He was very likely going to be a Lord Militant by the end. But Cain... Cain as a character grew through his time in the Guard. From the slack off coward he was when he first got himself deployed with the 12th Valhallan Artillery, to him “literally” leading a full on army in the southern continent of Perila - going against all his instinct and while he completely still sees himself as only having done it to get to safely and play it up for the troops in his memoirs... his actions (to which Amberley also agrees) tell a complete different story. Hell he would also go onto win glory beside the Adeptus Astartes playing a proper game of space hulk, then he would again prove his worth uniting and pretty much leading the 597th (while he was only the Regimental Commissar, he united said regiment at its birth and as all characters in said regiment state, he pretty much is the 3rd CO of the regiment alongside Kasteen and Broklaw) and even at the end of his career with them going into the service of the Scholars, he would still hold the word of Perila form a invasion. And, even tho we do have confirmation he died sometime during early M42 to natural means, even the administratum dares not list him as so, due to his ever common nack of being declared KIA in his duties, only to turn up later quite alive and with his aid at his side (to those reading who are not aware, yes Cain by administratum ruling may never be listed as KIA *EVER* because they cannot be bothered having to keep changing his status from KIA to Active).
Several editions back they actually made models and rules for the Tanith. I was so tempted to get them, but was finishing up my Speed Freaks at the time.

If we would see, what roughly 80% of the Guard fights all the time, like rebels and small chaos cults, things would look vastly different. Against those enemies, their Lasguns are pretty much overkill, and their armor makes them close to invincible.

This seems like the final battle in Ghostmaker since they're trying to take a fort in a jungle. The Ghosts all had screwy things going on with their minds. Rawne, Feygor, Caffran, Larkin, & Milo all thought they were back on Tanith when it fell and Gaunt kept remembering things on Tanith despite not actually being Tanith himself.

And even back when you made this comment, there were other mods that had fleshed out animations for reloading revolvers and the like. It all depends on how much effort was put into the prettifying aspects like reload animations rather than the functional stuff like making it shoot, how the projectile works etc. And some of the less important but really nice things like having good models and textures for weapons, armor, and vehicles.
I am suprised that with all that incomp... I mean... Very "speshyl" and "highly trained" men around Rimmy still hasn't landed a role in Emperor TTS. He would fit in sooooo good into its lore as some kind of commisar.

With 40k being "British Empire Meets Lord Of The Rings In Space", Gaunts Ghosts has always struck me as being a kind of advancement of historical fiction like Sharpe. So I must say Rimmy, I am especially enjoying this video, as I get to see what it would be like if Richard Sharpe had to see modern-day soldiers.
