Hans Christian Anderson really has such a different feeling to their stories compared to Brothers Grimm. There is an actual lesson that goes along with most of the stories, and it just kind of feels that much more special. Loved listening to your rendition of his works! Hope you decide to do another fairy tale reading soon! Bonus fun fact! Hans is a character in the Fate franchise, who is a small shota boy voiced by Takehito Koyasu, who is the voice actor of Dio Brando. So a small child with a VERY deep voice
There are lessons in the Brother’s Grimm collection stories, they’re just a little harder to discern because the stories are older and so they are further removed from modern culture, which makes the metaphors more difficult to understand.
It was nice and cozy to hear you read today, your narrative voice is clear and calming! I'm not sure if I've ever actually read the original Little Mermaid before, so I really enjoyed this, the descriptive imagery painted some wonderful images for me and the tragedy cut pretty deep (in a good way!). The 'turns you into air' instead of having a totally dark ending felt a bit random though, haha. I might check out some of Andersen's other stories now!
Fairy tale reading is sooo comfy, until you pay attention to what's actually hapening! So happy we got another one of these, the ridiculousness of old timey writing always gets me good. Thanks for the cozy stream today Fauna! GL on Mario party later
These fairytale reading streams are so comfy, always love the bgm too The Little Mermaid has to be one of my favourites so far, hope for some more sometime in the future Thanks for the stream Fauna
Return of the comfy fairytale reading streams! I'm glad you blessed us with this stream today! But man, I heard that the original Little Mermaid story was depressing but man, I didn't expect it to hit me like it did. I did kind of enjoy it better than the numerous Disney versions of it though. The Girl Who Trod on the Loaf was pretty good too. I should read more Hans Christian Anderson fairytales, he's a very good writer I really hope you do this again.
Really enjoyed the choice of fairytales this time. The descriptive imagery in The Little Mermaid was super relaxing to listen to and the asthmatic poodle made me laugh waaay harder than I thought I would this stream And of course your narration was amazing as always. Thanks for the stream, Fauna! These always put me at peace
i've been recovering from a bit of post-vacation illness and these comfy streams have been a blessing good luck in mario party don't get bullied too much
Thanks for reading us more fairytales! It's fun to hear all of these stories, most of which I've never read before. The old the writing style is so good
Thank you for the stream! I actually never read the original story to Little Mermaid so this was a nice turn of events. I always like how your voice shifts when you read things, so I'm happy that you did it again!
Thanks for reading us more fairy tales! The two stories that you've read are really good, your voice and the calming music is such a perfect comboThanks again for the members stream
Really love you reading these fairytale stories. They can be dark yet quite comfy to listen to maybe even fall asleep to Thanks for the cozy stream today! Ill cheer u on the mario party collab
Fairytales always seem to have a dreamlike quality to me. One moment you are stepping on a loaf of bread, the next moment you're a seagull flying towards the sun. Feels nonsensical sometimes. Thanks for the member stream, Fauna! Fairytale reading streams are very nice to relax to.
I always forget how dark most of the older fairytales are, especially when the popular modernized versions are so popular, but it's really interesting to see what the originals are like. And I agree, a faithful adaptation of the old Little Mermaid would've been a cool and sad movie; now I'm really wishing it was a thing! I do hope you give writing your own fairytale a try, I think a Fauna original would be great!
Enjoyed the comfy(& maybe slightly cursed) fairytales Lesson learned in this stream, dont waste bread or suffer and become a bird Man, little mermaid is sad Thanks for the stream! Fauna Sweep incoming for the Mario party collab!
Thank you for reading to us again! I had never heard the original Little Mermaid, so I’m glad you chose it! I didn’t expect it to be so heartbreaking, even if it didn’t technically end in tragedy
Thank you Fauna. This stream happened when I was just just waking up but needed a few more hours of sleep. In my sleepy daze I caught myself smiling while you struggled to read the story without laughing. Eventually I fell asleep again listening to your reading. I will often listen to audiobooks to fall asleep, so this was very welcome. Thanks again!
The asthmatic poodle line made me just do a nose exhale but how hard it hit you made me burst out laughing too. I've never actually read the original little mermaid story just knew of it's tragic ending, I agree I really want to see a movie based on it. That girl who stepped on the bread one though....pure suffering I'm fine with whatever the members streams are honestly, but the vibes during these readings are very comfy and in some ways more relaxing for me than ASMR.
the music, your voice and the stories, what a powerful combo I feel The Little Mermaid Story is sad but doesn't feel that sad, i don't know how to explain it Thanks for the stories Fauna
This stream is going straight into the bedtime playlist. Man Anderson's stories are a real tragedy, I've never read the originals, but they're all so very, very dark. Cheers kirin, your voice is so soothing. I was just listening to this with my eyes closed while imagining the story, very cozy (I'm on team Fauna sweep for Mario party, I'll channel my luck to you)
Ah, classic Andersen, sad stories with suffering and tragedies for little kids, really liked his stories and it was really cozy, even considering the sad stories Thanks for the stream and see you later for the collab, good luck!
Fauna reading fairy tales feels too comfy and make me sleepy especially after work. The long giggle section triggers by the p word make me laugh so much. Thank you for the reading.
Konfauna! Thank you for the reading stream! It’s quite fun to read the little mermaid even if the story did seem a bit more grim than the movie even so, it was still cozy and it was enjoyable See you next stream
What I learned from these fairy tales: uhh... don't be mean, and don't sell your soul to an evil witch. Yeah, that sounds about right... Thanks for this super comfy stream, Fauna- every membership stream is really fun, and i'm looking forward to the next one!
Love another Fauna reading stream, I could listen to her read just about anything, its always so comy I felt myself having to fight sleep multiple times to be able to watch Thanks for the stream
I've never heard the original Little Mermaid until today, and it did not disappoint It was such a sad story and yet it felt so soothing. I already can't wait for more Fairy Tale readings
I was feeling rather ill yesterday, so as I was resting in my bed much earlier than usual, I put this on, and it was exceptionally soothing in spite of some of the darker tales. It was great to hear you read some fairy tales that people might not hear as often.
Your warm voice complemented the tone of the stories very well, and the whole stream almost felt like an ASMR reading. I was trying to study but I was almost falling asleep on my chair after hearing the little mermaid story (I didn't know the ending could be so bittersweet) . Hope we have more of the fairytale readings , I really enjoy it
Thanks for the stream as always, I know these fairytail reading streams aren't technically ASMR, but they might as well be with how relaxing they are. Very, very cozy, and looking forward to the collab later. This time will be a Fauna sweep for sure!
Today we learned the perils of setting foot on anything we're not supposed to, be it bread or dry land. Watch your step saplings lest you be cast into hell or lose everything you love and value! Thanks as always for the storytime Fauna, it's a great excuse to take a break during the work day to relax and unwind.
Thank you for the stream! I'd never read the original but I'd been meaning to, and it was truly wonderful with your soft voice. Hans has some really brilliant writing. I'll see you later Fauna!
Thank you for the maximum comfy stream! your narration is always so relaxing to listen to, almost fell asleep at my desk, especially with the bgm and ambiance. Can't wait for the collab later, you got this!
"Asthmatic poodle" might be one of the most creative descriptors I've ever heard Thank you very much for the stream, Fauna! I absolutely love these reading streams, whether it be fairytales, creepypasta, or whatever really. Listening to your read is just peak comfy!
Thanks for the stream, Fauna! Your voice is so nice and easy to listen to with these stories. The first one was pretty wild, but I liked The Little Mermaid. I agree that it felt much more modern than the Brothers Grimm stories. Another drawing stream sounds great! Have a good one
This was a very nice fairy tale reading stream again. You have a great narration voice and the music makes even the sad stories cozy. The Little Mermaid had very nice descriptive language.
I actually really enjoyed the story of The Little Mermaid. So much so that I looked into the differences between this version and the Disney version since I can't remember the last time I watched the Disney version. I learned that while there are a handful of differences, it mainly follows the same plot beats. The biggest differences being the motives of the sea witch (in Disney's version she is purely a villain where as here she is merely a character to progress the story) as well as the severity of the contract the little mermaid agrees to as well as the happy ending in the Disney adaptation vs the bittersweet ending of this one. However, the most interesting piece of knowledge I heard actually pertains to the original story. Apparently the ending of this story has been debated heavily and there are many variations of how it actually ends. My preferred ending is the one you read here, but others have cut out the entire part with the children of the air and simply end the story in tragedy with the little mermaid jumping into the sea and turning into sea foam. The main debate about the ending is how it was seen as an obvious way to scare children into behaving, and some folks didn't particularly care for that concept.
I was aware the original The Little Mermaid story was dark but I didn't realise it was so sorrorful. Thank you for sharing, listening to you read is always very comfy
Thanks for the stream Fauna! You have the perfect narrator voice for fairy tales, very soothing and comfy I love how fairy tales are kind of like the precursor to more modern horror stories, might be why I like them so much. Hopefully you didn't stress your voice to much, rest up and we will see you in a bit for Mario Party (Good Luck!)
Thanks so much for the comfy reading stream! I always love listening to audio books and with your voice it made it ten times better. I really enjoyed the little mermaid story, it had very nice imagery and was very easy to picture myself there. I hope you enjoy your food and good luck at Mario Party!
Thank you for a comfy fairytale reading! I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'd heard the original mermaid story was sad, so it was interesting to be able to hear it for myself.
I need to watch the VOD because YT didn't give me a notification until halfway through, but I love your fairytale reading streams. Your reading voice is really lovely and it's such a comfy experience! I like this version of the story more than the version Disney did, it has better lore and things seem to be more meaningful. It ended up being a fairly happy end for everyone except for her sisters who lost their hair for no reason.
Enjoyed the fairy tale readings, I didn't expect to find a poodle reference in an 1800s fairy tale though Inga and mermaid had a rough one today, hope they're finally at peace (Didney version had some fun songs, worth checking out if you've never seen it)
I've always heard about how dark the og fairy tales were compared to their adaptations but never much cared to check if it was true. After listening to your reading I now understand what they were talking about. As much as it was a sad story, I really enjoyed it and it had me gripped all the way. I wonder how a story written by Fauna following this type of storytelling would be like, I hope we can maybe see it one day. Thanks for the fun stream
Thanks for the reading stream, Fauna! It's always amazing how both Andersen and Grimm's fairy tale stories have important life lessons, especially for Little Mermaid to always understand what you're getting yourself into. Good luck in the Mario Party collab!
There's something enticing aboit this contrast between comfiness of Fauna's voice and content of fairy tales I would gladly listen to more of them if you are planning another stream like this. Maybe something from Joseph Jacobs like Three Little Pigs? Anyway, thank you for this ASMRish read
Always very comfy listening to you read for us saplings But I thought Brothers Grimm was waaay older. Surprised it was around the same time as HC Andersen.
I unfortunately wasn't able to tune in quite on time and popped in quite late, but there's always the VOD and what I was able to catch was very relaxing after a long day. Thank you for these kinds of streams Fauna and who doesn't love listening to fairy tales, albeit some being rather dark
I think this is the first time I closed the live chat to focus on listening the story only, since I'm not native english speaker is still kinda hard to heard something that don't use the usual "modern english talking" it was a nice staying out of the usual. Ty for the stream Fauna
Compared to last time, the stories were a lot nicer today. Inge did suffer for a long time, but she was kind of a b-word, and in the end the kindness of that little girl managed to save her. And I knew the Little Mermaid turned to foam in the end, but I didn't know about the constant pain (which was described beautifully), and I also didn't know she turned into a daughter of the air and could obtain a soul in 300 years either. Sad, but hopeful. Well, as long as she finds more good children than evil, and I'm not sure she can given how these stories tend to go.
I love these fairytale readings so I saved this one to listen to at work. I had no idea the Little Mermaid so sweet and so sad! The "Ballad of Tam Lin" might be a good one for the next reading. It's an old, unattributed Scottish fairy tale. I'd recommend a modern translation the older Scottish can be difficult to understand.
After a completely chaotic day, listening to this in my car on my way home was definitely one of the strangest drives I have been on. Looking forward to the potential upcoming drawing stream - they are always excellent.
Thanks for the member's steam Fauna! I'd never heard the original Little Mermaid before and it really was so good! Looking forward to Mario Party later today
Thanks for the stream Fauna! I knew a bit about The Little Mermaid, the part where her tongue gets cut off, but I didn't know the ending was like that at all. It was sad but not as sad as I thought it was going to be. Thanks for reading it to us 💚💚💚
Asthmatic poodle had me dying I had never actually read the original Little Mermaid before, definitely a bit darker than the movie Though that seems to be the norm for many fairy tales, I liked it a lot! Thank you for the stream Fauna, these are another kind of cozy stream to listen to when going to sleep
Thank you for the cozy stream Fauna!!! Never heard of these two stories before. Though they were sad, I really enjoyed them, I especially liked _The Girl Who Trod on the Loaf,_ that one caught my attention quite a bit, and I might read it again later. Anyways, thank you for the stream!!!
When I suggested Andersen I was expecting the The Little Mermaid's ending, not that he'd have such a way with words like Asthmatic Poodle It feels like he is a lot more subtle with his morals too. The mermaid didn't really do anything to earn her suffering, and she didn't forget her family, but now she has to search for 300 good children to ascend to Heaven in a day See you later when you win at Mario Party
The Brothers Grimm collected old folk tales that had previously been passed down for generations through oral tradition, Hans Christian Anderson wrote his own stories. They were published around the same time but the Brothers’ collection are, for the most part, much older stories. This is why Anderson’s stories generally have happier endings, even the darker ones. The older folk tales don’t sugar coat things the way he does.
Thank you for the member's Fairytale reading Fauna and for the blessed kirin giggles lol I enjoy this version of The Little Mermaid much more than well the more...friendly one because it just seems way more impactful.
You know, I knew the Little Mermaid was a dark Fairy Tale, like that whole turning into Sea Foam bit is a bit cruel. It's funny how different it is from the version everybody knows nowadays, but the idea behind it does carry some weight to it, even today. But I will say though that the Mouse's movie adaptation did keep the idea that she's just foolish kid who doesn't really know what she signed up for...you know, despite literally being told what would happen, just saying.
Thanks for the comfy fairy tale reading It was very relaxing with the soft voice, and the ambience was very immersive Can't wait for the next one!

Hans in Fate my beloved, love that little guy.
Hans in FGO is goated
Hans carried me until I got Skadi. I'll never forget the buffs he gave me 50% of the time and won me the fight 20% of the time.

Thanks for the member stream, Fauna! Fairytale reading streams are very nice to relax to.
Turning into a bird is a metaphor for being set free. It happens a fair bit in Greek mythology.
I always forget how dark most of the older fairytales are, especially when the popular modernized versions are so popular, but it's really interesting to see what the originals are like. Listening to Fauna read stories is probably the comfiest thing in the world
Really enjoy your story time streams, they're very comfy hope to see more in the future
The asthmatic poodle line made me just do a nose exhale but how hard it hit you made me burst out laughing too. Thank you very much for the stream, Fauna!

My first members stream was amazing!! Super cozy Friday let's GOOOOO
When I suggested Andersen I was expecting the The Little Mermaid's ending, not that he'd have such a way with words like Asthmatic Poodle
It feels like he is a lot more subtle with his morals too.
The older folk tales don’t sugar coat things the way he does.
worth the membership
just joined :DD
Thanks for the reading very relaxing!!! Almost slept at 6 Pm!!
Thank you for the stream. It was very comfy.
Inga, The girl who stood upon loaf: *gets sucked into mud hell, turned to stone, and covered in horrifying creatures*
Fauna: "Hilarious"
Thank you for the member's Fairytale reading Fauna and for the blessed kirin giggles lol
I enjoy this version of The Little Mermaid much more than well the more...friendly one because it just seems way more impactful.
Mama nature with another peak video
You know, I knew the Little Mermaid was a dark Fairy Tale, like that whole turning into Sea Foam bit is a bit cruel. It's funny how different it is from the version everybody knows nowadays, but the idea behind it does carry some weight to it, even today.
But I will say though that the Mouse's movie adaptation did keep the idea that she's just foolish kid who doesn't really know what she signed up for...you know, despite literally being told what would happen, just saying.
Got gifted a membership on the Faunwell stream. This is my first stop. Love you forever, dear kirin.
