As a pokemon boomer im loving vintage being low. I stick to psa vintage singles and buy one booster box or etb of the most recent sets. This is just what i like to do. Best of luck to all modern collectors/investors. There is plenty of room for everyone in this hobby!
@@douglaschristopher9873 well Im sure like the cycle we are seeing now some will be picked and chosen bread winners and modern will still be modern. Pokemon has repeated itself for 30 years now. Pretty easy market to follow over the sp500 and very predictable. Its the most sold IP in not the us, but the world. Even if its bumped out of top spot. Still gonna take an army to bring pokemon down. Especially after the boom we just got. Its bigger now than its ever been. 30 years later. What else you see that in?

My prediction has nothing to do with the IP. I'm just as confident as the other side is when it comes to where modern will be in 10 years. Sealed will be decent, but to begin to think that this current cycle of cards will not be "outdated" in 10 years, seems to ignore the definition of time and popularity. TV, music, books, etc....change, change, change in terms of popularity. If and when that happens....that is when I believe things will be remarkably different.
Not true. Vintage has limited appeal and the consumer groups of those cards is mostly already active. Kids today will not grow up wanting vintage cards they have no nostalgia or feelings for. They’re going to want the modern stuff they’re now chasing.
Nobody has a crystal ball, but there are ways to pretend like you know what you are doing, for example: - I say product A goes to moon and lambo. I, my friends and 5% of my subs( the greater fools believing I am Nostradamus) buy. Price goes up. I make second video telling people I was right. - I choose an obviously good product (that other creators may also be talking about) and product goes up. I make second video telling people I was right. This is so easy to game, especially when the categories withing the collectables market are so small...
I'd say most mid-era/WotC era cards aside from the bangers are much more affordable than ultra modern cards. A lot of the unlimited base, jungle, fossil, team rocket and Neo series holos are selling for about $10-$30 while ultra modern gallery and illustration cards are selling for about the same. It feels like a lot of people forgot about what reprints are since there hasn't been any S&V reprints for awhile now. I didn't invest into S&V otherwise I'd be sell Sell SELLING right now!
do you think the pokemon card market, especially modern, follows a similar trend to the stock market? the card market is very strong right now, lots of prices are on the rise. likewise the dow and other indices are also at high points. if there were a sudden drop in the stock market, would you expect to then see a big drop in the card market follow?
I think there are always going to be segments booming and segments falling. Right now SWSH has been declining while other areas are booming. Just ebs and flows in my opinion. I do not think we will see the entire market all fall at once though. People will always be spending their disposable income somewhere.
I have seen Dark Charizard 1st holo #4 is down by 15-20%... Maybe time to buy it? And what about a Charizard gold star BGS 9 that I found at 3k €? Lastly, what do you think about Heavy Hitters box (with EVS) at 110€?

I would say no. That’s $6+ per pack I think you can do better. I just picked up 3 build and battle stadiums for $45 each after tax and shipping a couple weeks ago. Just gotta be vigilant
