thank you!
I re-watch this one every once in a while. Never gets old, satisfying as hell, simple.
I love Jimmy's voice, its actually soothing to listen to. :)
Never get tired of the older videos. Also, I used to hit up the Punjabi taxi food place you were talking about in the last Making it episode. My friends and I used to go there after a night of partying in the city. Awesome place.
Sit here all day waiting for Jimmy's videos. Thank you for all the awesome content. It's makers like you Bob and David that have inspired me to start making. This past weekend I finished my first client work. I don't even have a shop, just a front porch and a pop up canopy. And hello from Okinawa, Japan.
I really enjoy the narrated vids. Also even as a period furniture maker I was cracking up about the multi tool "this will ruffle some feathers" Those are tough dovetails to do on that scale and I would say you nailed it!
An oldie but a goodie! Great build!
I always love it when you go back and re-post an old video. So many times I've missed something that you posted on another channel it's good to see them when they pop up on your channel.
Thank u Bro!!
It came out beautiful Jimmy :D
Yeah your videos are very 'evergreen' and are just as good the second time around.
One of the first self produced videos by DiResta I watched. Jimmy is a class act and way too good for TV.
Wow, great build.
I really appreciate the re-post of this video. I Have 4 white oak slabs, 2 to 3 inch x 17 inch x12 foot I want to make a few benches using them.
Thanks again for the re-post.
@ 2:36 "...you gotta know how to use it, you gotta be gentle". As he bangs on the Dremel with a mallet. HA HA! Hello Mr. D. Love the video. Thank you for sharing this with us.

geez...corrected... (=
I know this is a repeat but it's fun watching again.
Thanks for the great content you bring week after week. You continue to inspire me to create - thank you!
Still love this build.... chunky dovetails! I look forward to seeing more DiResta classics back on your channel.
So simply and so beautiful.. Great job as always Jimmy :)
This is one of my fav pieces you've made. I love the look of the dye on that wood
Still one of my favorite builds of yours. Conceptually simple, but executed beautifully. Love the black finish, too.
This is one of my favorites. Have easily watched it 20+ times on the core77 channel.
this is a rewatch for me... even so, I saw the whole thing. And loved every second !
This has been one of favorite projects, enjoyed seeing the process on the dovetails!!!
Jimmy and Willy doing their thing. Amazing work as always! Thank you
This is one of my favorite videos....love those sawmill marks. Great work, Jimmy!
Beautifully done JIMMY! I'm impressed as always.
Still very enjoyable video, when revisiting these video's new things come to mind. Thanks jimmy!
Beautiful work as always Jimmy. I LOVE the saw marks.
I was fascinated with this bench 6 years ago when I first saw this video. I have some spalted maple slabs similar that I want to use to make something similar. I hope it turns out half as good. I also have the black dye DiResta used as well as the Ebony Minwax. Now to get off my butt and actually do it.
Nice build. BTW another way to get oak black is to "ebonize" it. Not done much anymore but was common in the early 1900's. You take vinegar and iron (old plain nails , scrap etc.) and let that soak for awhile then paint it on the oak and it reacts with the tannins in the oak and turns black. Like the die it penetrates a bit so it doesn't wear off as easily and because it's not a coating the wear tends to look "natural" unlike paint. Not sure if it works on any wood other than oak since I think it needs the oak tannin for the reaction. I'm also a big fan of dye.
Awesome bench, Jimmy! Love the dye and the ebony wax. I generally hate painting wood especially when it has those beautiful saw marks. Great job!
I love the narration, super awesome!
Love it.. great job, great video as always. Thanks for sharing Jimmy.
Finally time for Diresta's Cut to come to the main channel I see! I love the commentated videos
Great stuff Jimmy, no matter how many times I watch it.
Beautiful piece, I had missed that video! The dovetails look really nice!
Beautiful Bench. Nice work!
Love your work Jimmy. Very inspirational!!
Excellent. Wicked smart use of the multi tool.
Gone from "old video" to "older video" :D
No matter the age, or how many times ive watched it, i always watch again and enjoy your work.
Another perfect creation in the books from Mr. Jimmy Diresta ;-)
this bench is awesome! love the black dye!
I love when you narrate your videos!
Beautiful piece
When I saw you putting the black on the oak, I thought "Oh, no. Ruining the good look of the wood." But, after all said and done, it came out beautiful. Nice dovetails to boot.
That finish looks amazing!
I just watched this the other day while going through your old videos
This thing is a beast! I love it!!!
Always a pleasure watching you work, thanks. Maybe someday I’ll make the time to do this.
Man, I sure am impressed with your finishes. I've read about Lockwood dyes, but never used them, but they sure seem easy and you cant argue with the results!
The only other route i've seen for a black like that, someone used India ink on a piece for a coal black look that left the grain open, but I imagine the cost was insane.
I like seeing your videos old or new ones! Thanks for sharing Jimmy Very Cool 😎😎😎😜👍👍👍
You inspire me to build more, Thanks Jimmy!
Very nice work, as always!
Dang Dude, that turned out awesome. One fine job!!!
Early congrats for reaching 1M subscribers! Great video.
How did I miss the original video....This was an awesome design Jimmy...Love using some rough lumber any day.
Great one...once again.
I have learned a lot from your videos so far.
Rewatched for like the fifth time. Trying to get brave enough to risk some cherry slabs I have with my own dovetail skills.
(internal baby voice) "but, but you might not do it PERFECT..."
lol
You make it look so easy. Me, not so much..... Awesome work!!!
Great job Jimmy it's an oldy but a goody.
Me too i love these redos Keep it up Jimmy
i love the way that on the very second you mention you gotta be careful with the tool you were using, you hammered it xd
I'd love to have that in my house. Using the dye was a great idea. Awesome job Jimmy!

🇧🇷 E DIRESTA É SHOW 👌🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I'm a big guy and I look at some pieces of furniture and wonder if is sturdy enough. Others I just know they are not. This one is built for me and is beautiful as well. Always a pleasure Sir.
Simple project... by simple tools. i like that :)
Before you was a pup, I worked in a sawmill, when we hit hardware, normally finished sawing the log before re-sharpening , that was some serious texture.
Should of saved some.
I ran the edger, thousands of feet ran thru these two hands.
Brilliant!
always inspire jimmy!
I love that Submariner you're rocking!
Wow that's a really nice idea with that dremel. I might have to try that.
Gorgeous Jimmy!!!
Welcome back Rolex.
great work
what an amazing tip, use sawdust to fill gaps when applying the stain. Mind blown.
and then he dyed it black...(face palm) love your vids and everything you do.
