Tucumcari is a special Rt 66 town, one of my favorites.

I wonder if that tunnel, is some kind of flash flood protection system, to divert the water away from the highway if the area floods. It's really amazing how much historical stuff to see and experience on route 66.

I've seen these tunnels used to move cattle from one range to another.
