As advances ultra-precision technologies such as optical and electron microscopy, lithography, spectrometry, and many more applications pursue ever-finer resolution, mechanical vibration becomes an increasingly important limiting factor in achievable instrument performance. Combining isolation systems by stacking them and forming two-stage systems can be an effective way to achieve exceptional vibration isolation performance, but such complex systems do not come without challenges.
