- 35-year-old engineer Nimal Raghavan who returned from Dubai five years ago, has made it his mission to rejuvenate Tamil Nadu's lakes. His projects are underway in J&K, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh & with crowdfunding as well as villagers' support, he is on his way to restore all dried-up lakes till none remains.

This is the beauty of Tamilnadu. There is leader in every one as they respect their people, respect their language and respect their state. Yes, a lot of people are all talk and no action, like they think their words alone are going to inspire everyone else to do the work for them, when it is the action which is the only thing that will ring the changes.
This man has done amazing work. Even a tenth of the number of restorations is amazing enough.
There needs to be much more global recognition for people like this.
As a watcher from London, I am amazed that no one in the vid tells of what is being restored - the Cauvery delta water management installed under the Chola from over1000 years ago. Nimal is humbly re-instating the works of his ancestors
I am from Karnataka and salute such leaders in Tamil Nadu hope we have more such leaders countrywide
I lived in Ramanathapuram during 1980-81 and used to buy a bucket of water for Re. 0.25. Four buckets of water daily for Re.1/- daily. God bless this gentleman and give him a long life.
That was back when children would ask for Paisa, Paisa during Holi Now irs "Lakh Rupee, all major credit cards accepted'. The 80s were a different world

I salute this Engineer and wish him health, joy and prosperity.
India needs to restore its million plus lakes and restore its filthy dead rivers. During my travels in China I see thousands of projects restoring lakes and rivers on a war footing and China's citizens taking an active role since they want a good environment and it is also a matter of national pride.
India needs problem solvers like these hats off to you man 🔥🔥

This person deserves all applause. Lakes serve as supplier of ground water where evaporation is least. Unfortunately, there is a tendency to occupy the lake land. There is need to restore the lakes and social awareness should be created to preserve the lakes. Good effort.
Pass the word on using Permaculture techniques and thinking… that is where the big changes happen, when many people come together to build small water slowing mounds along the contours of the lands. Planting on these little curved earth, stone, and stick mounds helps recharge everything faster and bring back balance!
This is what a news media has to do...outstanding work by the engineer and you sir..

Hats off Mr. Nirmal. I believe govt should take of village lakes as a project. In Telangana Mission Kakathiya Mission Govt restored every lake in every Village. That brought more land into irrigation and ground water level increased.
