- Newcastle United are still chasing a place in next season's Europa League or UEFA Conference League after beating Burnley 4-1. But what do Eddie Howe's men need to do still, to ensure a top 7 finish and the chance to play in European competition again next season?

The race is on, do you think Newcastle finish above Chelsea and Man Utd?
Yes, with a low, but non-zero chance to finish above spurs too
I'm sure we will defeat BHA, so we should at least 1 Win and 1 Draw among MUFC and Brentford
Congrats on the new format and subscribers Ian. Nervous about Chelsea now - we were woeful for 50 mins against Sheffield and 25 against Burnley. Better teams would have buried us. On the flip side I expect wins in the last 3 games as all 3 will cone at us and we know how lethal we are on the counter.
whey aye
@@TheJDUBMedia Cheers Dexter. Yes a good point about the style of the teams we have left to face - a style that generally favours us.
mad that we're only 4 goals away from equalling our highest ever goal tally with 3 games still to play - and that was Kevin Keegans Entertainers in a 42-game season!
It’s absolutely incredible
Fighting for 6th considering the injuries is unbelievable, if we’d managed to beat Luton, Bournemouth, Everton and forest at home, we’d be challenging for top 4 again. Summer window is massive, if we can strengthen correctly, we’ll be a force to be reckoned with next season
I agree. Really feel like we’re still there. Regroup in the summer, strengthen, keep the stars and go again. Nothing to be frightened of.
If we’d won more games we’d be higher in the table? That’s a great insight
@@daveherdman8620 I just mean that they’re all games we should have won, you must be a miserable man, Dave
Joelinton made more tackles in 10 minutes than Longstaff did all game. I'm more than happy to see him and Murphy as squad playersnext season- but if we are ever gonna win anything we have to keep bruno, Willock and Bruno fit and starting at least 40 games each season
I agree, Joelinton has been such a huge miss. Tonali to come back too - we’ve got strength in that area
Love the little post it notes Ian ahah
Haha thanks 😂
New subscriber loving the content m8
Thanks very much Paul, really appreciate that. 👏🏼
Your videos are always so informative and interesting
Cheers Ste, that means a lot. Thanks.
It's definitely doable. Tbh, our hardest match is likely Brighton, not Manure.
Can only assume the McLaren shirt was foreshadowing for Lando
Haha I’m buzzing 🧡
Man United away is basically a cup final
It is a huge game for both teams and will decide who finishes above who I think.
I hope not, on past performances - hope it’s more of a semifinal, the lads will do better 😉
Very true, we need to do them 🥊💪🏼💥🤍🖤
Sorry to disagree with the Pope back in goal take. I think that Martin has earned the right to finish out this season. I may be wrong in this opinion.....
Fair enough, there’s a fair chance he plays the last 3 games tbf. But I think Pope is a much better keeper overall.
You're not
When you look back at some of the games we blew we should of been up there
Yes we would. And we've scored more goals and could have more wins than last season too. Amazing really. We did draw a lot last season though.
I m3an last season we ONLY concede 33 goals on the prem. We are already at 56 goals conceded. If we conceded let say 10 less goals we'd be in ucl again
I don’t think Tino and Hall are getting enough probs for the way the both of them are playing they have been excellent both of them
Yes both looking very very good and should be our full backs for years to come
I don’t think Man U are the threat, Chelsea are the threat
I agree about Chelsea, gonna be close with Man U though. Hopefully Palace can take points from them today
I would agree on the 7 required
Let's hope we get them!
After Man U lost we only need 4 points (assuming Chelsea don't make up a 10 goal swing). You can boil it down to this. Beat Brighton at home, and the only way we don't get 6th (and almost certainly Europa League) is if we lose both our last two games and Man U or Chelsea win all theirs (of course one of the games is Man U v Newcastle so it could go down to the last game if they manage a win...).
Sad thing is if we’d got ax point against Luton we’d be fighting for 4th
I know, we’re so close and we’ve thrown some silly points away.
Such a shame we had so many injuries. You know we would have caught bottleham 😂😂
It really is.
Hopefully Forest and Brighton at least put a fight up and Manure have Arsenal to play so some interesting games and who will keep their nerve?
I’m still hoping for 5th
Not impossible!
😂,it's possible,but improbable 👍
Only 4 points behind spurs ! And they're right in the middle of being spursy 😂
If Burnley can take a point from them then we have a chance
Chelsea's record away from home hasn't been great and they go to Brighton. Could see them dropping points.
Man Utd also have palace at home which is tough, arsenal at home, us at home and Brighton away. Theyre tough games.
Yeah if we can get the required points, Man Utd could be the ones in trouble. Shame they have the potential ace up their sleeve which is the FA Cup final.
@@iansmithfootball we just got to win our games. It's possible that we could get 5th if we win all our games and spurs get a shock draw or loss against one of the relegated teams
i wouldnt involve wilson against brighton, id leave him for the man united game were gonna need him
He’ll probably be on the bench for Brighton I think. Hopefully we beat Brighton on Saturday and then it’s all setup for the Man Utd game
I don't know why I was worried about losing to Burnley 😂.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing! 🤣
You must have missed the first 25 minutes 🤣
🤣
Just win every match we will be ok
Yeah hopefully we can do that
Tottenham: 60 (BUR, MCI, SHU)
Newcastle: 56 (BRI, MAN, BOU)
Chelsea: 54 (NFO, BRI, BOU)
Man U: 54 (ARS, NEW, BRI)
With Man U dropping points to Palace. Chelsea are our biggest rivals now for Europa. They have easier fixtures than us so we must aim to get at LEAST 7 points and pip them on Goal Difference.
Failing that, if Man U beat us we realistically need 4 points to get Conference League. As it is unlikely Man U will get points at Arsenal.
My prediction:
5th: Tottenham 66
6th: Chelsea 63
7th: Newcastle 62
8th: Man U 60
Hope Chelsea drop points but unlikely with the form they are in and the fixtures they have...
We have a chance to overtake Tottenham since they lost today
I think the fact they have Sheffield United and Burnley left to play probably means they will get the points needed for 5th.
They do still have to play Man City
@connorwells8971 Yeah but they only need 6 points. If they had other fixtures I think I'd fancy our chances, but think even they'll beat Sheffield and Burnley.
@@iansmithfootball hopefully shefield and burnley can be relegated with a bang
@@Mansukh09 lets hope so!
I’m confused 😂
Haha Newcastle need to keep winning.
Am I the only person that knows if we finish 6th and if Man U finish 7th and win the FA Cup, they go into the Europa League and we don’t
No - I actually made a video about that 2 weeks ago and mention it in this video that Man U could actually finish 8th and win the Cup and 7th would miss out altogether - ruclips.net/video/tyGQpjKlruU/видео.html
@@iansmithfootball sorry if this sounds stupid but am I right or wrong about this?
You're correct.
Man U won’t win FA cup
No chance man utd win the final they couldn't beat Burnley.
I honestly think its down to been without Pope! Well a lot if injuries to be fair, but without him we have lost out big time! Dont get me wrong Martin Dúbravka has done amazing but he is no substitute for pope!
Yeah pope is definitely a level (or 2) above Dubravka
