There are two types of Sea Urchin in Tassie. Short spine (Heliocidaris) that feed on drift weed and have a low environmental impact. Then along came Long spine Urchin (Centrostephanus). Centro are a range extended species from mainland Australia that feed on live weeds and have a devastating effect on the marine environment when numbers build up.
