Always a good day when you upload. What I like about your style is that you mix in lots of historical context (like that rap at 8:00😂,) you use the actual enemy names, and you analyse the gameplay so throughly. I actually have an OG Game Boy with Super Mario Land, something about playing it on original "green tint" B&W hardware is so fun. One of the things I liked about it is how they even changed all of the sound effects from the norm. The coin sound, the jump sound, the power up sound, the take damage sound.. all different from the rest of the series. I hate falling down super fast after running off a platform though😅 You wouldn't understand how frustrating it is until you actually play it. I've never really got round to SML2, but I do have it on my 3DS, I just haven't got round to it yet lol. Keep up the high quality content. Waiting 3 months for an upload is totally worth it IMO when you're this entertaining and informative🎉

Wario throwing his shoe at you before running off when you beat him is an absolutely incredible detail, especially for such a simple game. It's the pettiest little shit goblin move I've ever seen a villain pull in a game and I want more like it.
Super Mario Land 2 is one of my favorite 2D Mario game, It's so upbeat and quirky, I love it! I'd say my only complaint is the difficult spike in the final level, probably resulted by the lack of linearity in the game, requiring levels with a similar level of difficult. But the game as whole feels like a breeze, not the most challenging of them, but one I always have a lot o fun playing :-)
Another great video!! Personaly, I love those 2 games as much as the classics from NES and SNES. There's this weird flavor to them that makes they really stand out from the rest of the series, going against many staples the series had far, like not having Bowser, Peach and Luigi in any of the 2 games, and working really great anyway. That's a similar feeling I have with the new game Super Mario Wonder and the reason I'm so excited to play it!
My first mario game ever was Mario Land for my Game Boy. Honestly, Super Mario Bros 3 is my favorite Mario game ever and I think it's basically peak Mario, but both Land and Land 2 are among my favorite games and I think do a lot of things right. Both of them have worlds that have a lot of personality, both introduce unique enemies and mechanics to each world and nothing overstays its welcome. Ofc the limitations of the Game Boy degrades the experience a bit, but I think both are still a lot of fun and Land 2 in particular could be among the best Mario games ever if it was done on the Mario World engine and had a couple extra levels - so much so that I plan to program that myself.
Back in the good old days when Nintendo wasn't afraid to experiment with every Mario game instead of just releasing cardboard cutouts with a few new ideas here and there.
The way you said Koji Kondo does the music reminded me of the Wario Land games(1, 2, 3 & VB) cause their music has a similar philosophy, if that makes any sense

To be honest, they've been experimenting with Mario a lot in the Switcn era. Odyssey and Wonder are both very unique games

Mario Wonder, Odyssey and 3D World are 100% different games with different graphics and mechanisms. They still definitely experiment with every game.
