Those stainless steel coaches at about 15:30 were the first stainless steel coaches in the country, built by Budd. I commuted on these to/from Hackensack on the Pascack Valley line. I rode on them again as a volunteer for the Indiana Transportation Museum from 1984-2006.
These track guys today would be looking over their shoulder for a so called boss who would think nothing of firing someone for not having a reflective vest on or something stupid like that. Transportation department is even worse
The technology used today by class 1 roads on laying rail wasn't around durin the 50's 60's into the 70's. All manual labor required to maintain the roadbed and rail.

Good review of those pre-NJT days!
Ahh the idle sounds of those Alco's the Erie Lackawanna had in their roster. Stick rail clatter at speed!

Man this is some pretty old footage. I saw my 1962 Pontiac Catalina 2 dr. hardtop in one of these clips. Man I loved that car.
New Jersey Transit GE U36CH's were used at the time as road power.
Memories!

I appreciate your creative musical choices, especially the Charles Ives. Was that Decoration Day?
And Kalinnikov Symphony #1!
Hoboken Terminal hasn't changed, same for the train yard. I commuted on the Main/Bergen line that was part of the EL original line.
Laying rails now done by machine.
