Last year I met some adjusters but one of them was a Public adjuster and we build a really good relationship and he offered me to work as his estimator… and now I have over a year experience on large losses claims and specially working on Xactimate, and few certifications like IICRC, Xactimate lvl 1,2… and currently I’m studying to take the test and get my adjuster license so I can move on and work as IA and eventually maybe as a PA
Congratulations on That! Minus The PA and Lvl 2 XM8 part I'm In the same boat. I have 2 different Roofing Licenses 1 with estimatics/loss. Job offer Tuesday as a Roof Inspector/Estimator. Studying for my exam as we speak. We Will Pass, Good Luck!!
I'm super excited to have found this channel, I want to switch my career from a Building Inspector based in Gqeberha (South Africa) to a Loss Adjuster.
I just accepted a position as a field property CAT adjuster for a big insurance company so i won’t be independent but I’ve been here for 5 years. I’m excited to start traveling after training and helping our customers.
Im so glad to have found this channel! A wealth of information. My question is can you turn down certain assignments or are these companies counting on you to accept every one they reach out to you for? And if you can and do turn some away, does that hurt your chances of being contacted regularly?
Yes and no. Starting out if you get a call, you should take it. Once you get some experience, you can decline if you are committed to another firm. Just be polite and professional.
You forgot to mention being on call for being an IA. That means if a serious loss happens you better be ready to get up at 2 am if the phone rings to collect the info. You also need to have a good repor with police.
Good afternoon guys I got my license maybe a month ago. After applying adjuster jobs for the past couple of weeks I haven’t receive any offers yet. Please I’m open to any advice what am I doing wrong.
How can you apply to firms once you get your address or license insurance for all states Florida? If you have no experience, how do you get hired? Where can I promote myself?
I wish I had known this before I obtained an adjuster license and state farm certifications. 1. How to get a claims adjuster license: High School diploma 2. How to get work as a claims adjuster: Obtain a 4-year bachelor's degree in risk management and insurance. If you don't have any type of college degree, then you have no chance of even getting hired. But you might get a chance with IA firms (even free training), but you will have to handle your own travel expenses - hotel, food, gas, etc. If you don't own a car, then good luck renting a car for about 30 days. Edit 2/26/2023 - You can get hired also if your past jobs has any relevance to claims adjusting: sales job, police, network service helper, customer services, or any other "college" degree. If you see yourself wanting to do this in the future and you have no past job experience relevant to this field of work, then GOOD LUCK. Also, INDEPENDENT afjuster firms hire and train new people, but you have to have your own equipment, and a presentable- work friendly vehicle is preferred. I'm not saying anyone new can't get hired, but be prepared to spend some money until you get paid your first week.
I assume the search for every possible coverable item has to do with the fact that the insurance company you are working for has Re-Insurance to cover THEM. Am I right? is the Re-Insurance payback to the Insurer an actual source of REVENUE to the insurer in this situation?
same here. been a RE appraiser for 25 years and 20 of it self employed. looking for a change and there seems to be some crossover between these two careers. obviously not the same but could be somewhat of a lateral move.
I am very interested in learning how to be an insurance adjuster. Can anyone recommend online courses ? Im told to sign up for the Texas all lines course but not sure which online school to choose ?
Get practical hands-on training first. This is what most insurance companies appreciate most. Check for such training at Mocat, VAS, Eberl etc. The have both free online courses and paid face-to-face courses. All the best
Yes Anthem BCBS for example for health insurance, Delta Dental . Also there are Auto liability adjusters, General Liability adjusters, Workers Compensation adjusters. These jobs are desk adjuster jobs and you work directly for an insurance company. You can make a career as these type of adjusters as well with very good salary.
60k a year?? Absolutely not. Explain how you come up with these numbers. I know adjusters that make 60 to 100k a month and only work half a year. 60k a year is Mcdonalds money.
I suggest starting with the list found a little ways down the page here: www.nacatadj.org/exhibitor-information The companies that have booths at this convention are actively seeking new talent.
A lot of things go into that transition. First you have to have licenses in state(s) u want to work in. If your doing CAT you have to add yourself to as many rosters as possible. Or find an IA firm hiring firld adjusters in your area. Before u do all that make sure you know how to inspect properties and do damage estimates accurately.
Save your money also to have thousands of dollars on hand, because from what I understand you will pay for your hotel and it may take a few weeks before your payment cycle starts as an IA.
Just talk to your phone company. They should have some info on your lost phone or contact apple too. meanwhile, you can get an old Iphone and download all your data from iCloud and life goes on. You will also be able to deactivate and lock (brick) the lost phone.
If you are screening people over you are not doing the job correctly. It’s either covered or it’s not. CAT adjusting is simply easier because the damage is obvious and covered.
Since I've started going down the "adjuster" trabbit hole, your content by far stands out as the most informative and organized content.

you mean denying them
I had a career in Servpro I'm healthy active and ready to learn I just turned 60 and I'm fit and ready to go
So basically writing estimates relates to the field adjuster scope of work & file reviewing is reviewing files of desk adjusters correct

you can pay a few hundred to have someone climb the roof and take photos for you
Use a drone

I seen other people say get more certifications..
You may want to apply at an insurance company and get claims handling experience (if u dont have any) and then move to being an independent adj.

I’m asking this exact question. I have my license in Texas
can you address the change in pay for adjusters from percentage payment to fee based pay, like ryze
If just starting out, do you think its wiser to start by working for a company first before being independent?
True, but no company will hire you unless you have a bachelor's degree.
