Copper superheroes. Wilson Disease

Patients with Wilson disease cannot get rid of the copper content in food. This is accumulated in the liver and brain, producing serious diseases including cirrhosis, hepatic failure, gait and movement difficulties, speech and psychological problems, and even death.
An early diagnosis and a lifelong treatment are essential to prevent the copper accumulation and so avoid serious symptoms.
On The Day of Rare Diseases, the Spanish Association of Families and Patients with Wilson Disease wants to give visibility to this metabolic disorder. Our objective is raising awareness in the general population and achieving and early diagnostic in the routine check-ups of children in our country.
