a sunder would do well
Yes it would do well actually
Been using Sigon (Gloves+Boots) as well and Angelic (ring and amulet) for years
I know that cosmetic is a totally superficial feature, but come on. IK= glow. Mavina= Glow. Tals= glow. Aldurs= glow. Natalya's= see-through? Trang= FREAKING VAMPIRE! The run/walk thing is definitely OP and I was unaware of it. Awesome list!
"Natalya's= see-through?"
fade does it better :]
M'Avina could potentially now be usef by the rogue, could be useful (especially the bow)?
Thanks alot for another great video 👍
Its little things like this that help.me get through another boring day at work ❤
Sigons and Death's sets are probably the two best sets for hardcore players early on.
In an unrelated post, can you run 'grief' in a berserker axe?
with the belt and gloves/boots of Sigon's; you can clear the whole normal and nightmare. Sigon's belt is a kickass item.
The Disciple set is missing here.
Since most of the sets here include a (mediocre) weapon and yes that can be a problem, The Disciple should be mentioned.
Question, is it possible to use 3 part set with a fire wizard to have + to fire ball etx etc...
The plus to skills are O-Skills and to prevent exactly what you have in mind O-Skills we're capped at +3 on the native class.
@@GGMentor O-skills?
@@francootaola9172 down the rabbit hole we go.
O-Skills are skills granted to you by a piece or pieces of equipment.
They don't just allow you to use the skill, they grant the skill to you as if you own it and plus to skills effects the O-Skill.
Isn’t the „great“ gris shield only for Palas? Thought that wasn‘t so good for Aldurs helmet? I get that it‘s still great, but not for every character
I am afraid that unless something was changed in last patches that Fire Mastery doesn't affect the fire part of CE. As far as I understand that was tested with use of CE items and a sorc. But I am not sure about Full trangul since CE is a native skill for a necr and things might be different.
Wearing the full set on the necro sadly reduces your FCR frames to a point where casting feels like a waste of time. Other than that, it's cool :)
Or just use some very offensive equipment like Twitchthroe or BoneFlesh
Even in nightmare and Hell difficulty it can still be useful.
Iratha's is sooo good. Rocking 95% resistances in NM with no resistances from charms. Holy Fire Zeal build
Is it possible to wear two complete sets at the same time? If so which ones?
Does anyone know if Sigon's glove affect a WW barb or shapeshifter druid? Do they see the IAS?
They do now after 2.4.3
All I ever seem to find is either Isenhart's Case (sucking armor) or Sander's Rip Rap (awesome pair of boots).
Lol gonna take your soul 😈
It’s been a bug for a long time
While I agree with your assessment of the top sets, I feel like sets need to be reevaluated given the modern context of the game.
Damn...as soon as I saw the title my guess was Angelics would be #1 on the list.... fun vid good stuff
Also.....I wasn't looking at the screen when you said the #1 and I thought you said Tancreds....I almost fell off the couch lol
Don't land on the cat🐈
Very nice video, bro, thank you. :)
I literally have been playing kinda wanted to try out trang-oul set but the only piece I found was the helm haha
Personally I like combo sig glove, belt boot and maybe helm, then the rest be angelic set to slap some elemental effects at 60% ias. Pick your own shield or helm, but those pieces slap!
Thinking cow kinda might be good to replace my shako, smoke, war travs for Pindle runs. Thoughts? (Javazon)
What about M’avina’s with ICE as a swap? Is Mavina’s bow THAT nice?
Mavina's is a terrible set for an Ice bowzon because it basically has 0 negative Cold res.
And if also consumes all the slots you would use for negative Cold res.
The other big issue with Mav's is that it sucks partial. So putting on a few pieces of it isn't an option either

Non ladder can't upgrade sets

@@GGMentor well that sucks for me thanks for answering the question man
I think it also depends what level You are. I'm fairly new to D2 and didnt even know you could upgrade set gear before watching this vid. People like Sigons at low level cause its complete, but Isenhart is also a good starter setup as well as civerbs if You are a pally. I guess as you get higher level splitting the sets up is a better option typically except with certain ones like Tal Rasha.
how do you upgrade set items?
Depends on the Set Item, but if you check any of my Set Videos I have the Corresponding recipes for each set as I always upgrade the items in each video.
There are basically 4 different recipes depending on what you are upgrading.
For Instance Normal Armor -> Nightmare Armor is Shael + Tal + P Diamond
Sazabis + lawbringer on an act 5 Merc....haven't tried it yet but I'm hopeful.
Works good
Wow, I really overlooked the Trang set. I am gonna wear that set on my 2nd Necro.
I like griswald set on a foh build. Not as diverse as your north star pally, but for dueling non sorbed the foh with gris slaps.
I'm surprised that there's no honorable mention for artic furs 2 piece. If you up the armor, it has insane ED if you need more armor mid-game
what are the receipes to get greens to elite ?
I think the thing that kills a good number of sets too is just that you can find some really good rares, actually. Or make like a blood helm or something like that. I have a pair of rare boots with 2 res globs of MF and run walk and like, besides crushing blow or something else uniques might offer, those are Fantastic boots. I don't think people sleep on rares or anything at least experienced players and its obvs always a gamble but worth checking. BOUND to find some good rares espesh cause they can be upped.
I really like Magnus skin. That AR is so good.
What they could do is make skeleton mages synergize lower resistance it maybe every point in mages -2% more lower
I think that Civerb set deserves a place in honorable mention. Its 3 piece set Mace Shield and Amulet
The mace is useful the set is not, it's rather bad actually.
But the mace is often used by many characters leveling up for an easy scalable weapon.
@@GGMentor exactly. I am playing Barb only weapon mastery skill and I had luck to find early game in normal full Civerb. Actually I socketed and corrupted the mace and it's damage leveling up with me. I actually use it now on nightmare too but you can feel that on hell I will need better. My goal is Immortal King cuz I am playing mele only
@@GGMentor please if you have any suggestions on builds or skills please feel free to help me out
Great content as usual. Not sure if I agree w trans over tals just cuz of the fcr drop as a vampire, but it is definitely still a top tier set as you outlined. Never knew about iratha's so thanks for that as well.
Great video! 👍
