      Same here. 12 years of guitar playing and just met this amazing guy just now!
      O can't understand how he isnt more famous..

    • @ymelfilm
      @ymelfilm 6 лет назад

      the problem is that his style is a dead end strt. U see, he cant do remote sequences bc physically it s not possible and losing dynamics. I ve known this guy from records for 30 years now but he couldnt really develop this further. Look at a Plini or Alexis Hutchings - traditional playing but more interesting and more various melodic worlds

    • @ricaard
      @ricaard 5 лет назад

      Hutchings is good, but not in Stanley's league. His art is developed just fine, as his millions of fans (cult and otherwise), jazz festival favorite status, and Grammy nominations will attest to. His command of the technique is the next evolutionary step in guitar playing, and progress is always slow, hard and protested. So, he continues to do his thing, and during these thirty years he has been *very respected* in the jazz world, his chosen field.

      true that. Stanley finds so many off hand ways to scare me with his genius. i saw him three nights ago in Port Chester with Phil Lesh. Good Lord!

    I love Marvin as you might notice. I love that Stanley is a more "smooth" jazz in his up beat style and is killing it here. Gotta love Stanley and that bass player.

    While we are giving it up for the sidemen, let's give props to Tommy Campbell on drums, laying it down like the true master he is. Look him up he is playing in NYC all the time!!!!
