I'm guessing this was before Captain America had superhuman strength and was just a regular guy in a costume.

I love how Dick Purcell wears his Captain America under his street clothes at 12:45 .Must have been awfully hot.

Apparently he died immediaely after the series was finished.

PiggyWiggyO That is correct. Purcell died of a heart attack just after this film was released in 1944 aged 35. These tragic especially for the Republic Producers. It's a shame he died so young just after the biggest role in his career.

So Superman: The Movie wasn't the first to use the taking of his shirt shot

The Fleischer SUPERMAN cartoons, BATMAN '43, and even a few episodes of the George Reeves SUPERMAN TV show all did it well in advance of SUPERMAN '78.

Have you noticed how many of these old serials seem to be obsessed with secret futuristic vibrators?
They have been in a half dozen different shows. Every Video Ranger carried a Sonic Vibrator on their hip. Ready for action.

Captain America has only the gun the shield is not in Captain America 1944

Gail seems quite interested in the Dynamic Vibrator!

The ONLY thing I hate about serials is the guys hiding behind furniture/boulders/etc. and shooting blindly. Stupid old western (cowboy) movie acting......

Concealment is not always cover! Those couches wouldn’t stop bullets.
