As guitarist, vocalist and one of the main writers in the band, John was responsible for such classic songs as "Mockingbird", "Child of the Universe", "Poor Man's Moody Blues",
"Hymn" and many more. When the original band came to an end in 1998, John teamed up once more with fellow BJH found Woolly Wolstenholme (who had left the band in June 1979).
With new members Craig Fletcher (bass, vocals) and Kevin Whitehead (drums) the band recorded the album "Nexus" and the live album "Revival".
In 2006 John Lees' Barclay James Harvest embarked on a UK tour which produced the CD and DVD "Legacy". Jez Smith joined the band in 2009 on keyboards and the group continued to play throughout Europe and
visited the USA. With Woolly Wolstenholme's sad passing in 2010, John Lees' Barclay James Harvest resolved to keep performing and in 2013 released the album "North".
