American me isn't A hood film or a Gangstar film. It's a prison film. I'd put it with movies like Lockup or the shawshank redemption. Boys in the hood and menace to society are hood films. Good fellas and Casino are Gangstar films. There's a difference.💯

Well technically it is about a prison GANG. Therefore it may be a film about prison but to say it’s not a gangster film would be misleading. Good fellas and casino are movies about the MAFIA if you want to get technical about it.

Menace 2 Society is better than American Me & Boyz in the hood. The Hughes brothers aren’t giving their work enough credit. I can appreciate the humility, & both Boyz in the hood & American Me are ground breaking great films… but Menace was more epic through & through than Boyz. You felt the pressure building all throughout the film. Menace’s script & dialogue was better than American Me. All three have crazy climatic endings. I still think Boyz might have the most impactful conclusion with Doughboy being killed a few weeks later. That was bone chilling. But I’m splitting hairs.

@Ms.Matthews415 He probably would be in politics or a advocate.Doing some type of fundraisers or charities Big brother little brother type stuff.Or a school like his sister and Mom started. I think he would have moved into doing movies a actor, a director and a writer owning his own production company. Also working behind the scenes in the music industry as far as finding artist having his own recording label.I don't think the role in menace to society was right for him either.I think he needed more diverse roles that would showcase his range. I definitely agree with you if pac would not have died.He probably would have grew as an actor and started to get offered more different types of roles. He probably would have started to hang out in the acting circles.Because that looks like that was what he was starting to do becoming more serious about his acting. He needed a role somewhat like his poetic Justice role. The role that John singleton was going to give Pac in higher learning would have been great showing him as a college student.

I would hate to see what Menace looked like before yall saw American me because in my opinion. Menace is an okay, entertaining movie. I mean it was good but once I left the theater. I didnt think about it. It was deep by any stretch. It was like a day in the life in the hood. Thats how I saw it. So what did yall have before. Boyz n tha hood was very deep to me and the characters had substance.

I think Boyz N The Hood may have held up the worst over time out of all of them, even though it had the benefit of being the first of them, and maybe the most culturally relevant of them due to that

Well besides that one that had Tupac riding around in a mail truck with Janet Jackson. I think most people have even expunged that one from their memories, they liked it so little 😅
