I can't seem to get the closing sound on the hi hat. not sure why. I only get either fully closed or open. Is there somewhere i can get samples of the Hihat closing vs the only open or close samples that Roland provides?
@@Guitarkungfu I'll take a look in my next video mate for you guys, I'm sure there are other people too. If I can't figure it out I'll try to come up with a solution of some kind

Your videos are great, and I dig your sense of humor! I also like the sound of the "Hybrid Latin" kit you made-I notice one pad on the upper right sounded like a bongo. If you have time, do you mind telling me what the base sounds are you have on each pad? And also if those are stock sounds on the Roland.
Heya, thanks so much! Yeah I can do a video about some of the patches I've created if you'd like? Talk through pad by pad and effects etc? 🙂 they're all stock sounds, I haven't imported anything that I actually use 👌🥁
@@Electronicdrumtips Thanks so much for the quick reply!! I would love to see you do a video on some of your patches. I bet others would love that too. I am a hand percussion player too (started on bongos and congas), so I love hearing that sound on a e-Kit. I see your beautiful congas in the background too. 😀

Is there a way to achieve the hi-hat control function using a regular pedal, without the actual hi-hat? I’d like to be able to open and close the hi-hat while playing it on the SPD. Thanks in advance for your help!
Hi there, I'm not sure if those models are compatible to be honest, but I will be doing another video about attaching hihats as I'm going to try to make a pedal of a totally different model work if possible 😅
Hello, I have a Roland Cy12 CR which as you know has 2 inputs: Cowbell and Edge. How should I connect it? With 2 mono cables in 2 spdsx inputs? With 2 stereo cables always in 2 inputs? Or with a split cable which on one side is stereo to be connected to an input of the spdsx pro and on the other 2 mono to be connected to the 2 inputs of the cy12? All this always to get the sound of the ride, the bell and the crash in the same devices. A thousand thanks.
Hiya, I would say safely no, I tried a carlsbro foot pedal in the Pro and it didn't work, however if you have the brain of the other brand pedal you could connect it and use the line input but you'd have to use the sounds off the other brain 🙂
Hello everyone, new drum guy here; I live in a small flat, and I own a spd sx pro; I was wondering if you could give me some tips on how to use it with the Melodics app? I tried MIDI mapping, but I have an error message saying that my device sends unexpected notes. I hope to learn drumming through this app, so I would appreciate it if you have any suggestions. Thanks
Hiya, yes you're absolutely right, it may still work to some degree but you'd have to tell the SPD that its a VH10 or VH11 anyway or similar so may as well save the money and get one of those 👍
@@Electronicdrumtips Sadly, it’s not compatible with VH14. I paid half of price analog top tier hi-hat and condenser mic instead of that new roland thing. What a frustrated company, they want to sell their modules for VH14. Thanks for the video. 🤍
Hi mate, I don't have it anymore, it was just a Big Dog hihat stand with a Roland VH-11 on it. I don't think the fd9 works with a stand because it's a stand alone pedal isn't it?
Hi there, you should be able to do it the same way, just going to the setting and selecting that trigger as opposed to the one I'm using. Should work just the same I think 🙂👍
Hola , no consigo obtener esa dinámica con el Fd-9, expresión de abierto y cerrado , en el roland spd 30 si se puede pero en roland sp sx pro no se puede !
Hiya, I guess you could control it through the Line Input also? You'd only have control of the volume though and have to change all other parameters on the 20 👍
Hello :) . I've read the manual, watched videos, but I still don't have an answer on how to set SPD sx pro so that when you press hh ctrl it mutes the sound of open hh (as here at 9:39 - ruclips.net/video/E9R4kOH6odU/видео.htmlsi=ceNdNEUUzIa-_aNx ) and so that I could play hh with my foot... I try and nothing. I have fd-8 and cy-8. Can u help me? I connected FD8 to hh ctrl via mono (ive tried steeo cable too, no rrolts) cable and CY5 to triggin 1/2 via stereo cable. And set 'hihat' in pad settings. And i cant stop playing open hat using foot, and i cant hear "chick" sound playing hh by foot :(

Yes it works with the fd-9, you trigger open or close... but can't do gradual opening I guess
