Thanks! No matter how careful I’ve been with pulling the frets from my Taylor, I’ve had similar chip outs.
It’s a dark fingerboard so figured there would be an easy solution to fill them in. 😇

Great vid and idea. Thank you so much for this. Got a free P bass neck that needed re-fretted. My first time doing this. I removed frets on the maple neck, sanded to bare wood. I have a few chips to repair and had no clue on how to safely do it. So thanks to you I feel confident enough to do this. Going to stain and finish with tru oil followed by tru oil wax. Hope it turns out well. THANKS AGAIN!!!

Thank you for another great video! I was literally about to buy teflon fret dams from S. Mac since I have to order a couple other things from them. This just saved me having to buy that. I already have teflon tape.

1:15 I slapped myself. I'm preparing for a refret since...forever. (reaching the point of maximum brooding, so I have to start soon^^). I got myself a sheet of teflon (PTFE) the width of the slots.
It wasn't expensive, but still...never crossed my mind. Thank you. It will seal even better than having a hard sheet of teflon in there.
If you do a really expensive repair, look for certain super glue from the guys that make lock tite. There is one that stays absolutely clear. It won't get milky when it hardens and won't get slightly yellow after lots of years. It's not cheap though. I'm thinking about buying a tiny bottle for a drop fill where the paint job caved in but the colour would still shine through the layer of glue on top.

INGENIOUS! the carpet knife blade Teflon dam! I always have to use a fret slot cleaning saw, so this will save me mucho time!

The Yellow teflon tape which is used for gas plumbing is thicker and sturdier. It would be better for your ingenious "trick". Thanks for sharing tips.

Would you use this same process to fill larger fingernail dents/divots in the first 7 or so frets of an ebony fretboard? Or at that point might you consider replacing the whole fretboard? The guitar I'm thinking of was made in '86 and has beautiful block inlays of abalone that I don't really want to deal with. But somebody dug their fingernails in pretty deep and it's bugging me. Need to replace frets anyway.

Use a radius gauge to make a pencil mark across the razor blade and then sand the radius into the blade following the pencil line.
