    Great review,,, I have a pair in 183.1 size and agree they are great do it all skis. Sunday River in Maine is my home mountain and have skied them in all conditions. I'm 5' 10'' 155 lb senior skier with years of experience. The ski radius is 21 meters but you can easily carve or steer/smear them into shorter turns. They are fast, powerfull and lots of fun. I had them mounted with a pair of Look Pivot 15's.

    I'm from Russia, I'm riding in Sochi on Krasnaya Polyana. I looked at your review of these skis, read the reviews. You're a handsome guy, you answer all the guys' questions! I bought these skis as basic. Before that, I rode armada buba, it's very hard to ride them on the highway. I chose Justice as the main ski for every day!

    I've skied a pair of Camox 174's for the last three seasons and really enjoyed them. Similarities, differences? Been really intrigued by the Justis ever since they got announced.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  3 года назад +8

      Some similarities in their rocker profile and how easy it is to release the tail edge, but the big difference is the stability at speed, vibration damping, and edge grip. The Justis is definitely a more powerful ski than the Camox. It retains some of its playfulness, but I'd say not all of it just because the Justis is a little heavier. For skiing fast and aggressively, the Justis responds better. Both really fun... Actually, they might be my personal two favorite skis from Black Crows right now.

    I need some help distinguishing two skis you have reviewed. I'm 6'3" and 210 lbs. Ski about 35 days a year in Taos and Crested Butte primarily. Looking for a daily driver between big storms. I've watched your videos on these BC Justis and the Rossignol Holyshred. I'm looking to replace my Black Crows Daemons, blew an edge and they are dead. Before the Daemons I was on the Soul 7s. I loved the Daemons when i needed to carve an edge on ice or go fast vs the Soul 7s. I loved the Soul 7s in bumps and soft snow but deflect and felt noodly after conditions firmed/tracked up. The Daemons were beefier in chop and tracked out snow and I liked that as well. I loved the pop and playfulness of the Souls vs the Daemon. Between the Justis and the Holyshred, which skis bumps and trees better? Which will take me back to the lift on sketchy icy runs? Which pivots, slashes and maneuvers faster? If you had to pick one which would you choose? Or would you recommend something else? Thanks!

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  3 года назад +3

      Oh boy! Good question... 2 good skis. I think you'd prefer the Justis based on your feedback. In a lot of ways, the Justis kind of feels like a combination of the Daemon and the Soul 7. That's over-simplifying things a little bit, but I do think there's some truth to it. The construction feels similar to the Daemon. They're strong, they're stable, and they have good vibration damping. The shape has more pronounced rocker, more like the Soul 7. Even though the Daemon was flat/reverse camber, it didn't have the quickness or maneuverability provided by a pronounced rocker profile like this with a lot of splay. So, just based on the 2 skis you're coming off of, I feel pretty confident you'll like the Justis.
      In comparison, the rocker on the Holyshred doesn't has as much splay. Rossignol does a good job keeping it damp thanks to rubber and some other trickery, but I think the Justis feels more powerful and will track better through choppy conditions. A big benefit of the Holyshred is the twin tip shape, so if you're looking for a ski that can blend in some freestyle influence, switch skiing, etc, I'd rather have the Holyshred I think, but if you take out freestyle and switch skiing, the Justis is probably going to do a getter job checking all your boxes. I can't really pick a winner for bumps and trees, they both work well, but the Justis pivots faster thanks to the rocker profile and I think it's fair to say the metal underfoot gives it a little more grip on sketchy terrain. Hope that helps!

    Thank you very much for this review. I've been skiing all my life on skis with lots of metal, mostly kastle mx 78, 88 and blizzard bonafides here in the east. I am looking for something slightly lighter and slightly more forgiving than the bonafides. Would you say these fit the bill? How would they feel coming off skiing the bonafides the last 2 years?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  3 года назад +3

      Yes! That's a pretty perfect way to think about the Justis. For someone coming off a ski like the Bonafide, you'll appreciate that they still have a strong feel underfoot from the metal. Good vibration damping, good stability at speed, etc. The tips and tails, however, provide way more forgiveness than something like the Bonafide. Easier to maneuver in tight terrain, which can be beneficial here in the east. Not quite as much raw power or edge grip as the Bones, but it's certainly no slouch on firmer snow.

    Thanks for this - what would be your pick for a one quiver between the Justis, revolt 104 or candid 2.0; mix of piste, chopped up off piste and occasional powder?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  3 года назад +1

      Kind of depends on skiing style and what you value most. If you're an aggressive skier and value stability, power, vibration damping, and that kind of stuff, I think the Justis is the best one-ski-quiver. The Revolt sacrifices a little bit of stability and power in favor of a more surfy, smear feel and a little more freestyle capabilities. The Candide is further along that spectrum, further towards the playful, jibby side of things. So, in theory, they could all work as a one-ski-quiver, just a matter of who's choosing.

    Thanks for the great review. How do the Justin’s and Enforcer 100 compare? I am considering both.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад +1

      The Justis feels a little looser, especially in soft snow. Longer rocker and more splay too, especially in the tail, so it has easier edge release. Similar overall stability at speed and vibration damping, although I think it's fair to say the Enforcer feels more responsive because of that same difference in tail rocker.

    Hey Skiessentials! How do these compare to the Atris in regards to all mountain usability? How much better is the Atris in deep snow, and how much better is the Justis on groomers etc.? :)

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  3 года назад +3

      The Justis is definitely more of an all-mountain ski than the Atris. Noticeably quicker edge to edge, more stability at speed, more edge grip, etc. It's noticeably better on groomers, and the Atris is noticeably better in deep snow. I don't really consider the Atris an all-mountain ski, with a few exceptions for people who are lucky to live places that get a lot of snowfall.

    How are these in the trees, in powder, and for holding a high edge angle while carving on groomers? I've been eyeing to get these as my 1-ski quiver for the Canadian west coast and was wondering if they can perform well on these different types of terrain.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  3 года назад +4

      Really good for all of those things, which is basically what makes it such a good ski. Maneuverable in the trees, good float in powder due to the rocker profile and overall shape, but then the metal underfoot gives it a strong feel when carving on firm snow. Great one-ski-quiver!

    I keep hearing the Camox are more playful but is that based on the pop for jumping or the center mounting for smearing? Would the Justis be better at smearing and would the Camox be close off piste? Torn between the two.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад

      I'd say playfulness on the Camox compared to the Justis is more coming from the weight and the flex pattern. It feels lighter and its flex feels more energetic. Softer, but with more rebound, which gives it that pop and energy. Interestingly, yes, I do think the Justis smears better, but specifically in deep snow. The more pronounced tail rocker helps give it a drifty/surfy feel in deep snow. The Camox doesn't have quite the same edge release out of the tail, but it's not too far off either.

  • @gregmccandlessmusic
    @gregmccandlessmusic 2 года назад +1

    Can you ski these switch easily? Seems like the rocker profile would say yes, but the shape and stiff tail flex (which Blister mentioned on a different video) would say no. Looking for a twin tip ish ski that can be primarily park but also hit occasional groomers and I'm super heavy and aggressive. My other ski is a bonafide and I love it for trenching groomers but it can't get in the air worth a dime.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  2 года назад

      Hey Greg! I think that's dependent on ability level. I wouldn't have any issues skiing them switch. Have done it, will do it again. It's not a true twin tip, but plenty of rise back there to feel confident skiing backwards. Not the best in the park just because of its weight, but capable, and very supportive of a heavier skier. You could consider the Camox too. That ski will be easier in the park for sure, although not as strong.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  3 года назад

      The Justis is a stronger ski than the Wailer 100. Stiffer, heavier, more powerful, more stable at speed. Still has a lot of rocker, however, so it can still be fun, maneuverable, and playful, just requires a little more work than the Wailer. Sounds like it would be perfect for what you're looking for!

    How would you compair the Justice to the Ranger 99 ti in terms of performance? Looking for a hard charger one ski quiver out west and for softer east coast days, I own a 94 fr and find the tail does not want to hold on firm days all though the are a go to ski for most other conditions. Thanks!

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  3 года назад

      The biggest difference is probably the amount of tail rocker. The Ranger has a much flatter tail than the Justis, which actually has a lot of tail rocker for a ski in this category. I do think the Ranger 99 would be a better complement to your 94 FR, unless you specifically like the rocker profile of the Justis.

    Atomic Bent Chetler 100 or BC Justis for en piste mostly and Advanced Senior skier?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  3 года назад

      Justis is going to outperform the Bent Chetler on piste, in my opinion. The metal underfoot gives it more power and edge grip than the Bent Chetler. Bent Chetler has more camber, so it holds its own, but I'd pick the Justis for that application.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  3 года назад

      Justis is heavier and there's not as much of a twin tip, so I'd say not really a great choice compared to the Atris for the backcountry freestyle application. Most Black Crows athletes I know use the Atris or Anima as their backcountry jump/freestyle ski.

      Understanding you just fine! Yes, at 250, my guess is that the Atomic is on the flexible side while the Justis is a great choice. They're strong skis, but have more generous rocker profile, so they don't feel too demanding, but still quite supportive. I'd lean to the Justis. Have fun!

      Much stiffer underfoot, although interestingly, they also have more pronounced rocker. So, kind of taking the shape and performance of the Rustler, but enhancing it... more or less. I think it's probably a little much for most intermediate skiers, but an athletic intermediate that's still progressing could potentially grow into it... • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  3 года назад +2

      It'll probably sound like a cop out, but I like them both for different reasons. The Enforcer is just unbelievably smooth and well-rounded, but the Justis takes it a little further in terms of the smeary, surfy soft snow performance without giving up as much as you'd expect on firm snow. I can't really pick a favorite between the two, which is saying a lot because I'm a big fan of Enforcers.
      I kind of think the Enforcer 104 is a better direct comparison... The Justis kind of feels like if they took the 104 shape and gave it a 100 mm waist width.

      Far more rocker than the Mantra, so a different feel because of that. Easier edge release, more of a surfy, smeary feel in soft snow.
