    How you say
"Slow it down..as if you're heroin" so casually. Maybe it's the THC but i found that humorous!
Also loved how you showed that slow down to help us understand this awesome rythym.

Clif is a great guitar player! No way around that because that's a fact. I've been playing guitar and bass guitar for on and of for 37 years. I studied music for one semester at UC for guitar and bass guitar. I'm a better bass player because nobody else wants to play the bass. I was told by Bootsy Collins that I was a good bass player. Hey at 19 years told being told that your a OK bass player by Bootsy was a great complement! Plus he went a far as getting me a few jobs recording bass lines for singer or band. When he didn't want them are like the music. It was all good to me. I lived about about 20 minutes from him, but it was a cheese metal band. That paid for everything for me to play bass on their demo tape. They let me put a bass solo in respect to Cliff Burton from Metallica. The guy that recorded it sent a copy of my bass solo to Bootsy. It was just me showing that I could play all different styles and ways. Then lead it into the right key of the song that their was going to play. Plus I add some chords voicing because they had to guitar player both play the same thing. I have footage of my band winning the battle of the bands in Cincinnati, Ohio up into the smart finals in 1991. Before RUclips or WI-FI was out! Here's a copy of the link. I'll save you time go to 29mins and 36seconds to hear and see us playing out live in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The more I learn the more simple i understand how these songs cameto be and hwy they are played the way they are, strum during sing, lick between singing, start singing before the 1 all little things that make it easier to get into the same flow that the Dead did....

Whoaaaa. When you slowed it down my heart almost skipped a beat. That's pretty cool. Really wanted to hear that little finger pick streamlined right into the strum and seamless. Gosh though the more you're playing the more I want to learn this song!! It's funny; you really get an idea of the complexity of this piece through an acoustic presentation like this. Is this song their Magnum Opus? I really think so. It's just such an incredible arrangement all around, with so many layers of nuance in the composition.

That last D progression? What the heck is best way to do a D#m7-5 (what is that anyway, seems to be on all tabs? thinking its Dm7b5?) Thx for any ez tip if you know one on this part! Cheers

What does Jerry's tragic use of heroin have to do with the genius writing of Terrapin?? That has nothing to do with why he chose the slower tempo. The fact that Jerry Garcia accomplished so much while in the grips of this terrible addiction is a testament to his unwavering talent.

I think it's easier and sounds better for the riff :
    open G, G2, B1, E1, B5 ,B3, open B , B1
    IMHO
The crescendo before pt 2 must have 15 different tabs and most of them are wrong. I always screw up the pause at the end if the refrain if i haven't played it for a while, which is always.
There is a video of the Terrapin Family Band doing the entire song, and it' sweet.
It's a lot of work to play that song, no wonder The Dead only did it once. It's a lot to remember. I dont even try part 2.

He is actually part of the dead extended family, the only licensed instructor by Ice Nine publishing and the Dead offices, so he is not only entitled, he is a national treasure in my estimation... his instruction brings you closer to Jerry's and Bobby's mind than any other avenue. So I get what you were saying but I feel differently about him!
