    They should also add "ERL / KLIA Transit" next to TPS direction sign, easier to understand at first glance.

    I am from Kajang , if i take grab from home straight to KLIA2 it would cost me RM70+ . but with this.. I can get to KLIA2 in only RM9.40 😮 (cuz I already subscribe to MY50 so MRT fee is considered free la to me) NICEEEEEE 😆 can travel a lot without paying so much money✅

    • @WanderEats
      @WanderEats  Год назад

      Oh wow... didn't consider the MY50 program. Yes that is indeed a real bargain.

    That's very interesting. Though it took me a while to figure out exactly what this all meant and what you were doing. At first, I thought you were saying that you could take the MRT all the way to KLIA2 now. And that amazed me. I hadn't heard of any MRT construction at the airport.
    But then I realized that you are talking about taking the KLIA Ekspres high speed train. But you are linking up with the Ekspres train at their Putrajaya station, which is a relatively short distance from KLIA2.
    So, instead of taking the Ekspres train all the way from KL Sentral, you are taking it from Putrajaya. And THAT's where the savings comes in.
    Essentially, now you can take the MRT from downtown KL all the way to Putrajaya. And THEN you can hop on the Ekspres train for the final bit to KLIA2. I had to refer to the online MRT maps to figure that out, because I'm not familiar with the new Putrajaya line at all. I had no idea where this new line went.
    I guess you were thinking of this as an alternative to Grab and other relatively expensive options like that. But it might be an interesting "travel hack" for backpackers as well. And then this would be an alternative to taking the airport bus from KL Sentral. Both would cost about the same. The airport bus costs 15 ringgit now. And this MRT/Ekspres combo would also cost 15 ringgit (5 ringgit for the MRT trip and then 9.4 ringgit for the Ekspres train).
    The airport bus would be faster and you wouldn't have to transfer so many times or wait for trains to arrive. But at least you don't have to deal with the physical discomforts of boarding the bus or the brusqueness of the guys running those airport buses. They can be a bit short and unfriendly in their manners.
    Of course, the first step would have to be to get on the Putrajaya MRT line to begin with to travel by MRT to Putrajaya Sentral. Your trip in this video started right at Putrajaya Sentral. But you have to get there first.
    In my case, I would have to take the MRT from someplace like Pasar Seni to Tun Razak Exchange station and transfer to the Putrajaya Line. That's 3 stops. And then something like 15 stops on the Putrajaya Line to get to Putrajaya Sentral. You'd have to do all that before you can even get on the Ekspres train to KLIA.
    Plus, you can also do this in reverse, right? I assume you can take the KLIA Ekspres train from KLIA2 to Putrajaya. And then you can transfer to the Putrajaya MRT line and go the rest of the way into Kuala Lumpur. And then you're already in the MRT system and can go anywhere you like.
    In the video, you said that your trip took one hour and forty-five minutes. But it couldn't have taken that long to get from Putrajaya Sentral to KLIA2. That must also must include your trip on the MRT from Kuala Lumpur to Putrajaya, right? So that would be total time from somewhere like Titiwangsa to KLIA2?
    It's interesting that it's so much cheaper than taking the KLIA Ekspress all the way from KL Sentral. The full fare on the KLIA Ekspres train is 55 ringgit. But this "travel hack" costs 15 ringgit, saving you 40 ringgit.
    It's definitely appealing to me because I will almost always take a train instead of a bus if I have a choice. 🙂

    • @WanderEats
      @WanderEats  Год назад +2

      Yes buddy, you are spot on in your deep analysis. RM15 was for my journey from Titiwangsa to Putrajaya Sentral to KLIA 2 but if you were to take from Pasar Seni and change at TRX, I believe it would be slightly cheaper than my trip. I did not view from that angle but you are right, this could totally be a viable alternative compared to taking the bus since you probably have to wait for the bus to depart at their schedule as well.

      Yes you could purchase via their app in advance which will most of the time provide promotional rates since they are encouraging usage of their mobile app. Or in my case, I walked up to the station and use the mobile app as well which works too. Only if you are traveling from KL Sentral all the way to KLIA/KLIA2, then perhaps you may want to buy the ticket in advance from their app just in case some time slots are full but that rarely happens to me thus far.

As for the KLIA Express, yes it is very fast with less than 15mins but it also depends if you get the train the moment you arrive at the platform. There was once when I arrive, the Express train just left so I needed to wait for the next train which is 30mins later.
