You may have addressed this in your series (and I somehow missed it) but how would you handle something like scene changes on a digital console? We frequently use scenes to slightly brighten another singers EQ. We have different members of our team lead their own song in the set. Is there any way of doing broad pre-saved compression and/or EQ or FX changes in a DAW? Or even with Companion?

Yes, you can use the sws extensions for Reaper, it has an implementation of snapshots. I should probably make a video about this!
