First time I've seen this reviewer.. this is a quality review..covers everything one likes to see, nice balance of facts and personal opinion; the opinions given are relatable to one's own. I look forward to seeing more from this fine reviewer!
Thanks for the review . I really like your channel and its nice to see a younger chap doing reviews on fountain pens without sounding condescending (i hope) which was not my intention.
After seeing your excellent review, I ordered this pen. It has become my EDC! I absolutely love it!!! Thankyou so much for your interesting videos! 👍👍👍
Just a note to say that another way to fill the pen with ink is to use a syringe instead of an eyedropper. Both methods are available to you. From an early age I have used a syringe and for me it's the way to go. Thanks JPL for your reviews! Maybe some day I'll be getting a JPL Co. pen.
Couldn't agree more. This pen was a wonder. the nib was even a little flexible and so lovely and responsive. I also love the shape. I only wish it had a roll-stop. Similarly the wancai mini, if you don't have one yet, is a ludicrously cool pocket pen made from the same super high quality acrylic (comes in 4 colors and ebonite) uses the same extremely nice nib. That pen can actually take a kaweco clip too!
Im actually going to get this pen its actually worth my money Its the only pen that you have reviewed that im getting GOOD JOB ON THE VIDS KEEP IT UP MY FELLOW AUSSIE MATE
Awesome review. Really loved how in-depth you went on the details. I read on several reddit posts that swapping with nib with Bock #5 helps alot with burping and ofcourse improve the writing.
Your usual meticulous review. Since I like this pen very much, I'm glad that you do too. Amazing quality for the price. I bought mine about a year after you published your review, and it appears to me that some of the things you criticize have been repaired; for example, I see no "drill bit marks" whatsoever at the top of the cap. One thing that has particularly impressed me about this pen is that the nib doesn't dry out even after long periods being capped - the kind of bonus you get with the Platinum 3776. Mine has had no burping problems. Now I'm after one of these with the stub nib.
@@billinrio Hmm, interesting. I had assumed they don't exist until I saw this. I might see if I can just swap out nibs on this one. I have two on these Moonmans pens and a few other styles of Moonman pens.
I like my Moonman M2 a lot. Never thought I'd like an EF so much. I've also had very occasional burping problems (inked mine with Robert Oster Deep Sea). Thanks for the review!
Bought a moonman m2 cause of this review! Thanks JPL for introducing this item to us. I really like the aesthetics of the pen, the weightlessness, the clear, pristine look it has. And I take it the identifying color is gold and red because it's a Chinese pen. As for the writing, it does its job well for the price. It's not smooth and you can feel the weight of the scratch. The Lamy Safari and Pilot Prera (the only other two pens I own, I'm just a newbie to the hobby), are loads smoother and weightless in writing. But, they are considerably more expensive than the Moonman M2. I don't regret my purchase either way. I love the pen. As for the nib, I might have it ground. Cheers.
JPL i like the Moonman M2 and i would spend that bit extra for a pen that has better quality that some other Chinese pens out there i think it great looking pen. Thanks for another awesome video.
I found that around the nib section, I get drops of ink leakage when writing. Trying to pull the nib out to grease it, but can't pull it out! I'm having a hard time pulling the nib out even with a rubber grip. Maybe I'm just too weak?! :(
I quite like my Moonman M2 with a fine nib. I’ve heard of people’s O-rings failing before, but mine’s been perfectly fine. Just keep those threads nice and lubed. Also, my M2 has never burped, even when I tried to make it burp on purpose. Spot on review though, it’s good to see these pens get more attention.
The _Chinese_ Moonman FP... who knows, years down the proverbial road the rest of the FP world may 'steal' Chinese FP designs. I like my Moonman. _there may be a moon-woman soon._ mike
One minor problem with this review: I believe this pen is machined from a solid stick of acrylic, but not molded. That's the reason why there are scratches left by the drill bit, also why clip is not present: This design is perfectly suited for making with a lathe. But adding a clip or even a simple bump, you'll need a sophisticated CNC for that.
Also there's one item in Chinese national industrial standard for fountain pen specified that fountain pen of top grade should be able to write in reverse. Very odd.
Great review, very thorough. I hadn’t been tempted by this Pen since I have a few Lecai pens. But, you have changed my mind on this. I’m just a little concern about the ink burps. Have you thought of finding a #5 stub for yours?
I'm surprised you find eyedroppers difficult to clean. I find them the easiest, especially when the nib is removable. I find pens like my Montblanc piston filler to be the most difficult, taking scores and scores of fills of clean water to get all of the ink out and still the nib and feed might be holding pigment and you can't pull it out to clean separately.
A great review. I've seen only one of these in the flesh for about 2 minutes, so getting your thoughts is really useful. Any ideas on other nibs that might fit and be smoother or more flexible ??
Bearing in mind that you rarely use one pen exclusively for a month, ink is actually going to last a lot longer. I myself will use three of four different pens during a month.
Just out of curiosity, why would you try to use a cartridge/converter in a pen not designed for it? Kind of reminds me of those who try to get a nib not designed to flex, to flex??? I am a fountain pen enthusiast. so I am asking just to get some understanding.
I bought it 13 days ago. I'm not sure if they still have in stock with a stub nib in stock since when I bought it said there were only 6 left but you can also get the Moonman C1 which is practically the same thing except different shape and you can use Cartiges and Converters
The thing that really annoyed me about this pen is how the cap cross threads. For some reason, it happened to me over 90% of the time when i was using it.Same with the little pocket one.
Currently I am using the m2 more often to clear out the ink in the barrel, but in the coming months ill probably use the 698 more often because it is less tedious to clean and refill, and I don't mind if I scratch it too much. The 698 nib is a little nicer too.
It's frustrating to see so many great experiences with this pen whereas the one i got is so scratchy and dry it will most likely rip pieces of paper out than lay down the ink.
So was mine, it took a lot of effort to get it out, almost had to resort to plyers, however the pen in chrisrap52 easily disassembles, go figure. Looks like bad tolorances
@@_voyager02 The pliers trick hasn't worked for me yet, but I'm still trying. I did use a piece of Scotch tape to remove the nib, but that's as far as I've gotten.

The medium and 1.1 stub nibs for the M2 are both buttery smooth. I put the stub into a Jinhao 250 and it works well.
Hey troy, your video on the M2 actually was the reason I regret not looking harder to find a stub nib :)
I feel honored, you used my comment.

This pen is actually a copy of the Franklin Christoph Pocket 66.
See Mick L’s review on the Pocket 66. He places it side to side with a Moonman M2.

Hi, great review! Unfortunately link no longer works. Do you know a reliable seller that sell this pen? Thanks
I bought it from Aliexpress, ships worldwide.
Some pics of the moonman m2 I've seen on net have Germany ingraved on nib I'm wondering do moonman sometimes use German nibs ?
If you are referring to "iridium germany" or something like that, from what I understand that doesn't mean that they are german nibs

Where can I get a #5 extra fine steel nib so I can swap out the one it came with?
