  • In this VLOG we take a medieval tour of Tallinn Old Town with a local guide called Koit, who we contacted through the tourist information centre and arranged a private tour.
    The story of the medieval time in Tallinn (originally named Reval) is told as we walk along seeing all the scenic views of this incredible historic part of Tallinn in the sunshine!
    If you are interested in attending this tour & want to learn more please see: www.talesofrev...
    *Although Tallinn is in lockdown due to covid-19, there is still freedom to be outside and the restrictions are now starting to lift as more places open.
    TKT tip/fact: If you want an authentic and fun way to learn about the beautiful old town of Tallinn, take a tour with one of the guides but also make time to wonder around some of the tiny cobbled streets as well and you’ll find yourself some true gems of places to eat and drink along the way.

    A British couple from just outside London, England. We got married in 2018 and decided instead of a honeymoon we’d travel the world together for a year. We saved money and travel points, quit our jobs, rented our house out and boarded a one way flight. We started this RUclips channel to share our experiences with friends, family and anyone who plans to travel to the places we’re visiting. We leave TKT tips/facts on all our vlogs and blogs to give information that we wish we’d had before visiting. We hope you find our content useful :)

    The Reval etymology is just a known folk etymology though. The name preceded Danish rule and the ancient Estonian county was named Revala county. It most likely comes from the word "raba" (bog).

    What a great video. I'll visit Tallinn in two weeks and I'm curious whether I can get a guide like him. But: You should level out your sound in a better way. The music blows off your ears and when you then turn down the volume, you don't understand the voice comments.

    • @TideKnotTravellers
      @TideKnotTravellers  2 года назад

      Thank you, all the guides are great and passionate (we met most of them during our time) but you could ask for Koit in the tourist information just off of town hall square. Thank you for the feedback about the sound, we have adjusted the volume in our more recent videos so hopefully that issue is resolved. Enjoy Tallinn it's so beautiful!

    People have gotten much taller in just my lifetime. When I was a young man, I was considered tall because 5 foot 8 inches was an average height for a man and I was taller than that. Now I am considered average height or even short. Two things are substantially bigger in Millennials than they were in the parents or grandparents time. The first is feet. Peoples' feet today are huge compared to sizes from 50 years ago. No one 50 years ago would have had size 12 or 13 feet, even if they were relatively tall. And the second thing is the increasing height. I have read studies that says what accounts for that is not necessarily an improved diet; it is an altered diet meaning more meats are eaten containing growth hormone. And I am sure there is a lot of truth to that. People today look like monsters. A good example is Queen Elizabeth. When she was a young woman she was not abnormally short. She fit in well in size with ladies of her generation; but now the Queen looks like a dwarf compared to females like Michelle Obama or Melania Trump.
