If it's squealing, you make make sure your belt is tight enough when your belt is loose it will squeal for a bit, then stop . I would hate for you to replace something that doesn't need replacing.
Awesome job it's good to see someone do a real service video the way it's supposed to be done , I watched 3 before this 15 to 30 mins long driving to the part store for a none oil filled compressor (no pag oil, expansion valve , no system cleaner )then not doing the repair on video?? Then charge the system with 12 oz top off can calls for 1.8 pounds without vacuuming the system and no temp check . You know HVAC system's and I didn't yell at this video so wife liked it to lol . thanks for the time saving advice I was going to do it on the bench so saves me a lot of work .
Somehow the clutch screw and washer had fallen off mine and thankfully got lodged in a gap so I was able to locate my issue. I was getting really bad rattling and the plate was loose. Im going to try this and hope nothing else is broke
If you don't have a gear puller and you have some bad ass drill bits you can drill through the old pulley if you are replacing it and then take out the 3 Philips screws after disconnecting the wires. If your throwing that part away and don't want to pay for a new tool.

I'm thinking this is exactly what's wrong with my Nissan Murano, it's making a rattling noise and not blowing cold air...hopefully this is the fix! With this issue, I shouldn't have to replace the compressor?
Nope, pressure is pumping fine, in my case, the coil was bad. Replace the coil, pulley, and clutch, and she runs like new dealer cost to replace compressor was $1200. My cost? 50 bucks and afternoon away from the wife in the yard.

If your talking about what angle did I have my snap ring pliers? I have tips on them that are at a angle and I was going in the hole straight my tips are a little worn that's why it popped off

Thanks. You will need snap ring pliers screwdriver and probably a puller. You buy clutch kit has all the clutch parts if that's what your asking. Doesn't come with tools. Some part stores will rent you tools. Good luck.

Hello, Sir. If you were to check resistance of the clutch, you would do it against ground, right? Also, it you were to energize the clutch, would you be able to put the voltmeter into the COM port and the 10A port, then red lead to battery positive and other lead to the clutch wire?

I'm just changing the same pulley/clutch kit but for my XTERRA 07, so I had to remove many parts to have access to the compressor. The only difference I see with my compressor is that instead of a bolt in the clutch like yours, mine came with a allen bolt, that I already removed. I still have to pull out the clutch because it's pretty stuck there. Any suggestions on how to pull the clutch? Thanks!

They wanted $300 for replacement and I have to buy the compressor, I laughed at walked away.. ordered my coil clutch kit on eBay for $45… Spent 2 hours slow paced abs got the job done… it feels soo good afterwards when AC went on and cold air blew out lol
Hi, Do I need to use an Impact as you used on the bolt? I tried using a ratchet and powered the clutch to prevent rotation of clutch, but the bolt seems quite tight I'm afraid to strip it any recommendation would be appreciated
@@jesskyb8163 if you sent have one something I've done on bolts like that that turn a pully is put your ratchet on it and get a hammer I prefer rubber mallet and hit the handle of the ratchet. It kinda works like an impact and will break it loose. Good luck hope it helps
I used the old because it was still the correct spacing. You just need to make sure itsvnot to tight because it will drag but if it's to loose it won't grab.
What if you don't have the 3 screws on the magnetic coil? My 2010 Nissan Rogue doesn't have the 3 screws in the actuator. How do i pull that off. Nobody has an answer. Nissan won't tell me anything until I pull the vehicle into their garage.
@@bbmd2200 maybe. That one i installed came with new ones and I had the old ones. If there isn't enough shims when you put the bolt in it will pushe the plate against it there needs to be a air gap in between the plate and pully but if you have to much air gap it won't work either. I would suggest checking the box and all plastic and around your work area for them. You might be able to buy them to. Good luck hope you get it.

They probably would of installed a new compressor plus evaporator then charge you to vacuum and recharge your system and who knows how much for the freon when all you need is a clutch. I love when I get comments like yours stating I helped you out and you were able to do it yourself.
I turn the car as soon as I turn a c my car stalls can this be problem at first it was working I would hear weird noises on front air conditioner haven't use my a c cause that issue it stalls the engine plz help
Your compressor might have locked up. So when you turning on your ac your activating that clutch causing a major load on the engine. Probably need new compressor
@@justinsworkshop6636 no clutch and the pulley turned freely with belt on so I guess the air conditioner is not locked? Just not running a clutch till I save for a whole unit and condenser and dryer

Ya you can if it's replaceable. Not all clutches are replaceable.

I have a Nissan maxima and it blows cold air but squeals when I turn on ac and I smell like burning rubber so not sure if this is the problem ?
Sounds like belt is loose and slipping.

It shouldn't be. Did you try your old shim to see if it made it looser?

Hello, Sir. I removed my ac clutch, and when I put it back, it spins with the pulley while the AC is off. Do you know how I can fix that?
Did u put the shims in it? If so you might need to add another shim. Look at 7:08

What was the spacing between the clutch and the pulley?
I'm not 100% sure I set that one back to what it was you just want to make sure it's not rubbing when you spin it
