  • Wow! John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park is a beautiful reef 5 miles off the coast of KeyLargo, Florida. We thoroughly enjoyed our snorkeling tour with @Sundiver Snorkel Tours. It was fantastic. Best snorkeling trip ever! This is within a Sanctuary Preservation Area (SPA). This tour is a fun, safe, family-friendly snorkeling tour that is well worth your time and money. Captain Mike was great and the 30 minute boat ride to the reef was smooth and comfortable. PSA - if you get seasick like me, here is my secret remedy. 1. Take a tablet of dramamine the night before. 2. Take a second tablet of dramamine the morning of. 3. Drink lots of Gatorade to keep yourself hydrated and full of electrolytes. I had no sea sickness at all.
    We went in late October and the weather was fantastic. 88 degrees with 80% humidity with a water temp of 81 degrees.
    Such a great experience. Highly Recommend John Pennekamp Coral Reef. The most healthy reef I have encountered to date.

    This breaks my heart. 20 years ago this was so vibrant. I want to cry! I saw many parrotfish going ham and black queen angels. It was so amazing you couldn’t even count the cool things you saw! It’s so bleached, I feel bad. Really bad.

    Went snorkeling on Sunday at Grecian Rocks with Sundance Sports too! Went on the Dolphin. It was my first time, and I loved it!

    What camera did you use? Do you need to dive down or can you see from the surface? I haven’t learned that yet! 😮

    • @thelava_co
      @thelava_co  Год назад +1

      GoPro Hero 7 black. I dove down a little yes but only about 5 feet. There are also some pretty shallow reefs that don’t require diving deep.

      That hog fish was tempting. The reserve won’t let us spear there. Need to go south.

      They provide snorkel mask fins and life vest. If you can’t swim you should be able to still float and enjoy the water and fish. Great experience.
