  • Steve and Jeffrey both have videos of the spot up and I believe we post more.
    My camera wasn’t working on the first dive, but steve got the video from his perspective and it’s pretty insane how many fish were moving in and out of this cave.
    Steve’s dive, which is the first dive on the spot
    • Carbo nest down west

    Jeffrey dive, which would be the second dive on the spot

      I asked Jason this a few months ago. Dan ran out of content and moved to the mountains I was told. I was a big fan of Dan, however Jason has carried the torch and fills the void now!

      He retired and sold the boat to a guy named Zach. I talk with Zach every now and then but haven’t dove with him yet. Sounds like a good guy just haven’t lined up a trip.

    unfortunate video, total inequality. Fortunately in Spain as in many other countries. Spearfishing does not allow the use of oxygen in tanks and you depend on your apnea capacity and your physical fitness. What a Catalina video, if not pure shit...

    • @jasonbihari
      @jasonbihari  6 месяцев назад

      You would never see this fish unless it came up on a fishing pole then. It’s way past any Freedivers ability that I know and I know quite a few that would love the opportunity to get a fish like this.

      @@jasonbihari It is obvious. In one case the fish has a chance, the better the angler's lung capacity and fitness, the better his chances. In your case, any "mindungui" can put some bottles on his back and go down to 40 meters, having a limited amount of time to stay down and return to the top alive. In your case you only go down to kill a fish that is at a clear disadvantage. In my country you would have fines of more than $10,000 and probably jail time. while in the eyes of any freediver fisherman you would be a clear reason for contempt for the environment and marine life. I will not respond to more comments because it probably bothers you to have more visits to your video which should be removed

    • @jasonbihari
      @jasonbihari  6 месяцев назад

      @pablopezsurfero you know I have several friends who compete in spearing competitions around the world who work hard to try for this fish. I’d gladly put them on one and be very proud of them for their accomplishments but they are not ready for this depth yet. I ask all the time what they are ready for. 160-180 is just too deep for even some of the top shooters. It might be divable but to hunt a 60-100 lb grouper safely is a different story.

      He does really good as well. Sometimes big fish bend and break things. Jeffrey did the back dive and said it was dead laying on it’s side in the cave. Was super easy extraction.

    Love your videos (in general) but in this one you guys come across as rank amateurs. You powerheaded a huge Black Grouper but then lost a mortally wounded fish because...? You both have two powerbands on your spearguns but you both use only one. C'mon guys, I know it's easy to be a Monday morning quarterback, but it looks like you both squandered multiple follow up shots by only using one powerband. This is inexcusable. Please don't let this happen again!

    • @jasonbihari
      @jasonbihari  3 месяца назад

      We got the fish on the back dive though. That one was 65 pounds. That’s just how we run it. I leave very few injured fish down there. Especially black grouper.

    Seriously? Spearfishing with tanks, where is the sport in this? Totally illegal here in Australia, and rightfully so! Totally unfair advantage, decimate the fish stocks, none of the physical health benefits of free diving, inherent dangers with scuba. But show everyone your good deed of clearing invasive lion fish, so that you look like some kind of environmental hero. You are not. You are the complete opposite.

    • @jasonbihari
      @jasonbihari  6 месяцев назад

      We have been doing it this way for longer than I’ve been alive. The guy that trained me has been scuba diving out here since the 70s and our fish stocks are just fine. We have limits on how many and a certain size we can take just like rod and reel. This gives our fish a chance to reproduce before we take them. If something is threatened they will close them down so don’t worry about the fishery. Just because you’re not allowed to do it doesn’t make it bad. That’s just what you guys have been told. Don’t get all hyped up about what someone does half way around the world ether when there’s nothing you can do about it. Just live your life and enjoy what you can. I’m over here doing the same.

    • @brucehooke4647
      @brucehooke4647 6 месяцев назад

      Haha..”just because you’re not allowed to do it, doesn’t make it bad” …. FFS man! Can you believe you wrote that? If you’re not allowed to do it, that means it’s illegal, right? And it’s illegal here for the environmental reasons I mentioned before, but you and your like-minded buddies can’t accept that. Don’t pad your replies out with stories of who taught you, and how long it’s been going on, as if it adds to your perceived entitlement, that’s a smokescreen, and doesn’t address the main topic here. We have nothing but written words that you only take your quota, that your fisheries are effectively regulated, and that your fish stocks are sustainable,etc. No doubt you will again have some ‘expert’ statistics to back this up. Sadly, I do realise that my comments will have no effect on seeing this type of plundering stopped, so, looks like you win, champ! I will indeed continue to enjoy my life here, and I will indeed continue to comment on any unethical practices happening in the world. As is my right! What a great pity that most people will only interpret your videos as some kind of brave(?) hunting adventure while the knowledgeable minority will see it for what it really is.

    • @jasonbihari
      @jasonbihari  6 месяцев назад

      Listen real hard and long at what I’m writing. You believe it’s wrong because your country says it’s illegal and your forefathers or whoever taught you believe it is wrong. Look at my videos to see how our fish stocks are doing with plenty of all species and even the ones That our government feels are threatened are thriving because they’ve regulated them. Not by method of take but by size and time of take and how many we are collectively allowed to harvest from an area. Yes we’ve been doing this for over 50 years and our Fish population is still thriving. That’s the reason why it’s not illegal here. It’s not the method It’s the letting them reproduce and not taking too many to where it’s not sustainably healthy. Maybe our waters are just thriving better than yours and it’s not right for you. The world is not just one place. It’s big and very diverse. You might be just so close minded to not understand that or maybe you just don’t have the territory to support a healthy fish population. Hard to say. I’m not beating my chest here. I’m just showing a little bit of my life because there’s a bunch of people that enjoy to watch it including friends and family. I’m not out here to change the world, especially when I have no control over it. Yes you’re free to say whatever the hell you wanna say but this is my channel and I don’t really care to read it. from here it just seems like you put yourself up on a high pedestal and think you’re all in mighty when in reality I’m just laughing at you because you’re a dumbass. I get guys like you every couple weeks having a RUclips channel so this is nothing new to me. I could teach you a thing or two about it if you’re interested in the restraints of Diving on Scuba, especially at the depths that I’m hitting and it might not seem so irresponsible or unethical when you find out that I do not have all day and at that depth. in fact at 170 feet I have less than five minutes and I can do about seven of those dives a day. Don’t sound like I’m hurting the population with those restrictions does it?
