You can make a starter for cuttings from willow shoots, harvested in early Spring

I have a small willow structure which is an arch, they are so versatile.
Interesting video. Wish you well on this project. I planted willow many years ago from cuttings obtained from our local river bank. Unfortunately (at that time) I was inexperienced in tree identification. The willows turned out to be crack willows which get top heavy and fall down. No problem in the field but near a fence line or road can cause problems. Also willows are almost impossible to kill, cut them down and they come back twice as strong. I now have a willow problem.
I plant them by the thousand!
I have read that you should cut the willows down to the ground in august. Then they do not push to much 'food' back to the roots in autumn. Depending on the size of the willows, you may have to do it a couple of times. Good luck!
